Celebrating A New IR Romance From Sandra Sookoo

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating a new contemporary IR romance from Sandra Sookoo and Lyrical Press.

Sandra Sookoo is a writer of romantic fiction. Her portfolio includes historical, contemporary, sci-fi and paranormal romances. She loves to blend genres and spice them up and often times will add humor as well.

After catching the writing bug at the young age of ten, she’s gone on to grow her unique writing style. She’s a regular contributor for the Paranormal Romantic's blog and has a great time keeping things interesting at the Believing is Seeing blog.

When not immersed in creating new worlds and interesting characters, Sandra likes to read, bake and travel. Her favorite place to spend vacation hours is Walt Disney World. It’s where dreams come true and the soul can play. That suits her just fine. Writing is her ultimate dream job.

LIFE, SUDDENLY by Sandra Sookoo

Sometimes life happens suddenly and when you weren't looking for a change.

Tala Henderson grew up with her Native American roots playing a role in her day-to-day life. But when she caved to familial pressure and gave up the one man she could love, the pain she felt told her she could no longer afford to let anything - even her deep investment in her culture - determine her destiny.

Craig Wordell was all but destroyed when Tala ended their relationship before it could begin. A small town boy who made good, he never forgot the one who got away nor has he forgiven her for choosing her family's ideals over him. Wanting one more chance, he looks her up and tracks her to the church on the day of her sham wedding.

As soon as they see each other, the simmering passion they've felt for fifteen years boils over and they give into their baser instincts, where souls collide and mesh. When a simple misunderstanding threatens to undo the tentative trust and bury the love they've discovered, it will take acceptance and love on both parts for them to realize that sometimes life happens suddenly and maybe fate just waited for them to find the right path.

  2. Congrats, Sandra!

    That was a great trailer...

As a writer, I'm always interested in hearing about the pre-release processes.

What was working with your editor like? Did you have a lot of revisions to get through? How smoothly did it go?

And did it take very long to get from SQUEE CONTRACT! to SQUEE RELEASE DAY! ?

  3. Hi DeNita and thanks so much for letting me take a day and talk about this book lol

How did the idea come to life? Well, last Christmas my mom gave me a deck of animal Oracle cards to just goof around with. I was playing with them then did some research on Native American animal totems. One thing led to another and that's how I came up with Tala's backstory :-)

  4. Hi Ash!

Pre publishing process, huh? Well, I sent this particular story to my editor so she could read it. At the time it was my first foray into the erotic writing world (which is funny because by the time it actually hit release date, I've done several hotter books than this lol)

Anyway, I ended up having to rewrite a good portion of this story. Some of the original scenes never made it into the final copy, but that's just sometimes how it goes.

My editor is a dream to work with, very thorough and I've loved having her on all my Lyrical projects.

  17. Very interesting setup. Did you do much research into the Native American community? So many Native American cultures have disappeared. It is so sad.

  18. Hi Jen! Yes, I did do research into the Native American community--at least in the Indiana area. Research is a vital part of writing no matter what genre :-)
