JOY RIDE by Desiree Holt

Emma, the good girl poster child, is running from a life she suddenly sees as gray and suffocating - a life where she's successfully buried all her hopes and secret dreams. Until the night she wanders into Aftershock and is immediately drawn to the hot bass player. The electricity of his performance, the powerful music he coaxes from his guitar, the heavy vibration of each note reaches out to something deep inside her and wakes an Emma she didn't even know existed.

Marc doesn't much care for the groupies who hang around the band. He needs a woman he can create a future with that's a counterpoint to the craziness of the rock music business. When he sees Emma for the first time, something inside him cracks wide open. Just one sizzling glance between them, and he's sure he's found the woman to complete his life.

But as the relationship grows, there's a huge stumbling block: Emma won't tell him her name. The sex is fabulous but he wants more...

Although Emma is finally finding her true self, her fear of everything falling apart builds a barrier she can't seem to cross. Marc is taking her on the joy ride of her life, but will her own insecurities destroy everything?

  1. Happy Release Day Desiree! Woo Hoo this book looks hot!

I totally love the video you have for it - love how you used pictures of the same couple on your bookcover in it! And that song - so great! Tell us all about it - did you make it or did you have it made for you?

Whomever did do it, did a great job.

And the book sounds great - your second one with Decadent Publishing - congrats! How do you like writing for them? I saw that your first book with them NIGHT MISSION is an ARe bestseller - super congrats on that!

You've been in the music business, I'm sure that helped you write this book...what other books do you have available with the music business as a background?

I wish you the very best release day - hope you set a record for release day sales!

    Have fun!

  2. Happy release day! I love the book trailer. Is this a stand alone book or will it be part of a series?

  3. Hi DeNita,
OI love writing for Decadent. They are such a professional organization and really have it together. Actually this is the third book I've written about the music business. The first was a novella, Having It All. The second was my 100th release, Downstroke. And now Joy Ride. It's nice to be ale to use that part of my life in my stories.

  4. Thanks for coming to the, party, Elizabeth. Actually Joy Ride was written to be a stand alone, but my editor fell so in love with Rick, the band leader, that she wanted his story. I have just finished the synopsis and will be starting the book probably next month.

  6. I love when the secondary characters start demanding their own story...and no one better than you to write it...

So who would you be a groupie too? I know you use to work in the music biz...do you have a guilty pleasure favorite?

  7. *Sigh* this book sounds awesome!

What is the one thing that all your stories have in common? Example: a character trait or a certain event.

  8. Hi Regina,
I think the way things are going I'll probably have to develop stories for the other two band members but I'll be spacing them out.

  9. Chele, I think I am the ultimate groupie, and my guilty pleasures are still two old faithfuls: Aerosmith and R.E.O.Speedwagon.

  10. Drea, I think the one thing my stories all have in common in strong characters. My books are character drive, and my heroes are alphas with enough beta side to make you fall in love with them.

  11. Congrats on your new release, Desiree! I think all of us dream about a bad boy sweeping us off our feet! Sounds like a great read!

  12. I loved writing this book. And Marc is the baddest of the bad. I hope you'll love him as much as I do.

  13. Happy Release Day Desiree! You know I love your stuff. My only complaint is that they are too short. Have you thought of doing a full length novel?

    1_trouble AT msn DOT com

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, it just so happens the Joy Ride is a full length novel so it's packed with all the things you want as well as deep character developed. And actually I do have some other full lengths out there. Check out my web site for the list. But Joy Ride should definitely fill the bill for you.

  16. My question was already answered. The idea of a series about the rock band - devine. I'm currently reading another series about a band and *fans self* there is nothing like the alpha attitude of a rocker.

Do any of your other books that center around a rock band?

  17. Happy release day...
    My questions are
How do come up with such interesting books?
What was your muse for this book?

I asked an author before about these questions. She stated that looking over photos sparked the creative idea which built the story from there. Just wondering if you were the same or something else...
    Just curious...
BTW... looking forward to reading this book... Whoever assisted in making the video....Bravo.

Take care and thanks for great contest & the time to give us a chance to chat at you.

  19. Hi Becky,
Sometimes it's photo, sometimes it's something else. For this book is was meeting the real; Marc Malone, bass Player Jackie Joyride with Run DEvil Run and knowing I just had to write a book with him as the hero. Such sex on stage. Check out the band on You Tube.
Oh, and my daughter made the video for me. She has incredible talent.

  20. I LOVE stories set in the music biz. I'm addicted to sexy bad boy rockers. This theme seems to be gaining in popularity, so what is it about rock stars that calls to readers?

  21. I think it's the essential sexiness, the heat they generate from the stage, the hint of wild sex and the ability to take you places you've never been before. When I first saw Jackie Joyride onstage with Run Devil Run that bass just thumped through my body, he had his head thrown back totally into his music and he generated incredible chemistry to the audience. How can you not want to write a book about someone like that? LOL!

  22. Congratulations on your new release. I loved the book trailer. Do you ever base you characters off of people you know or have met?

    sstrode at scrtc dot com

    ReplyDelete
  23. Absolutely. In fact the hero of JOY RIDE is based on the bass player for a hot rock band, Run Devil Run. Hint: He's the guy on the cover! A lot of my characters are based in part on people who have made a real impression on me. I think it gives extra depth to the characterization.

  24. Congrats on the new release. It sounds awesome.

Do you think book trailers help sell a book?

    elaing8(at)netscape(dot)net

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like to think so. I haven;t done a lot of them but the few I've done seemed to have helped my sales. I try to put them where people can easily see them and also promote the You Tube link a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Not really , although I do have Can't Stop Me Now by Run Devil Run on my MAc and I played that a lot. The bass player is the inspiration from my hero and I have a hot, hot picture of him on my screen that kept me totally inspired!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have always enjoyed your books. they are so great! Do you gt to pick your covers?
    debby236 at gmail dot com

    ReplyDelete
  28. Actually I fill out cover request forms and get to be as specific as I can. Then it's up to the cover artist to create the cover. But with JOY RIDE Decadent went the extra mile for me. The male is actually Jackie Joyride, the guy the hero is based on, and Decadent hired DRZ Images to shoot the cover for me. I'm just really excited with the way it came out.

And I'm so glad you love my books!

  35. Congratulations on the release of Joy Ride!

You write so many wonderful books, it's getting difficult to come up with new questions!!

Have you ever thought about how long you will continue to write? I hope it's for a long time, but is there something else you would like to do/accomplish?
