Celebrating Cherie Noel's New M/M Contemporary Romance

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating Cherie Noel's new M/M romance, THE SOLDIER & THE STATE TROOPER

Cherie Noel didn't speak until she could do it in full sentences, went away to college at age sixteen, spent time as a music showcase producer, a songwriter, a Dragon Soldier (ask her what that means and she'll tell you), a nurse, a reporter...oh, this list goes on and on. She's still writing, only now she writes love stories. M/M, M/F, F/F, or any combination of the above. The characters just have to holler loud enough for her to hear 'em.

Cherie will admit to a certain partiality to nekkid boys though. So if she's a little more likely to write about boys falling for each other, she's sure you'll understand...more nekkid boys that way!*

THE SOLDIER & THE STATE TROOPER by Cherie Noel

Career soldier Christie Collins figured out early that love could be lost in the blink of an eye, leaving an empty place that was just another pothole on life's rocky road. The detours of sudden single fatherhood and a nosy best friend who won't let even death stop her from interfering in every date leave Christie convinced that finding a partner is next to impossible.

State Trooper Robert Lindstrom catches Christie speeding along the stretch of highway he patrols and a routine traffic stop turns into love lights flashing and instant attraction for these two men in uniform. It looks like smooth sailing to their happily ever after until an unexpected deployment sends Christie into danger. Can their love survive both bombs and the betrayal of Christie by his closest comrade?

  4. Hi Cherie and congrats on your new book! Was it hard for you to create Robert and Christie's world?

  5. No Kortny, it was actually surprisingly easy to create their world. The whole novel sort of sprang from an actual incident in my own life, and just flowed easily from there! The characters had very strong voices, and the muse was in a great mood!

  9. Leni,
the title is exactly the one I used while writing the story, parts of which are actually adapted from my own life...lol. There really was a sexy state trooper who pulled me over for speeding! And the baby crying in the back? Also true! Of course, we have to get our inspiration from somewhere right?

I hope you truly enjoy the story, and please be sure to stop by my website and let me know what you thought of it! (Or rate it on Goodreads).

  12. Midia,
The next book in the series is The Soldier & the Shaman, and will tell the story of Christie's friend Evans, and Doctor Bald Eagle. I'm in the midst of drastic revisions to the story line right now, and want to wait to say more until I have the revisions done. I'm aiming for finishing the whole first draft by mid-September...and I will be posting more on the website about it. For now, you can read an unedited excerpt of some risky business going on between Evans and the good doctor by looking for my excerpt; Ice Cream Dream ...here's a link: http://talesfromthewritingcave.blogspot.com/2011/07/work-in-progress-wednesday-ice-cream.html

  14. Diannakay,
so glad you enjoyed the story! I loved writing about Tony, Kevin, and Neil. I'm currently working on writing a sequel to their story that I plan on Launching right here on AuthorIsland on the 19th.

    Elaing8,
Thank you. I'm thrilled about the release! Hmm. Favorite scene to write...I'd have to say it was the scene where Robert & Christie are having their Symphony date. I did it as a flashback, and got to be quite naughty with it! I do loves me some smexy, naughty men!!

  22. Congrats on your book. Did you do a lot of research for it?

  23. Bookwyrm, Sherry, and Debby,
Yay!! You all chimed in on the thread in time to make the cutoff for the contest. I'm thrilled--no, really--that you're thinking of reading my book.

Debby...lol, boy did I ever do a lot of research, though I didn't know it at the time. 5yrs worth in the US Army, stationed first in Germany, then at Ft.Drum here in the US. Several of the characters in this book are composites of actual folk I knew in the service. I love reading things that ring true, so I try to make sure that my work will do the same for my readers by either writing what I know from experience, or I do my very best to get the skinny from folk who have actually walked the walk, as it were.

  24. The winner of the ebook drawing is Leni! I couldn't figure out the Random.org thing (probably too early in the morning for adequate brain function, lol) so I went old school, put everyone's name on a slip of paper and had one of the lovely ladies here at the all night coffee shop pull a name out of the--no, not hat--coffee cup. I thought it fitting, since I spend an awful lot of time here writing! Congrats, Leni, and I'll be in touch with you to find out which format you'd like your ebook in!

  25. Ooh. Mea culpa. I forgot about my luvs across the pond. It's okay though!! I'll make it up to you, promise! How about another drawing next week? And that one I'll leave open for a full 24hrs, okay?

It'll be on my website, Tales From the Writing Cave, and ...oh, let's do it next Friday, shall we? Yes? Okay, everyone entered (except Leni, who already won!) will still be eligible for the draw, and anyone else who pops in here before 9am today, or on the website on Friday the 12th between 0001 and 1159 EST.

    Am I forgiven?
