Celebrating A New Paranormal Romance From Sam Cheever

Today on our Cyber LaunchParty Blog we're celebrating the release of Sam Cheever's hot new paranormal romance SOUL WARRIOR.

Sam writes fast paced fantasy and romantic fiction with feisty characters who deal with life's little challenges in unique and often hilarious ways. As a reader Sam is very impatient. She quickly loses interest if a story doesn't have a good pace and snappy dialogue. Sam's inability to focus in a backwash of human angst and subtleties works out well for her readers, since she writes the way she likes to read.

In her real life, Sam lives on a hobby farm in Indiana with 10 dogs, 4 horses, 2 barn cats, 2 daughters, and one husband. Not necessarily in that order.

  2. Hey Denita!

Thanks so much for throwing me a party!! #:0)

This book is a sexy adventure story based on the mythology of the Valkyrie, who've been conscripted by the gods to carry the souls of human heroes to Valhalla, where they'll serve as an army to protect the gods.

In Soul Warrior, the gods have gotten greedy, often requiring heroes' souls before they die of natural causes. My heroine has forsaken her duty to them in disgust and is on the run. The hero in this story is a fallen angel, who doesn't think he deserves the title 'hero'.

They come together in a paranormal bar in Southern California and, when a terrible earthquake destroys a nearby town, they're forced to work together to save the town. Soon Bellona's sister Valkyrie try to harvest the town's dying heroes and Bellona and Rael must work together to save the heroes too.

Until one of the Valkyrie decide Rael is too big of a temptation to resist, and pursues him for Valhalla. That's when Bellona realizes she can't take a passive role in the gods' wrongdoing anymore, and takes on Valhalla to win back the man she loves.

  15. Here's another little taste of the book:

On the run and riding the edge, Bellona Fara roared down the short main street of a quaint, Southern California town that looked like a hundred other towns in that part of the country. She felt like she’d ridden through them all on her silver, Harley Davidson VRSC.
She was bored and restless. Her stomach clenched and her skin crawled with some need she hadn’t been able to identify. She’d closed the door on her past and was doing her best to ignore the reasons she’d left. She told herself she couldn’t live her life the same way anymore. She could no longer deal with larger than life figures, whose every waking thought centered on helping others.

Bellona wasn’t sure what had happened to her. Sometime over the last couple of decades she’d started to go off course. She’d been one of the fiercest of her sisters, the most dedicated in Valhalla. She’d personally been responsible for the transfer of thousands of good souls to the hallowed halls.

But something had started to twist inside of her. Something felt wrong about taking all that good away. The gods certainly did need their heroes, Bellona recognized their fear in every movement, every nervous shift of their eyes. Their deaths had already been written, proclaimed by her sisters as inevitable.

Only with legions of true heroes fighting at their sides could they hope to win the coming wars and live.

She’d done her part. But as she’d lived among the humans, searching every day, every hour, every moment for those with a hero’s true spirit, she’d realized something that had begun to twist her up inside.

She was taking away all that was good and powerful in the human realm, leaving only the bad, weak, or indifferent behind. There was nobody to stand between the simply good, but not heroic, and the truly evil of their world.

She was draining Earth dry of its heroes.

    With this realization came guilt.
    Such immense, soul gnawing guilt.
And then she’d started to resent the bright souls she escorted away. Until, in her current state of mind, she could barely stand to look at them.

So she’d said goodbye to her sisters and hit the road, intending to leave her duty behind in the search for happiness…or at least the ability to breathe without sharp pains stabbing into her stomach. She’d danced on the edge of the decision for a decade, but a single foretelling was all it took to send her running, determined never to look back.

Her coven sister, Saara had foreseen her future, and it had contained only a single chance at love. If she missed that one chance, Saara had told her with bright, tear filled eyes, she would never find love again.
Bellona had shuddered under the horrifying foretelling. And had asked just one question. “What will he be like?”

Saara had looked away, shamed for her and reluctant to share the future she’d seen. But in the end she’d spoken the few words which had sent Bellona spinning recklessly into the unknown, running from what had been, as well as what would soon be.

Saara had said, “He has committed the worst imaginable sin and rejects all that would heal him.”

    ~~*~~

Whatever could he have done? LOL, you'll have to buy the book to find out!

  16. Hello Sam,

Sorry I'm late to the party. Is this book part of your Knocked Series? I love mythical romance (is that what you call it?)

Will there be any more Tween books?

  17. Hey Katie!

Glad you could make it, I think there's still some chips and dip left. #:0)

This is a stand alone book, not part of a series, but, yes, it is based on mythology. I love it too. The legends are so much fun to explore and create into new stories.

    Thanks for stopping by!
