Celebrating Sara Brookes' New Erotic Sci Fi Release And Series

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating the release of
IMPULSE CONTROL
, a new erotic sci fi release which kicks off Sara Brookes' new Sypricon Masters Series.

Sara Brookes is a multi-published author who has always been fascinated by the strange, the unusual, the twisted and the lost (tortured heroes are her personal favorite). She is an action movie junkie, addicted to coffee and has been known to stay up until the wee hours of the morning playing RPG video games. Despite all this, she is a romantic at heart and is always a sucker for an excellent love story. Born and bred in Virginia, Sara still lives there with her husband and daughter. The entire family is owned by two cats, Galahad and Loki, who graciously allow the family to cater to their every desire.

IMPULSE CONTROL
by Sara Brookes

Book One of the Sypricon Masters

Planetary Deputy Chief Marshal Selene Orasova is looking for a reminder pleasure still exists in the universe. Fresh off her latest case, she heads to Tawse, a BDSM club on the planet Sypricon. However, upon her arrival she finds the club almost empty as nearly all the staff has been hired out of for the night. Disappointed, she starts to leave, only to walk face first into a wall of muscle.

Vaughn, one of the few Doms at the club Selene hasn't been under the command of, is immediately intrigued by the hard-edged cop. A few instructions and she is easily under his guidance. However, Vaughn quickly discovers Selene has a problem relinquishing total control. She likes to top from the bottom and that isn't something Vaughn will stand for. Determined to correct her, Vaughn pushes her limits with a little impulse control.

  1. Good morning Sara and congrats on the hot new release and for kicking off a new series!

I love erotic sci fi and can't wait to read it!!! Tell us a bit about this new book and the new series. How will the books fit together and more importantly, how long do we have to wait for the next one? :)

It's been a busy couple of weeks for you, since we just saw you last week to celebrate your EC release RAGGED EDGE - you have to be happy dancin' all over the place!

Hope you enjoy your special party today and I want to wish you great success with the new series! Hope it's your biggest seller yet!

  3. Thank you and welcome to my Cyber Launch!

I typcially write novel-length books (usually between 80K and 100K) but the idea of something shorter has always appealed to me. More specifically, I wanted to do a few stories that still had my usual heat level, but could be read in one sitting. I absolutely adore writing futuristic & Sci-fi stories because I get to play with technology. The Sypricon Master series is based around that particular interest. Tawse, the BDSM club in the stories, utilizes something called "impulse technology". Those familiar with BDSM know collars and cuffs are a typical part of the lifestyle. The cuffs and collars in Tawse employ this impulse technology. Needless to say, these items aren't just for the submissive wearing them.

This series is unique for me in that the common threads aren't the main characters of the books. Well, other than the fact they're members or Doms at the club. *g* Each book is a different couple with the club being the common thread that binds them together. The series is designed to be read completely stand alone.

While Impulse Control kicks things off, the next story, Perfect Limit, is going through final line edits right now. So I suspect an August release for it. Not a long wait at all!

If futuristic/sci-fi isn't quite your thing, no worries! Each book focuses on the situation between the characters inside the club during whatever scene they're playing in. That club just happens to be on a far away planet. So it's a perfect opportunity for you to dip your toe into the genre if you've been sitting on the fence about it.

Yes! The early part of this year was a busy writing time for me. Ragged Edge was a very emotional story for me and I am so happy to see the responses it has been getting! In between writing and editing it, I wrote Impulse Control, and there are two more releases in the Sypricon Masters series (Perfect Limit and No Restraint) to come. Plus, I'm axiously awaiting news for another one for this series that's on submission right now.

Let's pop open the champagne and start this party! I'll be around all day, so feel free to ask some questions.

  12. Thank you so much for stopping by, Alix, shadow_kohler, JoAnne, Diane, Sherry, Donna and Misa!!

Usually it's just my favorite desert and a glass of my favorite wine for celebrating a release, shadow_kohler. I already have a bottle of it just waiting for me tonight.

*g* JoAnne, I'm with you on alcohol (based on what you said on the Decadent post) but when it comes to BDSM play, every has to have a clear head. Personally, tho, my absolute favorite is straight up tequila. Forget the salt and the citrus, just hand me the shot! You can't do that all the time, tho and I find I'm partial to the hard ciders. There's a pear cider I had in OH that I loved. I've been trying to track it down ever since.

Oh Diane, you're going to make me pick just one, aren't you? They all have places with me, for different reasons. I can't pick!!

Sherry, writer's block seems to be one of those dreaded things for writers. It took me a long time to learn how to overcome and it's not the same way for everyone. I work on a few projects at once. If I get stuck for some reason, I put it aside and work on something else. I equate it to leap frogging between MSs. Most importantly tho, simply allowing yourself to write crap is good too. *G* You can fix crap. You can't fix what isn't there.

So glad to hear that you liked Ragged Edge, Donna!

  16. Hey there, bookwyrm, joder and lindseye! Thanks for joining us here. :^)

I love to read, bookwyrm, and I wish I had even more time to read than I do. But I always try to make it a priority. Right now, I'm reading Megan Hart's newest, Collide, and even though it's early on in the book still (and I read at a snail's pace), it's fantastic.

joder, I don't have any kind of completion rituals, but big sighs of relief are definitely on the agenda. *g* I can be a workaholic, so more than likely, I'll just start plugging away on the next story.

  17. The book sounds great. I will definately be heading to your website to check that out. Is this part of a series or a stand alone book? Are there any foods/drinks/objects that you have to have when writing?

Congrats on the release...I'm off to check out your website now.

  21. Oooh... congrats on the start of a new series, Sara! This sounds terrific--I do love a hot sci-fi/futuristic! I love the names you've chosen for the characters--is that something you enjoy doing, or is it a challenge for you to find names? Do you name before you start writing? Or have you had to change a character's name mid-stream?

    Congrats again!
