Celebrating Rose Maybud's New Release In EC's Blush Line

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating Rose Maybud's new release SOMETHING IN THE COFFEE in Ellora's Cave's new Blush line of sensual romance.

Rose Maybud is a retired lawyer who enjoys singing opera in the shower. She is a whole-hearted fan of Messrs. Gilbert and Sullivan, although she has never performed in any of their comic operas. She earned her Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 1994.

Currently she resides in Central Ohio.

SOMETHING IN THE COFFEE by Rose Maybud

Eileen knows her fiancé, Alex, is always feeling sorry for the downtrodden assistants at their law firm - and she's worried that he cares more about them than he does about her. But when Alex plans to spike the office coffeepot with a potion that will make everyone nicer to each other, should Eileen play the supportive future spouse, or tell him he's gone too far?

Eileen is convinced that no amount of hocus-pocus could make senior law partners Ann and Duke stop their noisy quarrels. Or change the way sexy, ambitious executive assistant Zoe thinks about laid-back Kevin, the IT guy. Or help timid Connie get a date with her boss, Roger, who's too shy to admit he's attracted to her.

Then the potion actually works...much too well!

  1. Happy Release Day Rose and congrats on what sounds like a fantastic read!!!

Now this is the first book in EC's Blush line that I've talked about here at AuthorIsland, can you tell us a bit about this new line and about your new book?

I love the storyline, how did the idea for this book come about?

I hope your book is a bestseller for you and enjoy your book launch!

  2. Happy launching, Rose! I don't need to win a copy since I've already bought my own and read it straight through. It was so much fun! I love your characters; I could picture and care about everyone. Anybody who's ever worked in an office will get a huge kick out of this. Great book!

    Congrats on the release!

  4. Thanks so much, AuthorIsland! I'm delighted to be here.

The new "Blush" line of books from Ellora's Cave carries mainstream romances--some are sweet and innocent, and some are downright sexy. Together with EC's well-known Romantica stories, the Blush line offers books that appeal to the many moods of a romance reader.

"Something In The Coffee" was inspired by the lighthearted, topsy-turvy craziness of a Gilbert and Sullivan opera. I thought, in today's world, what could be funnier than a stuffy, pressure-filled law firm where everyone just breaks loose?

So if you like it hot but not dark, try SOMETHING IN THE COFFEE.

  5. Congrats on the release. My question would be is this your first book to be published? I could not find any other titles on either your website or EC website.

  7. Susan, you're a doll! Thanks so much for your heaping helping of praise for "Something in the Coffee."

I'm looking forward to reading your new book "Temptress in Training," coming out in July. Can't wait to find out who wears the velvet panties that chafe so badly!

  9. Mel,

I started writing romance because of Georgette Heyer. Her books delighted me so much as I was growing up, and I couldn't think of a better way to make a living than to create stories that put a smile on my face every day.

Of course, I never believed that I could make a living writing stories! So I became a lawyer, thinking I could use my love of writing and research in a practical and lucrative way. Luckily I kept writing stories on the side--and hope to keep writing.

  10. June,

Thanks for the congrats! Yes, this is my first release as Rose Maybud.

I've got one other book out, but since this is a completely different kind of story, it seemed appropriate to use a different name.

I hope to write more Gilbert and Sullivan inspired stories as Rose Maybud--and I hope you enjoy them!

  11. Congratulations on your new release. I haven't heard of the Blush line. Is it more sensual than erotic?

  12. Hi, Anne,

You've got the idea. The Blush line includes everything from sweet to sensual.

These are stories that are more mainstream romance, not erotic in terms of heat level.

You can find the Blush books in their own part of the Ellora's Cave website.

  14. Hi Rose!

Just dropping out of the writer's cave to tell everyone that this is a really fun - also to verify Miss Maybud's love of all things Gilbert and Sullivan. Try to stump her - just try (grin). Best of luck on a great launch, Rose!

  16. Hi, flchen,

Well, I hope my story makes you smile!

To celebrate the release of SOMETHING IN THE COFFEE, I bought myself a pretty necklace. Now whenever I wear it, I'll think about the excitement of this moment.

And my next story is about what happens when the Speaker of the State House of Representatives offends the Queen of the Fairies (excuse me, Nature Spirits)-- both the Legislature and his own love life are plunged into chaos as a result. It makes me smile just to think of it!

  23. Hi, Tracey,

Thanks! I hope you like it--there were some parts that cracked me up when I was writing them.

Luckily, there wasn't much need for Tae Kwon Do in this book, but I'm sure it will come in handy in the future.

    Glad you stopped by!
