Celebrating A New Ellora's Cave Breathless Release For Desiree Holt

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating the release of JUNGLE INFERNO, the first book in award-winning and bestselling author Desiree Holt's Phoenix Agency Series of romantic suspense.

Desiree has lived a life of excitement that brings the color to her writing. She was a summer fishing guide, a summer field hand where she was one of only three women working, a member of a beginning ski team that skied in competition (and no, no broken bones!). She spent several years in the music business representing every kind of artist from country singer to heavy metal rock bands. For several years she also ran her own public relations agency handling any client that interested her.

She is twice a finalist for an EPIC E-Book Award, a nominee for a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award, winner of the first 5 Heart Sweetheart of the Year Award at The Romance Studio, and is published by four different houses. Romance Junkies said of her work: "Desiree Holt is the most amazing erotica author of our time and each story is more fulfilling then the last."

JUNGLE INFERNO by Desiree Holt

Book 1 in the Phoenix Agency series.

For Faith and Mark, the telepathic connection they'd shared for years was nothing compared to the scorching physical connection they realized as adults. From the first moment they came together, erotic was too pale a word to describe their relationship. Together they explored each other’s deepest, darkest desires.

But now Mark, survivor of an ambush to his Delta Force team, is a prisoner of a terrorist group in the Peruvian jungle, and his telepathic communication with Faith is his only contact with the world. While she searches for help to save him, they survive on dreams that took them beyond all sexual boundaries.

Publisher’s Note: This story was previously published elsewhere under the title ALWAYS ON MY MIND and has been revised for Ellora’s Cave.

  6. Ooh, congrats on the (re)release, Desiree! I love the new cover!! When you have the chance to revise a book for rerelease, are you ever tempted to make major changes to events and/or characters? About how much time do you have to make changes?

  8. Congratulations on the release of Jungle Inferno Desiree! I love that they are telepathically linked to each other. I can imagine that it would heighten the experience of everything they do together. It sounds like a great read!

  9. Hi Shelli,
I think my favorite part of the book is creating the characters, fleshing them out as the scenes develop, working out the dialogue between them. That's what moves the story forward for me. In Downstroke, for example, one of my favorite scenes is when Dallas and Charley are along together for the first time in 20 years.

  10. Hi Fedora! It is always sooo wonderful to have you at my parties. Sometimes, yes, I'm tempted to make major changes but then I talk myself out of it because usually it worked too well the first time. I usually have about 3 months to do the rewrites, but that is BECAUSE I end up not making major changes.

  13. I LOVE the premise of this new book. But, then I love all of the Desiree Holt books that I own and/or have read.

Question: who was your favorite artist or group to represent in the music business?

  14. Afternoon Desiree!

Awesome contest, and congrats on the release :)

My question is, who or what is your Muse? Because you have cranked out a lot of wonderful books, your Muse must be in heaven lol.

  15. Hey all! Thanks for coming by. Jacki, my favorite was a rock band named Lightnin'. I still have a tape of their music which I pulled out and was listening to the other day. They were fantastic to listen to and to work with. Interestingly enough, I hadn't been in a rock club in years until I went to Johnny Depp's Viper Room in LA and fell in love with the bass player from Run Devil Run. I just contracted a book where the hero is based on him called Joy Ride, with decadent Publishing, and the guys from Lightnin' are letting me use their band name for the band in the book. PLus they are digitizing the music they'd recording and we're making t-shirts so you can buy the book,m the music and the CD.

  16. Hey Mai! Thanks so much for coming by! My Muse. Well, I think she's an insane, hyperactive, oversexed, multi-tasker who just won't leave me alone. She sees stories EVERYWHERE and collects characters like dolls and won't let me rest until I do something with them.

  17. What a great promo idea for Joy Ride, Desiree. I will definitely be looking forward to more scoop.

With the Phoenix Agency series, do you have a favorite character or couple?

  19. Thanks so much, Darcy. And CAthy, I'm hoping Joy ride really takes off. Okay, my favorite Phoenix character? I try to love them all equally but I have to say probably Dan romeo, the hero of Book2: Extrasensory. Can't tell you exactly why except I feel a special connection to him. Maybe he reminds me of a guy I used to date! LOL!

  21. Congratulations on your release. I love books where the characters have different kind of connection. Do you believe in telepathic and other different kind of connections and have you ever experienced any kind of it?

  22. Hi Maranda. So glad you loved Trouble in Cowboy Boots. It's one of my faves. And Sherry? I definitely believe in psychic powers, especially telepathy, although I've never experienced it myself. But I've talked to people who have.

  23. Sounds like an interesting concept, Desiree. I'm partial to your work anyway. I've read several and enjoyed each one. In fact, I bought 3 of yours from ARe last night.

  37. Wow! Such great questions. Okay. One at a time.
The Phoenix Agency series was originally written as a sensual but nonerotic series and after discussion with my publisher we decided I'd spice them up and rerelease them so they'd be more in keeping with my other work now.

Is there a genre I haven;t written but think I''ll eventually do? I don't thing so. I cover contemporary, western, romantic suspense and paranormal (and the paranormal includes psychic. And I'm beginning to branch out into humor in some stories so I think that's a pretty full plate.

Is there something I'd really like to write but haven;t had the chance yet? Well, I wanted to use my background in the music industry but I finally did that with Downstroke, and my upcoming Decadent Release, Joy Ride, takes me into it even more.

I'm really just enjoying my writing so much, but the best part is interacting with readers like you guys.

  39. For those questions I missed:
Actually psychic abilities in my characters enhance the suspense because I can use those abilities to enhance the story. I really enjoy it.

And yup, my books can be read as stand alones.

  41. Hi Desiree!
I have The Phoenix Agency books in paperback. I love books with psychic characters in them! Are there a lot of changes in the new release that would make it totally different than the version I have?

  42. Congratulations on the re-release of Jungle Inferno! Hope it is wildly successful. I'm really looking forward to reading the Phoenix Agency series. I'm a relatively new fan - currently reading Downstroke and loving it!!

My question: Can you tell us who your most interesting client was when you were in public relations - and why?

Sorry I've missed the giveaway - have been away for the long weekend.
