Annie Nicholas hibernates in the rural, green mountains of Vermont, where she dreams of different worlds, heroes, and heroines. When spring arrives the stories pour from her, in hopes to share them with the masses one day.

Mother, daughter, wife are some of the hats she happily wears while trudging after her cubs through the hills and dales. The four seasons an inspiration and muse.

THE BETA by Annie Nicholas
The Vanguards Book 3

Three days of hell, in charge, and running out of antacids.

As the pack's Beta, Robert needs to watch over the Vasi werewolf pack for a few days. He hates the responsibility, but his job is to dissolve any problems while his alpha honeymoons. Nevertheless, trouble comes to town and her name is Esther. She's beguiling, beautiful and picks his pocket. Although Robert doesn't trust her, he still wants to possess her.

Esther arrived in Chicago with the intention of slaying a vampire named Daedalus. While trailing her quarry, she encounters Robert who unhinges her world. He doesn't know her trade, and she doesn't know his connection to the vampire. Disturbed by her attraction to this unusual werewolf, she can't decide which prey to hunt. The one who's stolen her heart or the one who'll fill her bank account.

Hot graphic werewolf sex, growing body parts, and one pissed off Nosferatu.

Is this the last book in the series or do you have more planned for us?

Also, I really enjoy the humor you infuse in your work, do you find that comes easy for you?

  7. Congrats Annie! Sounds like a great story. I really enjoyed reading the first 2 in the series. How many do you plan on being in the series? Will everyone in the original Omega pack get a book (Katrina, Tyler and Sam)? What inspired you to write these stories?

  12. This is a new series for me but I will definately be checking into it, they sound great! Do you have any writing quirks? Have to have certain food/drinks, wear certain clothes, have a specific item close by, write in a certain place?

  13. Sorry, I'm late but I'm finally here!

Denita: The Vanguards series sprung from my past as a geekie teenage girl. If I was a shifter then, I would have been an omega, the lowest rank in a wolf pack.

The story started with a pack of outcast omega shifters and their struggle agains a larger dominanting pack. The series follows each member as they discover their personal strengths and fall in love.

There is also a central story to the series that flows with each book. The love story of Sugar, their human friend, and Daedalus, their vampire mentor.

Humor is central to each book. How can you live through tragedy and prevail over conflict without learning to laugh?

  14. Chele: Funny you should mention Bait & Catch because Connie has been whispering in my ear these past two weeks. I'll be writing book 3 this summer.

I'm a huge Jim Butcher, LKH, and Janet Evanovich fan. I've read all their books. I also love all the Space channels series: Stargates, Being Human, Eureka, Warehouse 13, etc.

  15. Flchen: Omegas in Love book 4 of The Vanguards will be released in 2012. It's Tyler and Katrina's story. I dreaded writing their book since they are already together but even old relationships need new beginnings. They're story is now my favorite and I can't wait to share it.

There are two more planned for sure after book 4.

  16. elaing: Three words...Robert- introverted, stoic, and sexy.

    Esther- competent, dangerous, and intelligent.

  17. Joni: I have never suffered from writer's block. *knocks on wood* I have soooooo many stories to tell I struggle with deciding which book to write next. My plot bunny farm is full and I'm beating the ideas away at this point.

  18. June: I do have a quirk and I get teased about it ofter. LOL

I HAVE to write my first draft long hand. My brain does not translate to the computer. I have all these note books numbered and titled all over my house. And when I misplace one *sniff* it's hell.

  19. Congrats on your release. I love paranormal romance, do your write any other genres?

  20. Oh I love the idea of a nerdy werewolf. And the line, three days in hell and running out of anacids, too funny!

How long does it take you to write a book? I found it so interesting that you write your first draft by hand.

  21. JoAnna: I'd love to branch out into sci-fi but it might be a few years before I can.

  22. Katie: Novellas ususally take me 3-6 months and Novels 8-10 months.
