Celebrating The Release Of Marie Treanor's First Awakened By Blood Novel

Today we're celebrating the release of the first Awakened by Blood Novel from Marie Treanor!

Marie was born and bred in Scotland, but for some years moved around the UK working and studying. Now she's back home and happily married with three young children.
Having grown bored with city life, her family lives in a picturesque village by the sea where, instead of working for a living, Marie is lucky enough to be able to enjoy herself writing stories of romance and fantasy.

She draws the inspiration for her books mainly from the people around her and from Scotland's rich history.

BLOOD ON SILK, An Awakened by Blood Novel from Marie Treanor

Scottish academic Elizabeth Silk is spending the summer in Romania researching historical superstitions for her PhD. While she is tracing local foktales, one subject in particular sparks her imagination. His name is Saloman, legend's most powerful vampire, a seductive prince staked centuries ago. Now, in the ruins of a castle crypt, Elizabeth discovers the legends are real. Her blood has awakened him. Her innocence has aroused him. But Elizabeth unleashes more than Saloman's hunger.

An army of vampire hunters has amassed to send Saloman back to hell. Sworn to help - yet fearing Saloman's deadly blood lust - Elizabeth seeks to entrap him, offering her body as bait. But something stronger than dread, more powerful than revenge, is uniting Elizabeth to her prey. Caught between desire and rage, Elizabeth must decide where her loyalties lie...and what the limits are to a yearning she can no longer control.

You must live in a very interesting place that stirs the imagination.
Do you have trouble trying to come up with character names or do they come to you?

  5. Thanks, Robin! I love the cover too :)How lucky am I?

Linda, I'm so glad you enjoyed the excerpt, hope you enjoy the book too! Thanks for the congrats :)

Hi Gigi - glad it intrigues you :). I live in Scotland, which can be interesting - and wet, of course :) To answer your question, some of my characters seem to arrive in my imagination complete with names, like Elizabeth. Others, like Saloman, take a bit more effort. For him, I had to sit down and look at a list of Hungarian and East European names until I found one that seemed to fit him :)

  9. :) DeNita, it feels fabulous :)Thanks for being so pleased for me! It's very exciting and just a bit scary, and I wish I was in the US or Canada just so I could see it in the shops!

The three AWAKENED BY BLOOD books follow the story of my academic heroine and the terrifyingly powerful vampire Saloman whom she awakens by accident three hundred years after he was betrayed and staked. Now he's out for revenge and world domination.

It's fun because Elizabeth's making her reputation exploding vampire myths and then she has to cope with the reality of Saloman and all the other maurauding vampires who come out of the woodwork to kill her for what she's done.

And of course, Saloman needs to kill her to gain the mystical strength of his Awakener. Not the best recipe for romance, you might think, but their attraction is immediate!

The next two books following BLOOD ON SILK (BLOOD SIN, out in April 2011, and another whose title we haven't decided on yet!)follow Saloman's quest for power and its effect on the world. Elizabeth has conflicting loyalties because of her growing friendship with the Hungarian vampire hunters. And of course, other people in both the vampire and human worlds, want to steal Saloman's power for themselves, and everyone has to make difficult choices.

I can't really tell you more without spoiling the story :)

Cheers, DeNita! And a cyber drink with everyone :) Hoping for a drop of real champagne too when my husband gets home.

  12. Ooo Interesting Marie a real serial! I love that we get to follow Saloman on his quest--not to mention poor Elizabeth's emotional/moral struggles! Without spoiling us ;) can you tell us where your inspiration came from for a story like this?

  14. Thanks, Anne, that's good to know! And I tend to do the same when I'm browsing - you need something to catch your eye. I think this cover is definitely eye-catching!

Hi Stephanie, how are you? I think the inspiration came from a scene in my head of a vampire rising out of the stone and advancing on the terrified yet fascinated heroine. And thenI thought, wouldn't it be fun to follow them through the highs and lows of several stories, instead of switching focus to different chanracters after one book? Hope you agree with me!

Oh thanks, Valerie! Cheers to you!
