VAMPIRE TRINITY by Joey W Hill
Book VI of the Vampire Queen series

Vampire hunter Gideon Green sure as hell never intended to become a vampire's servant. But when Anwyn Naime, a woman with whom he shared an unforgettable night, is turned by a vampire pack, they become bound by something far greater than either imagined. It also forces Gideon into an uneasy alliance with one of the most terrifying vampires he's ever encountered: the mysterious Daegan Rei.

Daegan also has a vested interest in Anwyn. His history with the lovely nightclub owner is both intimate and intense. As Gideon and Daegan shepherd Anwyn through her dangerous validation with the Vampire Council, it's clear the three of them must learn to trust each other. But as boundaries between them erode and vulnerabilities surface, Gideon realizes he is no longer the man he thought he was - changed by a strange and unexpected bond with the two new people in his life he can't survive without...vampires.

  2. Super congrats on the new release Joey!!!

Now this is your first menage love story, right? Tell us all about it and for those who don't know, tell us a bit about your Vampire Queen Series and how the books connect.

Loved the excerpt and can't wait to read it! Hope it's a bestseller for you!

  6. Thanks, Regina/Nicole! I love the artwork for this entire series - my favorite is still Mark of the Vampire Queen, the way Jacob's character is portrayed, in the belted jeans, and how Lyssa is running her nails over him (happy sigh). Hey, Linda and Karen! Thanks so much as well, and hope you all enjoy Gideon's story.

AI - thanks for that question as well. My apologies for the delay in response. I returned from Lora Leigh's RAW yesterday, and I'm headed to Authors After Dark on Thursday and today I'm doing a bit of the "running around like a chicken" imitation. But don't hesitate to post questions and comments today because I WILL get to them (smile). It may just take me a little while.

This is my first true menage - what I call the equilateral triangle, where all three have equal emotional investment in the relationship. I did have a menage situation in Holding the Cards, but Marcus was really facilitating the ultimate one-on-one relationship for Lauren and Josh in that one (smile). So short answer, yes, this is my first "true" menage. It was like playing emotional twister with three different difficult personalities, and at the time I was writing it, I had days I beat my head against the wall. However, now that I see the finished story and am hearing good things from my readers about it, it's made it all worthwhile.

And of course, the Vampire Mistress/Vampire Trinity combo was kicked off by Gideon's character. He came in as Jacob's brother in Mark of the Vampire Queen, and he was just such a "bad boy" lone wolf, with so much unresolved pain, I knew he'd have his own book. He's my first true "bad boy" as well. I've written dark, angsty men before, but Gideon is full up on attitude. He really needed two firm hands to help him figure things out (grin).

As far as the connection between the books, in true series style, many of the characters make "guest appearances" in the books where they are not the main protagonist, but the stories do have a standalone quality. Hmm...okay, let me qualify that. Vampire's Claim and Beloved Vampire can completely stand alone. Because VQS/Mark of the Vampire Queen and Vampire Mistress/Vampire Trinity were both originally "one long book" broken into two, those two pairings need to be read together.

I love this series because it was motivated by two interests - my personal interest as a reader in the vampire-servant relationship, and my interest in writing books that explore the Dominant/submissive relationship. The two interests came together and so far each set of characters have taken me on unexpected journeys - emotional, dark, intense, but ultimately fulfilling - the best kind of erotic romance (grin).

  12. Hi Joey!
congrats on your newest release! I'm quite new to your books and have read only one so far (your story in Laced with Desire) and it was gorgeous!
wish you all the best, Ina

  13. Thanks all, for the warm congrats!

Valerie, so glad you've enjoyed the series thus far. Vampire Mistress and Vampire Trinity are books 5 & 6, so you may only be 1-2 behind (grin). A "normal" writing day is pretty much getting up at 5am, walking the dogs, seeing the husband off to work, then starting about 8am. I check to make sure there's no urgent emails, then I write until about noon. At that point, I take a lunch break, play with the animals, then I'm back at the computer at 1:30 and I work until 4:30. Dinner break, talk to husband, then I give the evening to promo work and email until bed time. I do that about 5 days a week, and then the weekends I might spend one or both days on email/promotions or edits, etc. I'm hoping to rearrange things a little better in terms of deadlines, etc in 2011 to have a bit more free time to spend with family, so wish me luck on that (laughter).

Becky, it's really funny - the Joey W Hill fan forum administrators recently had a contest where the participants had to cast my threesome to win a prize. And of course I was the judge. The winners (there were two of them) chose Oded Fehr for Daegan, Sam Worthington for Gideon and the Melinda Clark (I think I spelled that right), who played Lady Heather on CSI as Anwyn. I thought that was a pretty good combo; though Melinda may be a little old to play Anwyn now, I think she would have been awesome in her late twenties/early thirties in the role.

Ina, glad you liked Honor Bound (Peter's story in Laced with Desire). I'm actually working on the next in the "Knights" series now - Jon's story. He falls for an older woman, a yoga instructor and physical therapist who is a closet submissive and has given up finding the right Master. She's of course going to find she's mistaken about that! (grin).

  18. Yadkny, I don't know why you haven't done that sooner, either. I mean, don't you know that I need to feed and clothe my seven animals and husband? Or, er, clothe him at least (grin). Seriously, hope you enjoy them, and glad you all have enjoyed the excerpt and cover!

  23. Linze - it would be great to have you there. It's a wonderful event. I went last time for its "First annual" occurrence, and I was amazed at how well Arganized it was, and how many wonderful things they'd organized specifically for the readers. Great, informal environment for booklovers. And thanks, Beth! Hope you get a chance to start the series as well!
