It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Vampires...In Heidi Betts' New Christmas Anthology

Today we're celebrating the long-awaited release of THE BITE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, a single-author Christams anthology featuring three fun and sexy vampire romances from Heidi Betts!

Bestselling, award-winning author Heidi Betts began her love affair with the romance genre in junior high school, where she used to sneak romance novels into study hall when she should have been doing her homework. It didn't take long to decide she wanted to write a few romances of her own, so she set out to do just that.

Her first book was released by Dorchester Publishing in 2000, with five more to follow. From there, Heidi moved into the contemporary arena by writing numerous category titles for Silhouette Desire, and recently she signed with St. Martin's Press to begin writing funny, sexy single titles.

With each new book, Heidi asks herself how she can bring to life endearing heroes and heroines whom readers will believe are meant for each other. And with each new novel to hit the stands, readers and reviewers alike declare she knows how to create a story that sizzles, charms, and delights from the first page to the last. Her first title for Silhouette Desire landed at #1 on the Waldenbooks/Borders Series Romance Bestseller List, where her books have continued to make an appearance ever since.

Heidi loves to read, write, watch movies (and just a little too much television), and surround herself with furry, four-legged friends in her home in the beautiful hills of Central Pennsylvania.

THE BITE BEFORE CHRISTMAS by Heidi Betts

Vampires turn to fanged and fabulous matchmaker extraordinaire Angelina Ricci to help them find that special someone to curl up with under the mistletoe in this charming (read: sexy) and delightful (read: funny) holiday collection by national bestselling author Heidi Betts. Because vampires need love, too. (Biting optional. Hot sex guaranteed.)

"All I Vant For Christmas"
Connor loves trimming the Christmas tree, baking gingerbread cookies, and hanging the mistletoe. But his vampire siblings won't help. His friend Angelina sends party planner Jillian to the rescue. But when Jillian, who's mortal, discovers she's decking the halls for a family of vampires, will she run - or will Connor have a beautiful woman to share the holidays with?

"A Vampire in Her Stocking"
When Vivian learns that her secret crush Nick is terminally ill, she's heartbroken. Confiding in Angelina, Vivian refuses to turn Nick into a vampire. Deciding to play Santa, Angelina changes Nick and leaves him wrapped in a red bow on Vivian's doorstep...

"It's A Wonderful Bite"
Although Angelina is happy with her boyfriend Sergio, she's ready for a commitment. After drinking eggnog and watching It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve, Angelina falls into a dream where she is mortal and Sergio isn't interested in her. Talk about the nightmare before Christmas! But Santa must have checked his list twice because this Christmas Angelina's wishes are coming true...

  7. Hello, Heidi! I had such fun reading the excerpts from "The Bite Before Christmas" that I decided to start celebrating the holidays somewhat early this year. I am going to whip up a batch of eggnog, heavy on the nog, and practice making dark and delicious gingervamp cookies with cute little icing fangs : ) That's the spirit!

  11. I want to say good morning, everyone, but a glance at the clock shows me it's well after noon. *sigh* Sorry 'bout that...what can I say? Rough morning trying to get to the 'puter.

But I'm here now & cannot thank DeNita enough for helping me to celebrate the release of my sexy holiday vampire story--something I'm really excited about!

And thank you, all, for dropping by to spend the day with me!

  12. Hi, Ina! I'm so glad you like the sound of BITE...it was terrific fun to work on, trying to figure out how to make hot vampires seasonal & toss in the fun paranormal right along with the fun Xmas. :-)

I love the cover, too...no secret there, I've been drooling over it for months. *vbg* But I actually had very little to do with it. My editor asked if I had any ideas, I made one suggestion (which I realize now would have been disastrous compared to what they came up with!), & then they showed me the final version. Couldn't have asked for better! And I love all the cool elements in there, like the tombstone wrapped in Xmas lights, the bats flying alongside Santa's sleigh... I adore it. :-D

*You've* been waiting a long time? I feel like I've aged as much as my vamp characters waiting for this one to come out. LOL

I've gotten reports for a couple of people that they've seen it on the shelves, which is great. But because it's a trade-size Brava, it may not show up as well as regular paperbacks. So, please, if anyone has trouble finding it on the shelves when you go shopping, don't hesitate to ask the bookstores to order it in for you. They'll do it happily, with no additional charge, & call you when it comes in!

No plans for another holiday collection next year, altho I do have an idea niggling the back of my mind. Next year's Brava release is going to be a story I've been calling VAMPS IN VEGAS, but will probably end up with a completely different title before it comes out. Still, it's vampires...in Vegas...with a wealthy vampire casino owner & a set of twin showgirls... Very sexy, great fun! ;-)

  14. Thanks so much, April, Sandy, & Regina!

Hi, Diana! Boy, that's a tough one. Right off the bat (ha--bat! *g*), I would have to say I probably identify most with Jillian, the heroine of BITE's first novella. She's both intrigued & a little frightened by the idea of getting involved with a vampire, & even runs to the bookstore to research with books like "The Idiot's Guide to Dating a Vampire." :-) Sounds like something I would do.

  15. Hi, Virginia! Ooh, that sounds yummy! Send some my way, okay? :-)

I'm so glad you liked the excerpt. There are actually three (one for each novella, of course), if anyone is interested. Let's see if I can post links to the first two...

Excerpt #1 -- http://heidibetts.com/ (on my home page; scroll down a bit for the excerpt)

  16. Thanks, Jean, Linda, & Sunshine!

Please see my last comment about multiple excerpts, if you're interested...I figured I should give a little taste of each story, since there are three in the book. ;-)
