Celebrating A Hot New EC Anthology Featuring Stories From Desiree Holt And Kathy Kulig

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating the release of the first book in a hot new anthology series from Ellora's Cave, featuring stories from two AuthorIsland authors Desiree Holt and Kathy Kulig!

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES: VOLUME 1

Captain of Nara’s Heart by Laurann Dohner

Nara knew she was taking a risk with illegal trading. Sure enough, she's been arrested, caged - and will be auctioned as a sex slave. One look at the scary alien buyers and she frantically makes a deal, agreeing to be sold to Captain Vellar, who turns out to be large, sexy and seriously in heat. Offering her body to the captain is a given...but Nara didn't expect to lose her heart in the process.

Dragon Heat by Mel Teshco

A highly skilled operative, Grace has been trained to track, fight and kill paranormal creatures. Only after she's in the clutches of her latest target, a devastatingly sexy dragon-shifter, does she discover betrayal in her ranks. Suddenly the hunter is the hunted. Grace will soon uncover her ex-agency's horrific agenda - but not before seeking solace in all the pleasures of the flesh her new dragon ally has to offer.

Dangerous Addiction by Desiree Holt

Having finally realized his dream to own a ranch, Cord is ready for the next step - settling down with the perfect sub. And he's found her in Fallon. A single glance from the smart, sultry beauty makes him hard, but abuse at the hands of her ex-Dom has kept Fallon away from the lifestyle she loves. Needs. It will take bondage, mind-blowing sex, a gentle hand and expert flogging for Cord to help her rediscover her favorite dangerous addiction.

Highland Tryst by Eliza Knight

Having sworn off love, Kari Howard isn't adverse to a little lust when a hot Highlander lands at her feet. Literally. Fin has traveled through time, and given what he's packing under his kilt (good Lord!), Kari expects the sexy Scotsman to make her quake. But she doesn't expect Fin to shake her very foundation...or cherish her for who she is.

Tattoo Witch by Kathy Kulig

There cannot be good without evil, light without dark... At a seaside resort, lovers Sam and Anita meet a mysterious, heavily tattooed couple who refers them to Sinful Designs. The owner is a witch whose magical tattoos grant scorching, kinky sex beyond their wildest fantasies - but there's a catch. Each successive tattoo comes with a darker and scarier curse. Sam and Anita can break the spells...but at what cost?

The Addiction by Jaid Black

The long-awaited sequel to The Possession!

John Calder has everything most men would kill for - golden-Adonis looks, endless money, a steely reputation as a savvy businessman and beautiful women throwing themselves at his feet. Then he meets Shelli Rodgers, a quirky, klutzy Ph.D. student who takes John on an emotional and sensual journey, giving him the one thing he's never attained - happiness.

  8. I love anthologies because so many times we pick it up for one author we recognize and end up loving the other new authors we just read, which has happened to me on several occasions.

  9. Hello all! Thanks so much for featuring us today :)

@Amy-- my favorite authors... there are so many! But I love Ken Follett, Julie Garwood, Jane Austen, Vonda Sinclair, Kimberly Killion, just to name a few!

@Elaine--great question! Okay... Heroine: independent, jaded, smart. Hero: HOT, tortured, intense

@Donna--When I saw Jaid was putting together the anthology, I wrote HIGHLAND TRYST and submitted. I was lucky enough that she enjoyed it :)

  10. @Bookwyrm--I love to write Highlander time-travel stories, and the few I had out were quite popular and readers wanted more. When I saw that Jaid was putting together an anthology, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give my readers (and new ones too!) something fun and wicked to read :)

@Mary-- I agree!!! This has happened to me too :)

  14. Thanks Author Island for hosting us. I'm so excited about this anthology. And thrilled for Laurann. I just started reading my copy of SWTWC and thoroughly enjoying the other stories.

@Amy: It's so hard for me to name favorites. I read a variety of books from hot romance, thriller, sci fi, YA, etc.

@elaing8: 3 words to describe characters. Hero: Sexy, risk-taker, sensitive. Heroine: smart, bold, troubled.

@Donna: EC will put a call out for these anthologies, usually to in-house authors first. We'll get a theme (if there is one), a word limit and a deadline. There's no guarantee that your story will be picked. I got lucky.

  15. @Bookwyrm369: When I heard the title of these anthologies, I knew I had to submit a story. Something Wicked This Way Comes is also the title of one of my fav. books by Ray Bradbury. So I brainstormed a story flipping through stories by Bradbury that I might use as a theme. I remembered the Illustrated Man and decided to take a very naughty and wicked twist on the idea.

@Mary: I think anthologies are a great way to learn about new authors too.

@Debby: Good question. I like writing both. But short aren't necessarily easier. You can't develop the characters as much, and plot has to be simpler.

    Thanks Callie and Sherry!

  18. Love anthologies because it gives you a chance to check out other authors that you have never read before. I have read some stories by Desiree and Eliza before, but all the rest are new to me.
My question for all of you is: Do you prefer to write the short stories or do you prefer the full length novels?
Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.

  19. Donna, Jaid Black, owner of EC and a fabulous authors, asked us to participate. There will be 5 more volumes, by the way.

  20. EAch of us has a genre we right more than an other so we wrote what our writers identify us with. It was a nice blending of voices

  21. Debby, A lot depends on the story itself. Sometimes a short story plot is simple enough that making it longer would look like stretching it. Then there are other stories that are so complex I need the full length to tell it properly. It just depends.

  22. Jane, I can assure you the stories are all great.

  23. Hanging it up for the night, but thanks to everyone who came to party with us. Be sure to get your copy of the anthology if you haven't already.

  31. Congrats on the release of SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES: VOLUME 1. It sounds great!

Is it harder to write a short story or a longer one? In an anthology, are all the stories the same word count?

    TOPSAIL246(at)aol(dot)com

  32. @ wandaf, Thanks so much! Enjoy!

@Regina, Thank you. I think there's quit a variety of stories, something for everyone.

@Annalisa, Writing shorter or longer. I think it depends on the story and the author. Some authors like to write a bigger story. some stories can be told in fewer words.
All the stories are about the same, a short novella length.

Like Mel said, this has been a great party. Thanks everyone for helping us celebrate our release. I'm thrilled too to be a part of this anthology with such talented authors.
