Celebrating A New Sypricon Masters Story From Sara Brookes

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating the release of SLOW BREAK, a new erotic sci fi release in Sara Brookes' new Sypricon Masters Series.

Sara Brookes is a multi-published author who has always been fascinated by the strange, the unusual, the twisted and the lost (tortured heroes are her personal favorite). She is an action movie junkie, addicted to coffee and has been known to stay up until the wee hours of the morning playing RPG video games. Despite all this, she is a romantic at heart and is always a sucker for an excellent love story. Born and bred in Virginia, Sara still lives there with her husband and daughter. The entire family is owned by two cats, Galahad and Loki, who graciously allow the family to cater to their every desire.

SLOW BREAK by Sara Brookes

Jack Cotton thought he'd made the right choice to walk away from Tawse, the only BDSM club on Sypricon. But a life-altering tragedy has shown him the error of his ways. Now, he's ready to make amends and is more than prepared to kneel before the Dom he left so abruptly.

Denton is bound by the rules of Tawse, and he knows Jack's membership has been terminated. But Jack's return is all too personal and his actions can't simply be ignored. Forced to make a choice, Denton does the only thing his instincts as a Dom tell him. After all, some men, like rules, are meant to be broken.

  4. Thank you so much, DeNita! Yes, the past few months have been exceptionally busy for me - with this week being one of the busiest. Not only did Slow Break, the next book in the Sypricon Masters series release this week, but I had a m/m paranormal erotic romance novella, Hard as Stone, release with Ellora's Cave as well!

The Sypricon Master series is based around that particular interest I had earlier in the year to work with someting shorter than my typcial novel length books. Tawse, the BDSM club in the stories, utilizes something called "impulse technology". Those familiar with BDSM know collars and cuffs are a typical part of the lifestyle. The cuffs and collars in Tawse employ this impulse technology. Needless to say, these items aren't just for the submissive wearing them. That technology can be applied to anything typically used in the BDSM lifestlye and in Slow Break, that's certainly the case!

Not only does Slow Break utilize the impulse technology in a different way, but it's also the first story in the series to feature a same sex couple. This isn't the first time I've written two men together, but it's one of the first times I've featured them exclusively (Hard as Stone, is the first time I've written a same-sex couple as the love story).

The Sypricon Masters series is unique in that the common threads aren't the main characters of the books. Well, other than the fact they're members or Doms at the club. *g* Each book is a different couple with the club being the common thread that binds them together. The series is designed to be read completely stand alone. No worries if futuristic/sci-fi isn't quite your thing...each book focuses on the situation between the characters inside the club during whatever scene they're playing in. That club just happens to be on a far away planet. So it's a perfect opportunity for you to dip your toe into the genre if you've been sitting on the fence about it.

Thanks so much for stopping by Regina & Donna!

  6. Congratulations on your latest release, Sara! I loved the excerpt. How did you come up with the idea of stories based in the same club?

  7. ilona, so sorry to hear your local library only has two of the series. :^( Slow Break is the 4th book in the series and yes, the series can be read in any order you like. Though the books are numbered, it's simply because it is the order in which they were published.

Thanks, Susan! Reading a BDSM series based in a club really isn't anything new to readers of erotic romance. It's a typical locale for scenes to take place. So deciding to develop a club was only natural. I love any kind of fantasy story, so locating that BDSM club in some foreign locale also seemed natural for me.

  8. Oh wow, I am intrigued by the blurb for Slow Break. I really enjoy m/m romance. I haven't started this series yet. I've just downloaded samples of Impulse Control and Perfect Limit to my Kindle. I think I'm going to love this series.

    Congrats on the new release!

  10. Congrats on this latest, Sara! It sounds like a terrific addition to the series! Do you have a set number of stories in mind?

Hope you're enjoying some warm and happy time during the holidays--will you be taking a break from writing, or do you write every day, no matter the occasion? :)

  11. Oh I really hope you like what you read, Stacie!

Debby, I have several other series, all in various genres. There's a urban fantasy romance series called the Rebirth series. I also have a sci-fi/futuristic space opera series called the Star Runner series. Two of my stand alone titles, Hardware & Ragged Edge are both candidates for future spinoff series.

flchen1, I don't have a set number for the Sypricon Masters series and right now, that's the way I like it. It's open ended and I can add to it when I have time between my longer books. I try to write everyday no matter what. I'm coming up on a vacation from one job, so that means I can work full time on my other job (writing) during that break. I believe a good term to describe me is: workaholic LOL

Thank you all for stopping by!

  12. Congratulations on your new releases. Must admit that I am intrigued by this "impulse technology" that you mention. I love sci fi romance but don't see so much of it. What inspired your love of sci fi stories?

  15. Thank you for stopping by Lil, Bookwyrm and Annalisa!

I'll admit, Lil, I grew up on Star Wars and Star Trek all because of my dad who is a HIGE sci-fi nut. Even though I was only five at the time, I still vividly remember standing in line for Empire Strikes Back, which is one of my favorite movies to this day, with him. He would take me on camping trips just to get away from the city lights in order to be able to see the stars and point out constellations to me on star charts (no iPad apps back then LOL). So my love of sci-fi is in my blood.

Oh it's so hard to choose a favorite scene, but I love the very last scene in the book, which deals with aftercare. The scene the Dom and his sub in this book have is extremely intense and I loved being able to balance it in the end as I did.

I've been extremely lucky with the covers for this series, Annalisa. Decadent has some fantastic artists to work with and they make it too hard to pick just one!

  16. Hi Sara
Congrats on the new release. It sounds great.

Since you picked favorite scene..Now what was the hardest scene to write?

    Happy Holidays!!

  17. Congrats on your new release, sounds really good! What is your favorite part of writing?

  18. Excellent question, elaineg8! There is a scene that involves multiple people, two men & two woman. The choreography was quite something to keep straight as I was writing it!

Virginia, I love creating new worlds and figuring out the little details that make that world tick. It's something every story I write needs regardless if it's sci-fi or contemporary.

  21. Marybelle, Slow Break is the 4th book in the series, but as I stated before, it's only that because of the order of publication. The series doesn't have to be read in any kind of order.

    Thanks, Sherry!
