Celebrating A New Book From Denise Skelton

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating Denise Skelton's new women's fiction release A LIFE OF MY OWN.

Denise is an avid reader who's often found reading four or five books simultaneously. Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Denise is a part of a close-knit family and is lovingly supported by her husband, three daughters and two sons. Skelton draws inspiration from everyday life. As a US Army veteran, and former private investigator, who's just about seen it all, she often awakes with exciting new creative ideas flowing through her mind like a river of words.

Acclaimed author Holly Chase Williams, said, "The emotional satisfaction you experienced as My Everything's mysteries were solved and the conflicts resolved stuck with you long after you turned the final page".

A LIFE OF MY OWN by Denise Skelton

This sounds like quite an emotional story, what was the hardest part of writting it?

    btw, love the kindle price!

  3. Hi. I enjoyed the video. Great tunes. I am amazed that all of your books are so up beat. Most of them have some kind of empowerment in them. Is this a conscious decision or just who you are?

  4. Hi Denise,
    Congratulations on the new release,

i hope you and your family have a
    Happy Holiday Season.

  5. Hello everyone. Sorry it took so long to make it. Thanks for the congrats.

  6. A Life of My Own is about Liz, a woman who's been married for 11 years to a man who has 2 daughter and who is verbally and mentally abusive. Liz realizes that she deserves better, with the help of a new friend, and sets out to find it.

The hardest part of writing it was not to have it turn into a romance.

  7. I guess me writing stories that are upbeat is something that comes from my subconscious. I never really thought about. I like happy endings, and though it seldom happens in real life, I like to think it happens in our dreams.

  8. Happy release day, Denise! This latest sounds like a good one--your stories are so heartfelt!

Do you do anything special to commemorate your new releases? Framed coverflats? New bling? Dinner out? :)

  9. Thank you. When I start a new book, I purchase something I like. Once I bought a bracelet, another time it was a Starbucks gift card. And I wrap it up and put it on my bookshelf. When I finish the book I’m working on, I get the gift.

  10. What a lovely idea, Denise! That's both motivation AND a celebration! How clever!! (I may have to steal that idea...)
