Starla often tends to see things and life through the rose-colored eyes of a romantic. She grew up in a loving family, something for which she will always be grateful. Today she is surrounded by a loving family and many wonderful friends who support her in all of her craziness.
Starla is working toward being a full-time writer of romance, everything from sweet to erotic to naughty, and is multi-published at this time. She is a member of RWA (Romance Writers of America), the current Vice-President/Secretary of Kansas Writers Association, the past president of WARA (Wichita Area Romance Authors), and an affiliate memeber of OWFI (Oklahoma Writers Federation Inc.).
Starla writes in a number of romantic sub-genres including contemporary and Old West cowboys, sci-fi, paranormal, Regency and Medieval. When not writing or dreaming up another plotline and a new set of characters, she might be off traveling somewhere. Well, even when she travels to places like Maui, the U.K., France, Italy, or even spots in the good old USA, she's dreaming and plotting. And taking oodles of pictures wherever she goes.

COWBOYS IN CHARGE by Starla Kaye
Includes seven stories of strong, loving cowboys and the women who try their patience. These are romantic stories with a touch of domestic discipline/spanking.
SNOWED IN WITH HER COWBOY
James wants Kelly to quit work and start a family, but she resists the idea. Will he give up the idea of a family or will he give up Kelly?
TOO MUCH RED AT CHRISTMAS TIME
Lizzie has a bizarre addiction to Christmas shopping and she can’t help herself, even knowing she will face the wrath of her husband who believes in domestic discipline.
FOR THE LOVE OF HIS COWGIRL
Amber misses the fun little games she and Adam used to play. There never seems to be time for steamy sex, or even the spankings he’d occasionally given her for various infractions of rules or for misbehavior. Can she entice him back; get the dwindling fires of their love going again?
COWBOYS AND THEIR TOYS
Jennifer loves Jason and she’d trusted him as he’d led her into the BDSM lifestyle. But now he wants to take things to a more intense level and she’s balking at it. Will she lose him if she doesn’t agree to go 24/7?
Plus three more equally hot stories of cowboys and the women they love.

Thanks for having me here today. I'm really excited about sharing my new Christmas anthology. What fun it was to write about seven "hot" cowboys and the women who drive them crazy at times...and who they love with all their hearts.
ReplyDeleteMy editor, Laurie, and I wanted to create a Christmas anthology and we wanted to write about cowboys. I write a ton of cowboy stories.
I wanted to write stories that dealt with some common problems that all married couples have...not just fictional couples. These are real problems; growing away from each other as a marriage progresses, pressures from the outside, not knowing how to get the fire in a marriage going again, etc.
I also dealt with the problem of shopping at Christmas and how it can be a real problem for some people. For some people who are unhappy or feeling neglected, they shop to feel good...a feeling that doesn't last and can make the problems within a marriage even worse financially.
Personally, I fell in love with each of these men as they tried to figure out how to save their marriage. Of course, the women tried as well. But I like taking a deeper look into a man's POV and seeing him realize something is wrong and that he may at fault, or partially at fault.
I hope you enjoy reading this anthology.
Thanks so much for the download. Your book sounds like fun and I hope to get it. Did you get to pick your cover? Have you ever done your own cover?
ReplyDeletedebby236 at gmail dot com
I have a say in the covers and give suggestions. So far I have not ever done my own cover, but I plan to do some next year for other stories.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy reading this anthology if you get it. Maybe you'll get lucky and win a copy.
I will be blogging at 4 different places on Dec 12, so there will be more opportunities to win a copy. Be sure to check my website for a list of all the blogs tomorrow.
I never know what question to ask on these things. Have you ever gotten to a point in a story and gone... Well I didn't see that coming? Or do you plot everything out.

This anthology is on my Christmas wish list. I'm getting it. Congrats Starla!
ReplyDeleteDonna, yes, I am often surprised by the unexpected from my characters. I do a limited amount of plotting, then just go with the flow. Sometimes my characters change the flow a bit and it usually works for them and for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking.
Casea, thanks for stopping by and commenting. I write Christmas stories every year, but this anthology is far different from my usual ones. I tend to enjoy playing with Santa Claus and his family, with the fantasy elements and making it seem real.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to do something else this year. And I love cowboys, so...
Ooh, congrats, Starla! I love the sounds of this anthology--it isn't too often that I find stories about couples who are already married, but I love all those elements you mentioned that couples face within an existing relationship! Can't wait to read about these cowboys!
ReplyDeleteDo you base characters on real-life people, or do you create them from your imagination? Has anyone claimed to recognize him/herself from your stories?

Congrats Starla on the new release.
ReplyDeleteWhich story was your favorite to write?
Happy Holidays!!

And thanks for the free story :)
ReplyDeletefichen1, I often write stories about couples that are already married, always dealing with some kind of marital issues. But I write many new relationship stories, too.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't really base any of my characters on people I know. I do use familiar situations from lives of people I know sometimes. Elements even from my life. It helps you have a feeling about a situation and how you reacted or how someone else reacted. You can bring more of a "real" feeling to the story that way.
With these particular stories, many of the elements were familiar to me.
Kimmy, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I totally agree, it would be very nice to be snowed in with a "hot" cowboy.
ReplyDeleteelaing8, Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the free read.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed writing all of these stories, but I will have to say that "All I want for Christmas" was my favorite. I love a cowboy or man who is really clueless and then bringing him to his knees. Many men just don't have a clue about understanding that women need actual communication about things...especially about feelings.
I agree. Most men only want to hear their side and that's it. It would be nice to have a strong man but also have one that you can be friends with at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely be looking at your backlist, Starla! And I quite enjoyed James and Kelly's story--you did a lovely job letting us into their relationship and keeping a balance between the sometimes harsher realities of life and the sweetness of their relationship.
ReplyDeleteI Starla hope the season is being good to you, i like what I've been seeing so far so let me had my two cents. What would you be right now if you weren't a author, what was your dream before starting to write books? rshereifa at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeletefichen1, I'm glad you enjoyed this first story and I hope you find others in my backlist that will please you as well.
ReplyDeleteCriss, I'm glad you like what you've seen of my thoughts and work so far.
ReplyDeleteYou asked what I would do if I wasn't a writer, what I dreamed of doing. I honestly don't know. I've done so many different kinds of jobs over the years and I have a degree in gerontology (working with senior adults). I volunteer with a senior group now on the side and work as a community coordinator for an accounting firm. But other than those part time things and my full-time writing now, I really have no specific overall career interest. Never did have one.
I love writing, creating art quilts, playing at gardening, and traveling. And I love observing people, which helps with my writing.
Congrats on the new release. I love reading about cowboys. What does a community coordinator do for an accounting firm?
