SLAVE TRADER: IN THE NAME OF FREEDOM by Carol Marvell

For the past three years, young prostitutes and destitute women have been vanishing without trace. The only common links to their disappearances are their good looks and prison records.

Never before has a cop been taken.

Detective Billie McCoy, a member of an elite undercover squad, is on assignment when she stumbles onto a slavery racket that goes deeper than she could ever have imagined. Plunged into a web of corruption and evil, not only does she have to contend with the slave traders, but also her fellow prisoners – all who hate cops.

Stretching from the streets of Sydney to the rainforests in far north Queensland, it’s a race against time. Filled with determination, disappointment and twists, the story follows Billie’s fight for freedom and her greatest ever challenge. She will need all her cunning and skill to get out alive and see justice done.

Blood will be spilt, hopes will be destroyed – all to uncover a plot so unpredictable that only fate can decide . . .

HIS GOOD FRIENDS by Paul Michael Buck

A veteran of two marriages, seventeen novels and two best sellers, Norman Pope struggles with writer’s block, a nagging prostate condition and loneliness. In an attempt to conquer the doldrums and rejuvenate his creative juices Norman teaches a writing class in his New York apartment, and makes plans to rekindle a relationship with his ex-wife.

Then one of Norman’s writing students mysteriously disappears. Digging through the student’s manuscript, Norman becomes convinced the novel she was writing got her into trouble. He investigates. His indomitable spirit and charge-ahead mentally puts him at loggerheads with a Wall Street financial firm.

Norman is beaten, drugged and framed for the brutal murder of his ex wife. While hiding from the police and hunted down by a hired assassin, Norman turns to the only resource he has, his writing students: an accountant, a pathologist, a cop, a hacker and copy editor. They, along with a professor of literature at Columbia University, fight back against formidable odds.

As the tide turns in Norman’s favor and the corrupt financial firm begins to crumble, Norman discovers things are not what they seem, that a second conspiracy is at play, that he has been duped. With the help of his good friends, Norman unravels the mystery and begins to conquer his personal demons.

My first question is where did the ideas for your stories come from?

  2. Zion's Crossing was originally a nano-novel (a novel written during National Novel Writing Month). An old neighbor suggested that I write a story about the Rumspringa- the Amish 'running around'. Since, of course, I had never heard of it before and had a mere week to do all my research and plot out a 50,000k storyline, it seemed the logical choice ;)

    1. That is so funny. I can't imagine how writers do it at all, but I'm so glad they do.

Can't wait to check out your book.

  5. Yes. Congratulations on all of your releases! All of these books have intense story lines. One of my questions that I have would be for Chalk Town. One of the rules is to "Beware the alligatorsaurus at all times". Is there some roving menace in the original game that will knock out the player? Later in the hostile world that Pip gets stranded in, it appears?
