Samantha lives in San Diego with her husband and fifteen year old son. She is the author of ten novels and novellas including FORBIDDEN: THE TEMPTATION, her latest installment in the critically acclaimed Forbbiden series. In 2007, Samantha left what she used to call her "real life" day job as a pyschotherapist to pursue writing and working in the publishing industry full-time. She now happily spends her days immersed in the world of Forbidden, a world where vampires, werewolves, and demons are real, where magic is possible, and where love still conquers all.

Samantha Sommersby's historical romance UNDER FIRE is now available in ebook and print from Red Rose Publishing.

It's 1917 and Lieutenant Jackson Crawford is in Arabia on an important mission. A seasoned soldier sent to ensure a victory that will secure British interests in the Suez Canal, Crawford was prepared for resistance from the prince; he was prepared for the crude weapons, the hellish sun, and the never-ending sand. What he wasn't prepared for was Harvard bred archeologist turned spy Lillian Barton Drake.

Weeks after Lilly's arrival in the desert she found herself in the center of a bloody massacre. Rescued by the prince she travels as part of his entourage, doing her utmost to gain his trust while avoiding becoming a part of his harem. Then into the camp rides an exhausted Jackson.

In a twist of fate Jack fights for Lilly's honor risking life and limb to claim her as his own. Casting aside common sense the couple begin a passionate affair that sets the desert on fire and is guaranteed to melt your heart. Will their love be strong enough to survive the ravages of war, the duty they've sworn to their country, and the secrets of Jackson’s past?

  1. Morning Sam and congrats on the new print release!!! UNDER FIRE is a little different for you as there are no vampires or werewolves stealing the show here.

    A lot of authors tell me it helps to jump from one genre to another, do you find that to be the case? Can we expect more hot historical romances soon?

    Enjoy the party and I hope the print release of UNDER FIRE is a huge seller for you!

  5. @AuthorIsland - Thanks to hosting the launch party today!
    Q: A lot of authors tell me it helps to jump from one genre to another, do you find that to be the case?
    A. Since I don't normally work on simultaneous projects, it feels more like I immerse myself in one and then another. Paranormal/Urban Fantasy is my first love, but I do believe it's important to stretch yourself as a writer and Under Fire was most definitely a stretch for me. I have great admiration for authors of historical romance. The attention to detail and the amount of historical research that goes into each and every book is amazing.

    Q: Can we expect more hot historical romances soon?
    A: Not any time soon! I'm diligently working on a YA Urban Fantasy at the moment.

    @Valerie
    Q: And where did you get the idea for Under Fire and what about research, was there lots?
    A: The idea came from my friend Shari. We were on a trip together and she was reading Archeology magazine. There was a story in it about American female spies and how they were used during WWI. She turned to me and said, "You should write a WWI romance and make the heroine a spy."

    I started the research that night. I read TONS about how spies were used during the war. I read about the life of a soldier in that part of the world. I read about the local people and customs of the time. Shari's husband is an anthropologist and he put me in touch with someone who had written several books about the Bedouin people. That was a great resource.
