Celebrating Tabor Heights, Ohio's New Year's Eve

Today on our Cyber Launch Party we're celebrating Tabor Heights, Ohio's New Year's Eve with author Michelle Levigne. We'll be talking about the 12 books in Year One of the Tabor Heights series, and looking ahead to Year Two, with the release of INVITATION TO A WEDDING in December, from Desert Breeze Publishing.

A story addict since an early exposure to Dr. Seuss, award-winning author of over 30 novels and novellas, Michelle Levigne has been creating her own stories, heroes and adventures since junior high. She ventures into many sub-genres of science fiction, paranormal, romance and fantasy, including Greek mythology, Narnia spin-offs and her futuristic universe, the Commonwealth.

Michelle writes something for everyone! After all, since she likes to read all over the board, why not WRITE all over the board?

  2. Good morning, everybody, and welcome to the Tabor Heights, Ohio New Year's Eve Party!

Don't know anything -- or much of anything -- about Tabor Heights?
There are two places for information:

    My web site:
    www.MLevigne.com
and click on the sign that says Welcome to Tabor Heights
    (or go directly there: www.Mlevigne.com/tabor-main.htm)

    OR
    The Tabor Heights Today blog:
    www.Tabor-Heights-Today.blogspot.com

The Tabor Heights books are published by Desert Breeze Publishing:
    www.DesertBreezePublishing.com

Today we celebrate the end of Year One in the Tabor Heights stories, and look forward to Year Two.

And of course, like in any good party, there will be presents!
(More about that later -- but if you like mousepads and travel mugs, you're in luck!)

There are 12 titles in Year One:

In alphabetical order, the titles are:

    A Quiet Place
    Accidental Hearts
    Behind the Scenes
    Common Grounds
    Detours
    Firesong
    Forgiven
    Seasons: A Tabor Heights Anthology
    The Family Way
    The Second Time Around
    The Mission
    White Roses

Can you put them in order of RELEASE?

Hint: the list is available somewhere .... like my web site!

The first two people who post the titles in correct order HERE in the comments section, WITH your email address so I can contact you ... will win a Tabor Heights pen, notepad, and White Rose lollipop.

    So get started exploring!!!

  3. Everybody say thanks to DeNita, our intrepid commander of Author Island, who is hosting the Cyber Launch Party blog, and posting these first few messages from me. (Thanks, DeNita!) I'm at church right now, as the party is getting going, but there's nothing worse than a party that's utterly silent for the first 2 or 3 hours, right?

December of this year, the first title in Year Two will be released: INVITATION TO A WEDDING.

    Titles through 2015 are:

    Invitation to a Wedding
Cooking up Trouble (previously introduced characters, Audrey Hathaway and Steve Vincente)
The Wrath of Bubbles (previously introduced characters, Rose Weinberg and Andrew Coffelt)
    Truck Stop Angel
    A Box of Promises
    BWU
The Teddy Bear Dancer (previously introduced characters, Rene Ackley and Vic Thomas)
Wheels (previously introduced character, Tommy Donnelly, learns that wheelchairs are no barriers to romance!)

Now, just because these books have been rough-drafted does NOT mean that the romances featured here are the ONLY romances that will occur in the stories. There's a lot of wiggle room.

    So here's the question:
Do you have any favorite, secondary characters in the Tabor Heights books you've read, who you would like to see fall in love? Any characters you loathed, that you wanted to see "get theirs" and finally face justice?
Any weddings you want to witness?

    I can do that!

Speak up here. Remember to leave your email address with your comment, because here's the deal: I'm going to ask people visiting the blog to vote on the best idea. Or ideas, if there is more than one that really catches your imaginations.
If I can use it, the person who suggested it will receive a mousepad with the cover art for INVITATION TO A WEDDING. As soon as Jennifer, our intrepid art director at Desert Breeze, gives me the final artwork ...

    So start brainstorming, people!!

And as soon as I get back from church and get online, I'll be answering your questions. So start asking those questions, too!
Anybody who posts a comment and participates in the contests -- and there will be several more today -- will have their names put in a drawing for goodies to be given away at the end of the party.
But remember: You have to leave your email address to be eligible. It's kind of hard to contact you for your address, to send you your prizes, if I can't contact you, period!

  4. Do you know about the Arc Foundation and Quarry Hall?

Characters from Arc appear in several Tabor Heights books.

The Arc Foundation is a philanthropic foundation that sponsors missions, charities, free clinics, women's shelters. Arc has come alongside the Mission, Tabor Christian Church's community outreach, and is providing funds and trained workers for various efforts. You learn about the Mission and the Arc Foundation and the residents of Quarry Hall in several books.

In WHICH books do you meet people from Arc and Quarry Hall?

    Maybe this will help:
    Joan Archer
    Nikki James
    Jennifer Deverall
    Sophie Atreides
    Elizabeth Carter
    Harrison Carter
    Anne Hachworth

I need the titles of at least THREE Tabor Heights books where people from Quarry Hall show up, or people from Tabor Heights go to Quarry Hall, for meetings, parties, holidays (big hint!).

The first two people who give me the three titles will receive a Tabor Heights prize pack: pen, notepad, wristband.

    Now, here's the great news
Have you been waiting for it?

Starting in January 2013, Desert Breeze Publishing will release the Quarry Hall books.
    Women's fiction
    Danger
    Adventure
A touch of ... divine interference
    Maybe a little romance
Tough chicks with Bibles in their back pockets, ready to lay it all on the line for the defenseless and downtrodden. Even if it costs them their lives.
    And sometimes ... it will.

The first book is titled simply JOAN, and goes backwards four years in Tabor Heights history, to when Joan Archer lived in Tabor Heights and still hadn't told Nikki James they were sisters.
So what happens in the story?
Let's just say God has to hit Joan between the eyes with His divine two-by-four pretty hard to get her attention ....

  6. Wow, 12 books in the series and another year getting ready to go. How long did it take you to write all 12? What is the release schedule for the next year? Once a month?

    Replies
    1. The original 12 were written over the space of maybe 5 years, with lots of gaps while I pursued other projects, and lots of revisions, as I changed them from stand-alone books to an integrated whole set in one town.

The release schedule for the new year is maybe 1 every 4 or 5 months, with a Quarry Hall book in between. So it will take until 2015, I think, before Year Two is all out.
