Celebrating Jianne Carlo's New Release And New Series

Today on our Cyber Launch Party, we're celebrating Jianne Carlo's new paranormal Viking romance which kicks off her brand new Viking Vengeance Series.

MALICE STRIKER by Jianne Carlo

Viking Vengeance I

Can a mere mortal Viking tame the daughter of a goddess?

When Scotland’s King Kenneth orders his death and kidnaps his sister, the Viking Brökk—the Malice Striker—plans his vengeance: he’ll steal the king’s bastard daughter from Sumbarten Abbey and use her to buy his sister's freedom. But his schemes go awry when his liege lord commands him to wed Skatha—and when he finds five women instead of one at the Abbey, none will claim the King as father.

When the Viking abducts Skatha and her women, she’s bewildered. Why did Brökk seize her? Why does he want her for his wife? She weds him willingly enough when he threatens to kill her companions, but she vows to control her own destiny and escape. For if the Viking discovers her secrets, the laws of his people will force him to cast her aside…or kill her. And even Skatha, daughter of a goddess, might not escape the Viking’s wrath…

Award winning, Jianne Carlo’s motto is simple: Alpha Me Please.

While strong heroines, exotic locations, and cultural differences are her forte, she goes weak in the knees and salivates for warriors of any type – rebels, SEAls, Vikings, and bad-ass mercenaries. Send her a man with an attitude and she’ll find the right woman to tame him.

Jianne’s writing career began in 2008, and since then she’s been lucky enough to have over twenty books published. Most of her books are TOP PICKs and several have been nominated for awards and prizes:

Passionate Ink’s Best Contemporary of 2009 - A Paratrooper in a Pear Tree

Deviant Devil – nominated for The Romance Studio’s Best Suspense of 2011

The Peacemaker – nominated for The Romance Studio’s Best Historical

The Seducer – nominated for Love Romance Café’s Best Historical of 2011

Deviant Devil – nominated for Love Romance Café’s Best BDSM of 2011

Nothing makes Jianne’s day more than an email from someone who’s read one of her books. So far, she’s received emails from almost every continent on the planet. Almost…

  1. Good morning Jianne and super congrats on the new release!

This is a little different for you, right? A historical Viking paranormal series - Viking Vengenace. Can you tell us a bit about this new series of yours - how many books do you plan and how will the books connect?

Tell us about the paranormal twist.

Hope you enjoy your day today and here's to MALICE STRIKER being your biggest seller yet! Have fun!

    1. I apologize for the lateness of all these replies. For some reason, none of my replies or comments yesterday went through.

Thanks for hosting Malice Striker's release party, DeNita and good morning to you, too.

The paranormal twist revolves around the Viking gods and mortals. My heroine, Skatha, is the bastard daughter of King Kenneth of Scotland and the jötunn goddess, Skaði. In this first book in the Viking Vengeance series, I introduce the half-mortals, and the gods and kings who claim them.

The two sets of Norse gods, the Æsir or war gods, and the Vanir or fertility gods who can see the future are on the brink of war. Each faction has fathered or birthed children with mortals, and each seeks to control and protect their offspring.

Brökk kidnaps Skatha to ransom her for his sister, Hjørdis, his half-sister by the god Thōrr. King Harald, his liege lord, orders them married. But, everyone covets Skatha's powers, including Brökk

      Cheers,
      Jianne

    2. I just realized that I didn't answer the first part of your question, DeNita

There are going to be three books in this series, Malice Striker, Death Blow, and Vengeance Hammer.

The books are about three brothers who fall for the daughters of goddesses and the settings for them will vary between Norway and the Scottish Highalnds.

  2. Just moved White Wolf up my TBR list. I've been tooling around your website and having a blast. Does it take much upkeep?

    1. Thanks for dropping in, Donna. Your question made me feel guilty big-time. Why? Because the site doesn’t require much upkeep, but the members’ area does and I’ve been woefully bad in doing so. I am glad you liked the site though – I try to keep it interesting for everyone.

      Good Luck in the Contest!

      Cheers,

  3. I love your White Wolf series! I will definitely be checking out this one as well.

Now, my question, when an idea slams into your head, do you have to write it down immediately or do you let it stew and let the characters and story develop more first?
    Thanks

    1. I’ve found out the hard way, Rhonda, that if I don’t write a new story idea down right away, it simply vanishes from my brain. So, no matter when a new tale pops up, I write at least the first chapter of the book immediately. This makes for some very early mornings as a ton of my tales start out as dreams. The dh hates it when I wake up at 4:30 in the morning and go downstairs and write.

      Good luck in the contest!

      Cheers,
      Jianne

  5. Hello Jianne. Love your name :) I've never read a viking romance before, but is sounds very interesting. How did you come to write about vikings?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh Beckie, I am married to a Viking – it was an unstated promise that I would write a Viking tale one day because of the dh's background.

But, I’ve always been fascinated by the Vikings and have read avariciously about them. I truly believe that the Vikings created the modern world. People always give me the crazy-lady look when I say that.

But think about this – would there have been a King Alfred if there was no need to defend against Viking raids? And if there was no King Alfred, would there have been a William the Conqueror? If there was no Great Britain – would there have been an America?

There you go – the Vikings created the modern world.

      Good luck in the contest!

      Cheers,
      Jianne

    1. Oh my Joye – what a question!!! How could anyone choose between a Highlander and a Viking? I can’t and to prove it, Malice Striker introduces a Highlander by the name of Earl Tighe of Dalriada, who will be the hero of a future Highlander tale. Good luck in the contest.

    1. Thanks Brinda, for that fantastic compliment. Just so everyone knows, I love Brinda's name so much - it's in my book, The Call of a Soul.

You like the Alpha Me Please? It actually didn't take long after I thought of the title for the third White Wolf Book, Alpha Me Not. I know what I like *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*.

    1. Oh my. I love so many different genres, Chey. But I think cross-genres are my faves. You know paranormal Vikings or time-travel SEALs. Anything with warriors. I luuuuve me an Alpha Male. Give me a super-alpha SEAL or a Viking or a Wolf and I'm in seventh heaven.

Did I wimp out and not choose? My bad. :)

      Good luck in the contest!

  11. Jianne, I love the concept of Malice Striker and the image of your inspiration for him.

    My questions for you:
Considering you've published 20 books in 4 years, do you work on a single story until you've completed it before moving on to another or do you work on multiple projects at once?

    1. Thanks for stopping by Qwillia…nice to *see* you again.

I work on two tales simultaneously – one historical – one contemporary. Right now I’m writing Death Blow, Viking Vengeance II and Torch Me, a new SEAL paranormal. If I get stuck on one, I simply move to the other. Writing this way keeps my frustration level low and the differences between the time periods forces me to separate the two books.

      Good luck in the contest!

      Cheers,
      Jianne

    1. Oh Marlene - you do know that's like asking a mom who's her favorite child?

I tend to fall in love with my current characters and right now that's Death Blow and Konáll, the hero. I must admit to having a soft spot for Mús, the highlander transformed by a curse into a mountain lion, too though. Mús has a wicked sense of humor.

      Good luck in the contest!

Wasn’t that a clever way of not answering the question??? *wink* *wink*

  16. I love viking romances. I remember many, many years ago reading viking romances by Johanna Lindsey, Connie Mason and Catherine Coulter.
I don't think I have ever read a paranormal viking story. Paranormal and historical romances are my two favorite genres and I can't wait to read Malice Striker.
    Q. Malice Striker has an amazing cover. Do you have any input on your covers.
    mizztuts AT bellsouth DOT net

    1. I do have input, Tara, and Etopia is particularly great about the writer having input for covers. I fill out a form that allows me to describe my hero and heroine and the setting for the tale. I can correct a cover if the hero has blond hair and the artist has his hair black, but aside from that, there’s not much else I can do and, yes, I have had covers that make me shudder.

Hope you enjoy Malice Striker! Good luck in the contest!
