Celebrating Kacey Hammell's Sexy New Romance

All day today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating a sexy new romance from Kacey Hammell.

DARE by Kacey Hammell

Legal secretary, Olivia Warner enjoys being single and, aside from her closest gal pals, usually keeps to herself. But the night of her thirty-fourth birthday, she and her friends spend a fun-filled evening at a local bar where her friends dare her to approach a man, and spend the night with him. Olivia's not one to turn down a dare, especially from her old college pals. She only hopes the man in question is in for some good conversation, because that's all she'll give him.

Darren “Dare” Shalvis has given up on women. He's tired of being chased for his money, good looks, and prowess in bed. He prefers to meet a woman who, for once, wants nothing more from him than mere conversation. If only the woman asking him to spend the night with her wasn’t his favorite legal secretary.

Accepting a dare has never been so tempting…

The writer: Kacey Hammell is a multi-published author who was encouraged to write by her beloved husband and quickly found herself writing fast and furiously. Not that she'll ever tell him those three dreadful words that he longs to hear..."You were right."

Kacey is a true romantic at heart. Nothing is better for her than two fated mates coming together to find their happily-ever-after. With a love of contemporary settings, modern day romances and the happily ever after, as well as the excitement of suspense, Kacey creates stories in genres she's familiar with and that she loves most. She also loves vampires who nibble the necks of the heroines, ghosts who can't leave a loved one, shape-shifters who are sexier than hell and the thought of her very own werewolf or were-cat to tame makes her tremble! Locked in her office, at her computer, she lets her lusty and exciting characters lead her through their trials and tribulations, love and their adventures. Detectives, P.I.'s, musicians, club owners, sassy and headstrong women all come to life in her heart and on paper.

The Wife and Mom: Born, raised and still living in her hometown in Ontario, Canada, Kacey found true love with her husband. As a Mom of three, Kacey has made certain that each of her children know the value of the written word and the adventures they could escape on by becoming book-a-holics in their own right.

Some of Kacey's favourite authors include: Suzanne Brockmann, JD Robb, Jaci Burton, Sara Brookes, Patricia A. Rasey, Sandra Brown, Rosalie Stanton, Jasmine Haynes, Maya Banks, Terri Schaefer, Lauren Dane, John Grisham, Cherry Adair ... to name a few.

  1. Woo Hoo Kacey! Super congrats on the new release and one the incredible month you've had with the three new releases - AWAKENINGS, TIED DOWN and DARE! Wow - when do you sleep?

Tell us all about your new book and if we'll ever see Olivia and Darren again. Do your stories ever start out being single stories but your characters just beg you to tell more of their stories?

I hope you enjoy your cyber launch party today and I here's to DARE being your biggest seller yet!

    Have fun!

    1. Hi DeNita!
Sorry I'm late. I couldn't access WiFi anywhere at the hospital today. My son had Diabetic Clinic and it was a pain.
Anyway...I'm a mom of 3 and an author, there's no time to sleep LOL It was coincidental that both my pubs had time on their schedules in the same month/timeframe. I've been blessed with great publishers & a family of authors who are happy to feature/interview me, so there's been a crazy balance. I confess, I do like organized chaos!

Dare was given a VERY hard time by a couple of Olivia's girlfriends, so he's constantly nattering in my ear about them getting "what's coming" to them. He's very jolly when he tells me some things he'd like to see. So ... maybe. I just heard him sigh, so you know, probably there will be more, with cameo's by Livvy & Dare.

Thank you for doing another launch party for me! I appreciate it/you!

    1. Hi Susan,

It's all about organization. HOnestly, just organizing things. I write with pen and paper when at the kids' events/social activities etc., then put it into the computer. It's a trick that was given to me by another author, Sara Brookes, who actually does A LOT more pen/paper writing than I do, but it keeps a great balance for me when on the go.

      Thanks for stopping by!!

I'm working on a Menage Contemp story, with about 3 others started (in my head), so it's never boring :D

Do you have a scene in your mind that you haven't been able to fit into one of your stories yet?

  5. Hi Susan! Thanks for the kind words. I adore Dare, glad the excerpt has piqued your curiousity :D

There is a scene spinning in my mind, one that is IMO, very sexy and probably, maybe the hottest I've written. But I only have a rough outline of what the story will be. Haven't filled in all the gaps yet.

    Thanks for stopping by today!

  6. Vanessa, there are many genres I love to read, but romantic suspense/contemporary are my first and foremost books to read.

Thanks for stopping by, and the great question. :D

  7. Hi Kacey...Congrats on the release. Dare sounds tempting. I like that the heroine is not a 20-something, but is a little more mature. I also noticed that one of your other books is book "2.5" in a series. How did that come about??

    1. Hi Catherine,

      I'm glad you're tempted *g*
Olivia has her moments, especially with her girlfriends, but don't we all when we get together? LOL She's been so focused on her career, though it's not a wall street one, she's tired of meeting the Mr. Wrongs, and her friends know it.

The 2.5 is a short story # often used by many authors/pubs. When a short story is "slid" in between 2 regular length stories, the .5 sometimes appears. I hope that makes sense? Ask away if you have other questions.

      Thank you for stopping by!!

    1. HI Annalisa,

Thanks for the kind words! I love all the stories I've written. Illusions being my very first, it's high up there on the list...*shh, my characters hear and see all*

Fave book I've read ... there are so many ... but I always come back to Pride & Prejudice. I read it every couple years. Have had to replace my copy 2x now! The list is so long but that one probably tops it.

Have a great evening! Thnx again for stopping in.

  10. Hi bn100,
Fave thing about Ontario...besides the Trillium, the leaves changing colour in the fall. It's gorgeous and our farm is surrounded by some of the best trees. Very picturesque in the fall. :D

    Thanks for stopping by!

  11. Wow, congratulations, Kacey, and the multiple releases--you're even busier than usual, lucky for us readers! I hope you had a chance to relax a little as well--do you have any "downtime" between stories, or do you pretty much write continuously?

  12. Hi flchen, Yes, crazy busy but loving it. I'm always nervous being "showcased" on blogs, etc. I'm terribly shy and rarely like talking about myself LOL
I do take about 3-4 days off between finishing a story and starting another. There has been a time or two tho that I've jumped right into another but usually I like the few days "off" to let my brain rest. But the characters don't always like that.LOL

    Thanks for stopping by!!

  13. Congrats on another new release, Kacey! I was going to ask where the name Dare came from, but I read that it's a short form of Darren. LOL

    All the best!

  14. LOL Hi Jess!!! Yes, originally, meeting the hero, he just started with Darren introducing himself as Darren, but then as I started to write it and bcuz of the premise with the girlfriends' daring the heroine, it just seemed natural. And I did talk to Dare a few times before I started writing and the things he said...what a daredevil he is! So the name has stuck :D

Thnx for your support and stopping by!

  15. Hi Kacey,

Finally made it by! The book sounds wonderful. You and I have a lot in common, I also love suspense, vampires, ghosts, shapeshifters, and I have 3 children, but they're grown. :-) Enjoyed the interview. BTW, one of your favorite authors, Terri Schaefer, is a friend of mine. She's fantastic! Best of luck...
