AWAKENINGS by Kacey Hammell
In the Arms of the Law – Book Two
Protection. Adventure. Love. It’s all found within The Arms of the Law…
Detective Alicia Knowles once believed good existed in everyone, but a traumatic experience changed her entire world. Now dangerous and cynical, she moves through the darkness of her once-sunny world, unsure how to handle her pent-up feelings of fear and anger.
Even her new boss, Cole Douglass, spins her out of control. One night, years ago, he made her feel things she'd never felt with any other man. Business comes first, however. A child is missing and a murderer is on the run.
But as Alicia quickly discovers, old flames never die out. Temperatures and passion flare. On the trail of a killer, she is forced to deal with her past as she tries to make decisions about her future.

The writer: Kacey Hammell is a multi-published author who was encouraged to write by her beloved husband and quickly found herself writing fast and furiously. Not that she'll ever tell him those three dreadful words that he longs to hear..."You were right."
Kacey is a true romantic at heart. Nothing is better for her than two fated mates coming together to find their happily-ever-after. With a love of contemporary settings, modern day romances and the happily ever after, as well as the excitement of suspense, Kacey creates stories in genres she's familiar with and that she loves most. She also loves vampires who nibble the necks of the heroines, ghosts who can't leave a loved one, shape-shifters who are sexier than hell and the thought of her very own werewolf or were-cat to tame makes her tremble! Locked in her office, at her computer, she lets her lusty and exciting characters lead her through their trials and tribulations, love and their adventures. Detectives, P.I.'s, musicians, club owners, sassy and headstrong women all come to life in her heart and on paper.
The Wife and Mom: Born, raised and still living in her hometown in Ontario, Canada, Kacey found true love with her husband. As a Mom of three, Kacey has made certain that each of her children know the value of the written word and the adventures they could escape on by becoming book-a-holics in their own right.
Some of Kacey's favourite authors include: Suzanne Brockmann, JD Robb, Jaci Burton, Sara Brookes, Patricia A. Rasey, Sandra Brown, Rosalie Stanton, Jasmine Haynes, Maya Banks, Terri Schaefer, Lauren Dane, John Grisham, Cherry Adair ... to name a few.

ReplyDeleteThe In the Arms of the Law series focuses on a group of Detectives, FBI agents, P.I.'s who are connected by blood, friendship, partnerships etc. I originally planned for 9 books -- lots of secondary characters/family -- but I'll do one book at a time and see how things go.
Thanks for sharing my book with readers! I love Romantic Suspense too,and love that I can add more twist to the genre.
Readers, feel free to ask me anything!!
Hi Kacey. Nice to meet you. Congrats on your new release. In the Arms of the Law sounds fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhen is your best time to write?
Mine is when my sons are at school and I have several hours of peace and quiet! =)
Hey Kacey! Congrats on your new release!
ReplyDeleteHow much research did you have to do for this series regarding police work, etc.?
Hi Terri, Nice to meet you too, and thanks for the kind words!
ReplyDeleteBest time to write...usually during day when my kids are at school. Sometimes late at night when all is quiet as well (especially for those love scenes! LOL) Lately I haven't been able to write when the kids are around. It's changed, was always able to but now I can't. :D
Peace and no distractions is ideal!
Thank you for stopping by!
Hi Jessica! SQUEE -- sorry all, but Jessica is just a fave author of mine! Had to get that out. :D
ReplyDeleteResearch was done for guns, police procedures -- wonderful Officer in New Jersey was gracious to give me some info on Suspensions and such, because my knowledge for the most part on that kind of thing is in Canada, since that is where I live, so had to call NJ to be accurate. The guns tho tend to give me pause ... have to double the research on those, as I'm not that knowledgeable about them and frankly, don't care for them so have very little interest. Learning the difference between a Sauer and Glock and other hand guns was confusing at time I admit it! LOL
Thanx for stopping by Jessica!
Congrats on the book! It sounds good. What's your favorite thing to research?

BN, thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteFave thing to research...locales. This series is set in Trenton, New Jersey, so that was fun. But I didn't put a Jersey Shore tone to it at all LOL
Thanks again BN
Congrats. I share a few of the same favs when it comes to authors. How odd is it to write a book that takes place in the US. Do you have problems with the local vernacular or do you get it from television and the movies?

Hi Donna!
ReplyDeleteI try to challenge myself to write in places where I can learn too. That's one of the great things about being an author. I force myself to put something into a story -- locale, occupation and such that i normally wouldn't know to much about or not have extensive knowledge of and learn about it.
The last few that I've written (WIPs) are set in Canada though, so I'd like to think that I'm offering readers a variety of things. My only slip up that my editors have caught is some of the Canadian slang we use, isn't used in the US. LOL
Great question! Thanks for stopping by!
Ooh, congrats on the new release, Kacey! This sounds like a great series! (I do love those connected stories, so this really appeals to me!) Do you enjoy reading the same genre you write, or do you prefer to read outside your genre? Do you think you'd like to try your hand at other genres in the future?

Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely, I do love to read the genre(s) I write in. And I love connected series too. I love JD Robb, Jaci Burton, Lauren Dane, Shayla Black, for example who all have ongoing and multiple contemporary series. And I really enjoy Lara Adrian's paranormal series. I have a paranormal ghost story that I'm polishing up that I'm hoping will receive positive feedback and be released. I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi, have a few authors that I read of that genre but just a few who really draw me in, and I don't think I'll ever try my hand at that genre. I'm so impressed with those that can! And the same with historicals. I have one or two authors I enjoy reading the genre but don't think I could ever pull it off.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!
The winner is ... Donna! I've email you Donna, so please get back to me as soon as you can!
