Celebrating Zenobia Renquist New Release And New Series

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog we are celebrating the release of CHARMED LOVER, which kicks off a new series from Zenobia Renquist (you may know her as D. Renee Bagby).

Renee is a military brat turned military wife who is currently stationed in MD with her husband and two cats.

Whether writing as D. Renee Bagby or Zenobia Renquist, she is a world-builder. She loves inventing new cultures and shaping their histories and laws because it beats researching the existing ones.

Her stories span the fantasy gamut but she dabbles in sci-fi and contemporary from time to time. While her main characters tend to be of different races, she doesn't let skin color rule or limit her stories. For her, it's all about how much she can torture her characters so they earn their happily-ever-after ending.

The rules are all new and pre-conceived notions will only slow you down, so when reading Renee's stories, she asks only one thing -- Leave Your Reality Behind.

D. Renee Bagby and  Zenobia Renquist have Romance Trading Cards available - Check it out!

CHARMED LOVER - Caveat Emptor Book One by Zenobia Renquist

Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware...

Ryver is one of the many humans who owns a vampire. She purchased Theron for home security. When the magic charms keeping the vampires docile and subservient suddenly start failing, Theron goes from protector to threat. A nationwide, mandatory recall of all vampires is in effect. Ryver is ready to comply, but a night of passion spent in Theron's arms changes her mind.

It's only a matter of time before someone figures out Ryver and Theron's secret. With the threat of mages bearing down on them, Ryver has to decide if she's willing to give up her lover - or her freedom.

  2. Hi DeNita!!

    Thanks for having me today.

The Caveat Emptor series is slated to have 7 novellas total. This is Book 1. Book 2 -- Trapped Lover -- is the continuation of Theron and Ryver's story. It's due out at Changeling Press this summer.

In this world the humans are caught in an on-going conflict between the vampires and the mages. There are those who want to live together in peace and those who think fighting is much more profitable. The series follows three couples as they cope with the conflict.

I'm having lots of fun writing it. I hope everyone has as much fun reading it.

  4. Hi, Zenobia.

I can't wait to start you new series; it sounds great.

  5. @Anne - I love trying something unexpected with my stories. It appealed to me to have the vampire in the "submissive" position to someone much weaker than him. I only meant for it to be a one shot, but my muse turned it into a series. What the muse wants, the muse gets. :D

@Tracey - I love my book covers too. Changeling Press has a great batch of cover artists. I use whichever artist they give me. The cover for 'Charmed Lover' is by Marteeka Karland, who is also an author at Changeling Press.

  6. Congratulations on your new release. Will the books be stand alone reads or will you have to read them in order? How many books will be in the series?

  7. @Sherry - You could read each as a stand alone and not get too lost, but they will be better enjoyed in order.

Each book ends in a question mark that leads into the next, which is what spawned the entire seven book series in the first place. The last book won't have a question mark. :P

  8. Wow seven books. Congrats on the first. How long does it take you to write a book?

  9. Do you have a certain kind of music you listen to when you write?

  10. @Debby - Since these are novellas, they don't really take that long. I started the whole series in February 2011, and I'm almost finished (Book 2 is coming soon, Books 3 & 6 are half way done, Book 5 is done, and Books 4 & 7 are waiting to be written). I put the series on hold while I work on a novel for submissions at another pub, but I'll be jumping back into it and finishing soon.

@Robin - I usually like to listen to instrumental music so the lyrics don't distract me. Stuff like Pure Moods.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  11. Wow - a seven book series! I love those because sometimes it takes that long to really learn the world you have built and the characters you created.

Will all your main characters be in all the books? And what is the time span the series will cover?

I love vampires, so I'll be checking out this new world for sure!

  12. @Katie - All of the main characters do not appear in all of the books. They may get a mention but not an appearance.

The series spans a few months... sort of. It's complicated. You'll see what I mean when I get to Book 6. :D

    Thanks for stopping by.
