CONVERSATIONS WITH SWISHY PETE VOLUME ONE by A. Scott Boddie
The fabulous Swishy Pete lives in upper Manhattan with his brassy, sassy friends, Minnie, Char, and Delicious. You’ll recognize him the minute he opens his mouth. He’s out and proud, overly talkative, and in your face. A typical New Yorker, but as soon as you meet him, you will never forget him.
Conversations with Swishy Pete Volume I gathers together twelve flash fiction “episodes” featuring Swishy Pete and his friends as they dish on life in the Big Apple. Sometimes deep, often humorous, these short stories bring a fresh perspective that redefines GLBT stereotypes.
So, honey, come listen in as Pete tells it like it is.

Has anyone approached you to turn these stories into a film or online series?
ReplyDeletelenikaye@yahoo.com
love the cover...the story reminds me of a friend who just moved to NYC after becoming a Steward on AA...
ReplyDeleteSo do you base your characters on people in your life or are the totally fictional?

Congrats on the new release, Scott. What kind of music do you like? Who are your favorite bands or artists?

Congratulations!! Why short stories & not a novel as such divided by chapters?
ReplyDeletemarypres@gmail.com
It's always great getting to know a new author, and will be checking out your Swishy Pete stories.
ReplyDeleteWhat is your upcoming story, 'Esrevinu' and 'Friends Of Dorothy Monologues Act about?

I have never heard of this character before and he sounds intriguing. Did you have inspiration for him?
ReplyDeletedebby236 at hotmail dot com
I just visited your website and read Episode 1: Introducing Swishy Pete. His character sounds so much like an old friend of mine that it's amazing, even the vocabulary and the "spunk" is similiar. The whole time I was reading the excerpt I kept picturing my friends face. I definitely am
ReplyDeleteinterested in reading more.
If the movie industry came a knocking at your door, who would be your choice to play
Swishy Pete? Would it be someone already famous or would you recommend someone you already know?
Best of luck with your book!

Hi,
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good book. I'll have to check it out.
Are all the characters based on people you know or where they just clamoring in your head one day, demanding their stories be written?

Chele, All the stories are 100%fictional.
ReplyDeleteA. Scott Boddie
Joder, I have already written several new episodes for a later collection and my favorite part of writing these stories are the humor and the jokes.
ReplyDeleteA. Scott Boddie
Jane, I mellow kind of guy I like Sade and Maxwell's songs
ReplyDeleteThank you Marybelle, great question, I write Swishy Pete as flash fiction, it is a way to get the thoughts of the characters out quickly to maintain the timing of the jokes and not flood the reader's senses with additional information about setting and descriptions, to maintain the integrity of the humor.

Cathy M, Esrevinu is a new vampire series and FOD are monologues read by gay men speaking about specific turning points in their lives.
ReplyDeleteA. Scott Boddie
Debby, yes, I have met men like Swishy Pete over the years.
ReplyDeleteTara, well, lets see, maybe Jessie Williams, he plays Jackson Avery on Grey's Anatomy.
ReplyDeleteBeth, All the names of the characters came to me one day, all at once. But the quirky behaviors and voices developed over episodes, maybe they are very exaggerated versions of my fav TV and movie stars.
