Marie was born and bred in Scotland, but for some years moved around the UK working and studying. Now she's back home and happily married with three young children. Having grown bored with city life, her family lives in a picturesque village by the sea where, instead of working for a living, Marie is lucky enough to be able to enjoy herself writing stories of romance and fantasy.
She draws the inspiration for her books mainly from the people around her and from Scotland's rich history and culture - with, of course, large helpings of fun and imagination!

BLOOD SIN: an Awakened by Blood novel by Marie Treanor
Months after her dangerous encounter with vampire overlord Saloman, Scottish academic Elizabeth Silk is still trying to cope with both the demands of her ancestral bloodline - which marks her as a vampire hunter - and the overpowering desire she feels for the immortal she brought back from the grave. But she is not alone in her fascination with Saloman.
When Elizabeth tracks down a distant cousin from America, she learns he possesses an antique sword that has caught the interest of the Grand Master of the American hunters. It is the ancient and mystical sword of Saloman - a treasure of vast occult powers and a prize beyond measure to both vampires and humans. Now the race is on for possession of the sword.
Even as her enemies and allies shift their allegiances and battle for supremacy, Elizabeth must decide which will rule her own perilous fate: unwanted loyalty or unholy love.

Super congrats on the new release Marie!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that cover and I know it has special meaning for you because of the castle - tell us about that. And for those who don't know about your Awakened by Blood series, tell us all about it and how the books connect.
Loved the excerpts for the book - especially the action scene - you write that very well. Do you find the action scenes or the love scenes easier to write?
You had some incredible reviews on the first book - so I'm sure book two will get a lot of attention - I hope it ends up being a best seller for you! Fingers crossed!
Enjoy your special week and so glad we are able to celebrate with you!
Congrats on your newest release! Blood on Silk is on my wishlist for quite a time now, but I haven't had the time yet to read it... how many books will there be in the series?
ReplyDeletewish you all the best, Ina

Hello, Marie : ) You know how much I enjoyed "Blood on Silk"! I am very involved with the characters, and anxious to see what happens next with Elizabeth and Saloman in "Blood Sin"! What books have captivated you as a reader? Who are the characters with whom you have become involved?
ReplyDeleteCongrats & wishing you much success ; )
gcwhiskas at aol dot com
I know I love Vampire stories, reading them is just so much fun. Why did you pick Vampires to write about?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new release.
miztik_rose@yahoo.com
Congrats on the new release.
ReplyDeleteWhen you write are there things you must have..like music playing, writing in a certain room, types of food you snack on..etc?
elaing8(at)netscape(dot)net
Thank you, DeNita! Isn't it exciting? :)
ReplyDeleteYes the ruined building on the cover of BLOOD SIN is what's left of St. Andrews Cathedral in Scotland, which is one of my favourite places in the world! I spent four years as a student in St, Andrews and have very happy memories of the place. It's beautiful and stmospheric, spooky and comforting all at once :).
BLOOD SIN follows on from BLOOD SILK, starting six months after BLOOD ON SILK finished. It continues the story of the Ancient vampire Saloman and his bid for world power and, of course, his relationship with Elizabeth, the academic who accidentally awakened him. But as his power grows, so does Elizabeth's...
Hmm, I think the love scenes come to me more naturally, but I do like the odd fight scene too, especially now that Elizabeth's become quite useful :).
Thanks for the party, DeNita - and double thanks for not mentioning how I got the dates muddled up :)
Marie
Hi Ina! Thank you! That's great to hear :). There are three books planned in the series, but I may go back to it later, because I have some more stories forming in my head...
ReplyDeleteHello, Virginia! Thanks for the good wishes and the kind words about BLOOD ON SILK! Difficult question, though - I don't think there's time or space to go into all the books that have captivated me! A few recent ones are: The Time Traveller's Wife, Marta Acosta's Cassa Dracula, Gail Carriger's Soulless etc, Christopher Brookmyre's A Snowball in Hell.
Hi Mary! I suppose I chose vampires because I've always enjoyed reading vampire stories and watching vamp films. It's not the only genre I write in, but it's certainly one of my favourites! I love the age and atmosphere you can create and of course the indefinable sexiness of the undead :).
Hi Elaing! Thank you! No, I'm not really fussy. Sometimes I do like music to put me in the mood, and I ALWAYS like to eat :). But I'll write whatever's going on in the background, and whether or not the shelves are empty :).
Marie
Hi Marie,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the newest release, I really enjoyed the first. Caan't wait to see what you have in store for Elizabeth.
Oh, speaking of castles. Do you have a favorite?
Mine is Eileen Doonan. I will have to check out St. Andrews Cathedral. I will be in St. Andrews in June for a cousins wedding. I've stood on the golf footbridge but I don't think I've seen the Cathedral.
Congrats again,
Sherri

Congrats on the release! Really enjoyed reading the excerpts, liked the one with all the action, wondering what was going to happen.
ReplyDeleteskpetal at hotmail dot com
Thanks, Sherri - very glad to hear that :). Eilean Donan is beautiful - love that one! If you're in St. Andrews, you should definitely go to the Cathedral. And there's a castle too, just a ssmidgeoun further along :).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jean! Glad the excerpts got you :). Good to see you!
Congrats on your book release !!
ReplyDeleteI would like to know how you juggle being a mom and a writer ?

Hi Marie,
ReplyDeleteI already have the book and it is a real winner. You should have mega sales.
Thank you, Kym! To be honest, I think I muddle it rather than handle it :). I write while the kids are at school, but I'm there to collect the wee one, and let the boys have friends in when they come home. So I suppose it works pretty well, in a totally chaotic sort of way!
ReplyDeleteDesiree!! Thanks for dropping in! Thanks for buying the book and being so nice about it :). I'm touched.
Marie
Many congratulations, Marie. I'm sure 'Blood Sin' will be a winner and will sell like crazy. A fantastic series.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Maz. ^j^
Awakened by blood sounds amazing! I have yet to read these and can't wait to get my hands on them. The covers are beautiful and eye catching. Did you have a lot of say in the covers?
ReplyDeletejune111(at)att(dot)net
Oops!! Google thinks I'm my Italian Stallion. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh this sounds so good. I noticed in one of your responses you indicated that you had enjoyed Soulless by Gail Carriger. One of my favorites! When I read the description of this book, it reminded me of the Jessica Andersen Final Prophecy novels. Yeah, I know that the storylines are completely different but the "feel" of them is similar. I am going to check out your books and add them to Mount TBR!
ReplyDeletejepebATverizonDOTnet
Oh thank you, Maz! Glad you could drop in!
ReplyDeleteHi Jolene! Nice to see you here! Thanks for the kind words, and I totally agree about the covers :). I didn't have a huge say in them, but I was asked what I would like, and I thoroughly approved of Blood on Silk, so we went with a similar style for the second, which is very obviouslyt part of the same series - same girl, same dress, differnt spooky place :).
LOL, Maz, IO wondered who Joseph was - now I know :)
Marie
Thanks, Jen, I'm delighted to hear that :). And if you're a Gail Carriger fan, you might like to know that she's going to be a guest of honour at the steampunk party on my blog in July! Yay!
ReplyDeleteMarie
Congrats on the new release! Does the series need to read in order?
ReplyDeletegreenduckie13 at gmail dot com
Marie,
ReplyDeleteI am so excited. I am going to go bookmark your blog! I love Gail Carriger. She was my first introduction to Steampunk. Her Parasol Protectorate series is wonderful.

since this is a series, do you use a computer program or a handwritten list to keep track of all the continuity issues? Looking forward to this book.
ReplyDeletelinze_e at hotmail.com
Hi, Marie! Congrats on your second book in this series! I know you have one more planned--will that wrap up the storyline you have in mind? Do you have more vamps ahead for us?
ReplyDeletef dot chen at comcast dot net
Thanks, Greenduckie! Well, you should be able to read them as individual stories, but I think you'd get more out of them reading them in order. Of course I'm a bit obsessive about reading books in order :)
ReplyDeleteMarie
Hi, I just wanted to know how many books you plan for the Awakened By Blood Series? They are amazing & I just can't get enough.
ReplyDeletemarypres@gmail.com
Oh thank you, Marybelle! It was planned as a trilogy and so far I've only written the three. But one day soon I would like to write more in the same world :). I'll shout loudly if and when I do!
ReplyDeleteMarie
So many comments about the covers and I mus agree, they are spectacular. Cannot wait to read them!!

Hi Marie,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your release. This sounds like a great book. You mentioned you write other genres, which ones?
beckerjo(at)verizon(dot)net
congrats on your new release and I hope you have many more. HAve you ever considered another location? Just think of the excuse for travel you could use.
ReplyDeletedebby236 at gmail dot com
I am dying to read this book. I've been seeing it everywhere lately and it looks amazing. Definitely going on my wishlist. Congrats on the release.
ReplyDeleteiqb99@yahoo.com
Congrats on the new release! Sounds like a great series. I really enjoyed reading both of the excerpts on your site
ReplyDeletelynda98662 @ yahoo.com
Jen, she wasn't my first intro to the genre, but she certainly added a new dimension! Love her style and her humour! See you a the theme parties :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lindseye. I wish I did sometimes, but I'm too disorganized! Sometimes I have to go back through the first book to remind myself of somebody's eye colour :).
Hi Fedora! Yes, Blood Eternal should wrap up most of the threads of the series. But the possibility is there to continue it, and I would like to one day. I'm concentrating on a very different set of vamps just now, though...
Thanks, Robin! Glad you like them too!
Hi JoAnna! I've written in various paranormal sub-genres including shifters and witches and ghost stories. I've written futuristc/scifi, steampunk, time travel romance, and dabbled in suspense. I'm a terrible genre-hopper and tend to mix them up, even in one book :).
:) Debby! I consider lots of locations, many of the sadly ruled out by my purse! But I do try to make use of locations I know, both in Scotland abroad.
Thank you, Danielle, that's great to hear :) Hope you enjoy it!
Hi Kytaira, thanks for reading the excerpts! Glad you enjoyed them!
Marie
I've had my eyes on this series since book 1. The covers are quite stunning.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
