Virginia was born and raised in the southwest where she still lives with her husband, five kids, and two Yorkies. A love of reading sparked her desire to write her own stories. DECEPTIONS OF NIGHT - Order of Night Book Two by Virginia Cavanaugh

Tempers run hot through the members of the Order of Night as Lex tries to settle in as the new Triad vampire. But when a jaguar attacks him in his bed, his life gets turned upside down, and he discovers a new meaning to keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

Kill the triad vampire or your brother dies. Shayla grudgingly accepts the assignment. But she soon realizes that success is easier said than done as she lies prone, trapped against the floor and secured by the body of one pissed off sexy leech.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Lex wants answers and Shayla wants her brother returned alive. They form a shaky truce as they seek out the man who has both. Fierce attraction pushes them closer as mistrust tears them apart.

Deception lays in wait around every corner as they struggle to find the master mind behind the traitors to the Order of Night. As the tension rises, desire begins to burn with an intensity that threatens to consume, leaving them to question whether they can find what they seek with their lives and hearts intact.

  3. Hi, Virginia.

You're a new author for me but not for long.

When you wrote Secrets of Night, did you know there would be a sequel? How many books do you plan to publish in this series?

    Thanks,
    Tracey D

  4. Hello, and thanks for stopping by for my cyber launch. :)

@ June That's a hard question, but in the end I think I would choose werewolf. They seem to have the stronger alpha male types. :)

@ DeNita Thanks so much for having me here today. :) This series is based around a ruling government made up of sorceresses, vampires, and shape-shifters. After hundreds of years of warring against each other, a shaky truce was formed between the three races. But a group starts breaking major rules and that truce becomes even more fragile, leaving everyone to question who they can really trust.

@ Tracey When I first began plotting Secrets of Night, it was going to be a stand alone novella. But as I got further into it, I realized there was just too much going on for me to cover it in one book. Also as I started creating my secondary characters, they began speaking to me about what they seen themselves facing and what type of person it would take to claim their hearts. As of right now I have six books plotted out in this series. Out of the six, Secrets of Night appears to be the only short story in the group. But honestly, it could very well end up being ten books in all. As I write sometimes, things take turns away from my plot outlines, and new problems are created for me to set two characters on to fix. :)

  6. Do you base your character's physical appearance on particular people? Some authors use a celebrity, model or athlete as inspiration for their character's look.

I love the excerpts for the first two books. I'm looking forward to starting this series. Congratulations on your new release!

  8. @ Tanya I came up with the names in this series off the top of my head.

@ Stacie, I seem to base their appearence on their personality.

@ Danielle somewhere between six to ten books.

  9. Love series that intermingle paranormal people. Are you able to work on more than one story at a time or do you have to focus?

  11. When writing a series do you plan the entire series before beginning on book one?

  12. @ Lindseye I write more than one book at a time in a way. Once I hit about mid point on a story though I tend to focus on it, or if I have something that needs to be in by a certain date then I drop the others and focus on that. At this point I have nine stories that I have started the actual writting on. There are several others in drawers that are on paper still being outlined and plotted. :)

@ Sherry Your question is hard. If three books I wanted to read came out on the same day and one was historical, one paranormal, and one romantic suspense, I would buy all three but I would most likely read the paranormal first. I just like way to many things and like reading so much that it is hard for me to pick favs. As far as authors go, that is another that I would have a hard time answering. But I can list some of my favs. Kresley Cole, Karen Moning, Jessica Andersen, J R Ward, Nalini Singh, Johanna Lindsey, Constance O'Day Flannery, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Heather Graham. Debra Webb, Rachel Lee, I could really go on and on.

@ marybelle In a way yes. The story itself comes at me as a whole, but the whole story is large and I have different people handling each piece of it. I usually use spirals for this. Get like five subject notebooks and lable out each book and what needs to take place in it and then out line each as I can.

  13. This story has shifters and vamps. Do you think you will use other paranormals in the subsequent stories?

  15. @ Jen B This series has sorceresses as well. :D

@ Debby In a way yes. I read a lot of paranormal, so that helps, letting me know what is out there. then searches on the net help as well.
