Celebrating the Launch of Buffi BeCraft's CREATURE COMFORTS

Buffi BeCraft writes Romantic Paranormal fantasy (as Buffi BeCraft Woodall) with a heavy dose of East Texas thrown in. Her first book was the result of a challenge. At the time Buffi was casting around, trying to come up with an idea for a book that was both marketable and fun to write. When her mother insisted that no one could write a paranormal she would be able to understand, the war was on. She wanted to create a book that was easy for those uninitiated to the whole paranormal/fantasy genre to both understand and enjoy. Buffi is happy to say that her mother is now waiting anxiously for the next release.

Currently, Buffi is hard at work on more of the Blue-Collar Werewolf series as well as a book related to Conjuring Cal. As a single parent of 2 dogs, 1 recently acquired stray cat, 2 teenagers, and 2 supportive parents, she stays busy finding time to daydream her fantasies into book form.

Buffi's Blue-Collar Werewolf books are all published by the great people at New Concepts Publishing: Weremones, PMSing, Making Tracks, and Creature Comforts.

Love or loyalty? That is the question that pack warden, Chase Redding, must answer.

As death and tragedy stalks the heart of the Anderson County Pack, Chase must choose his priorities. The safety of his pack or the love of his life? Waking up matebonded to a fugitive wolven female on the run from the Hunter when he’s supposed to be protecting pack territory just complicates the heck out of his job.

India Demos is tired of running. Accidentally matebonding a warden is just the break she needs to hide out from one of the Hunters. Proving her worth to the pack is expected, falling for her reluctant mate isn’t.

Avenge the death of one of their own. Get the girl. And kill the Hunter for a wolven’s favorite prize—Cookies! No one ever said a warden’s job was easy. But if he can hold on to her, a woman like India just might be worth her weight in dessert.

  4. When did you start writing professionally Buffi?

And how many books will be in your Blue Collar Werewolf Series? I love the idea of real working men turning into wolves at night. When do they sleep?? lol...

What is your other book about?

  5. Wow what great cover and best of luck with the new book.

Do the books in this series have to be read in any order or are they stand alone books. And how about the read reads, any spoilers in those for someone who hasn't read any of your books before?

  6. I meant "free reads" not "read reads"... hey I just got home from work, I'm lucky to have a brain left at all...

  7. Hi Buffi,

Both excerpts sounded great. I'm glad someone is writing about blue collar workers even if you make them weres. lol

  8. Buffi, did you make your covers? I know you're an artist, too, so I'm wondering.

  9. Darn, I missed the party. Had to work late last night and turning on the computer was the last thing I wanted to do.

I love that you wrote about working men. My dad was a plumber who worked on big job sites and those guys he worked with were the best. Great guys! So I love that you picked that group of guys to write about...I've been tired of the millionaire businessmen!

    Keep it going!

  10. I too am glad to find a story about blue collar workers and not always rich dudes.

  11. Hi all! Thanks for coming to the party! Don't feel bad for those who missed the actual time/day. My day was busy, busy, busy too and this is the first I've been able to swing by.

these were some great questions and comments tossed out.

About the working guy angle: My dad was a contractor until I hit my teens. So to me growing up in that environment, the working guy is the ultimate guy to me. Yeah, yeah. James bond and the rich guys are cool, have gadgets galore. But when it comes down to it, who's more sexy when you're both stuck in the middle of nowwhere, no cell phone and your car breaks down? The hot handy guy who can fix it, that's who! lol.

Covers- yep, I do make covers for another small publisher, and I'm very proud of those covers. I push those just like I push my own werewolf books. The free ereads- I made those covers. owever, I didn't make the ones from my regular books. Since I've started doing covers, I do appreciate the artists who do mine more.

How many BC books am I planning? How ever many it takes. The story has taken on a life of it's own, lol. Be prepated, Creature Comforts is the first of some of the new surprises in store for my BC fans. (rubbing my hands together here with evil glee!)

The free ereads and spoilers- You might read White Hat Wolf before Creature Comforts. But I don't think that it gives anything away. It was written to give the reader a bit more insight into Bradley. (and yes, he will get his own book...eventually. I have plans for him. (more evil laughter here)
Ardent Change is set about four years in the future from Creature Comforts. Rice is about twelve in CC. The end of Ardent Change is a surprise, lol.
Lab Rats is important to the overall BC story and the direction it's going, but has nothing to do with the already released books.

When did I start writing professionally? I set out in Jan of 2005 with the intent of writing a saleable book. (2001 - 2004, I spent studying anything I could get on writing, following a mentor's advice, then getting anyone to read the stuff I jotted down. I spent two years rewriting a fantasy that never was finished.)
Weremones was published in Dec of 2006. Let me tell you, I KNOW there are multitudes of authors out there who didn't sell their book that fast. I KNOW that I am blessed at how my 'second full-time job' has turned out and I cannot be thankful enough for it. I am also very appreciative of all the support I get from my loved ones so that I can devote so much time to writing.

  12. Hi, Buffi.

As always, I'm late for the party.

Anyway, what is your opinion on book trailers? Do you think they help in book sales?

    Thanks,
    Tracey D

  13. About Creature Comforts Book 4 of the Blue Collar Werewolf Series.

First off, let me tell you that the BC books are pretty involved and only going to get more involved. I've tried to write them so that each story can stand alone--but hey, they are a series and the overall plot is devoloping and growing. Plus, you will meet characters who go away and come back later. Some of the fans' most favorite of characters are those that they've been with as the characters 'grew up', like Mark the ADHD werewolf. So, I would suggest reading all of them.

Second, where do the free ereads fit in? The free ereads will show up on my yahoo group from time to time. They are little insides to different characters. Some of them will be pertinant hints in the overall story but not so much that you will miss anything big that won't be reavealed later.

    My yahoo group is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buffibw/

HA! About Creature Comforts- This book took a WHILE to write. More because of me than anything else. The story itself practically haunted me, lol. For those of you who always wanted to know more about Chase, like say, his last name-- it's revealed in Creature Comforts.

From the beginning, in Weremones, both Chase and Tank facinated me. Thier combination of gold badboy and the dark supersmart warrior biker knights were the perfect foil for one another. Together they were complete. Tank and Chase needed no one else, save each other's company. They are best buds, as Chase puts it. Brothers of the soul, not by birth. Where one goes, so does the other.
So where did these dudes come from? I had no idea. For three books, they kept their mouths shut. Then out of the blue, I had an idea for a werewolf female story. And India Demos was perfect for one of my wardens. (Pack protectors) So who?
Chase is someone who has grown to appreciate his pack and has the capacity and willingness to do ANYTHING needed to do that job. India has the capcity to do what it takes to survive. She needs a pack and will do anything it takes to find one for what is left of hers. -- Enter Chase.
So what does a woman do when she'd do ANYTHING to protect what is left of her pack? She takes it.
And what does a love 'em and leave 'em male who only needs his pack and his best friend do?
Make a bet win the best batch of cookies he's had in a LONG time.

All's fair in love, war, and COOKIES!!!!!!

  14. Book trailer:

Personally, I love them. I think that they are a wonderful tool if used smart. I'm still trying to figure out the smart part, though.

However, if you are just starting out, I wouldn't suggest sinking a lot of money into one. I've seen some nice ones done with Windows Movie Maker. As a matter of fact, I did the one for PMSing with Movie Maker and for Weremones. The program is a nice drag and drop variety that allows you to add music, voice overs, etc. It's not as simple as pie though. You still have to adjust timings, make sure you have all the slides set up. Figure out how to enter the the text. But overall, it's a great program with a learning curve.

Hmmm. You just reminded me that I need to finish the one I have started for Creature Comforts. Still looking for music and someone with a nice voice for a voiceover. My Texas accent has enough of twang to make me cringe.(smile.)
