Lori Foster first published with Harlequin in January 1996. Her second book launched Temptation Blaze and her 25th book launched Temptation Heat. Since those early days, Lori has routinely had 6 to 10 releases a year. She's a Waldenbooks, USA Today, Publisher's Weekly and New York Times bestselling author with over 80 titles published through a variety of houses, including Berkley/Jove, Kensington, St. Martins, Harlequin and Silhouette.
Lori believes it's important to back to the community as much as possible, and for that reason she ran special contests in conjunction with a publisher, facilitating many first sales for new authors. She routinely organizes events among authors and readers to gather donations for various organizations.
Along with her good friend, Dianne Castell, Lori hosts a very special annual "Reader and Author" event in West Chester Ohio. Proceeds from the event go to benefit worthy causes, including the Hamilton County YWCA Battered Women's Shelter, the Animal Adoption Foundation, and The Conductive Learning Center for children with spina bifida and cerebral palsy. BUCKHORN BEGINNINGS by Lori Foster
MORGAN
Buckhorn's big, bad sheriff, Morgan Hudson, wants a wife - one who's even-tempered, undemanding and content with small-town life. So why can't he stop thinking about brazen Misty Malone? The dark-haired city girl is downright aggravating - not to mention she's found herself on the wrong side of the law. But though she may not be perfect, Morgan is hell-bent on convincing her they'd be perfect together!

ReplyDeleteLil, I've written something 4 or 5 writers now, and readers always ask if any part of "me" is in the character. :-) Other than being a writer, the answer is no! LOL

Elizabeth, so far my MMA guys have been my fave. :-) Love the sport!
Have a great day everyone!
Lori
Love the Buckhorn Brothers!! I'm wondering... Lori, do you ever base a hero or heroine on real life people or events that you encounter in your daily life?
ReplyDeletesarawatts18@gmail.com
Lori, love all of your work! You're one of the best! Did you base any of your MMA characters on Dana White?
ReplyDeletehollingsworthrobin@yahoo.com
Do you set out to write a series, or does it just happen as you are writing the original story?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the reissue! I'm liking the cover :)
ReplyDeleteHow do you choose the names for your characters? What comes first their personality, a visual picture or their name?

ReplyDeletetsh513@embarqmail.com
Lori, woo hoo its finally here, I have been looking forward to this release! =) I haven't had the chance to read this series yet. My question is when did you know you wanted to become a writter?
ReplyDeletedavey.shelby10@gmail.com

Love the cover for the Buckborn Brothers! I've never read the originals so this would be a treat. My question for Lori is if she's planning to re- release other of her previous works which are out of print and if she is, what will be next?
ReplyDeletemaria63303(at)gmail(dot)com
I am glad that you have reissued this series. I haven't read it yet. How often do you reissue books?
ReplyDeleteLori what is your favorite Halloween candy? Sorry it's that time of year and I'm curious. Congrats on the reissue, it's great for those of us new to your books :)
ReplyDeletecrystalfulcher(at)ec.rr.com
Hi Lori :) Congrats on the re-release of this series! I love the cover!! How are you celebrating this acomplishment?? Keep writing!

Redzsm (at) yahoo (dot) com
On the candy - I like milk chocolate and caramel! :-) Yum! Milk duds and Twix work for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't really celebrate writing stuff anymore. There's enough wonderful family stuff to keep us busy celebrating. ;-)
None of my characters are specifically formed from real people. Bas Rutten was the physical inspiration for the hero in my book, "Simon Says." Yummy looking guy!
The art department for the publisher chooses the covers, but I have cover-approval. If I *really* hated something, I could get it changed. Luckily, I like most of the covers I get.
"A Perfect Storm" will be the 4th book in the "Men Who Walk the Edge of HOnor" series, coming out in April 2012. After that, I'll have an all new series that deals a lot with undercover cops. I'm better than halfway through the first book of that series.
The other Buckhorns will be reissued too, with "Forever Buckhorn" (Gabe & Jordan) available in Feb 2012, and "Buckhorn Legacy" (Casey's book) in Nov 2012.
Thanks all!
Lori
Congrats!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a favourite genre?

ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this series before.I'll have to check them out.
What was your first impression after seeing this cover? (hot btw) :)
elaing8(at)netscape(dot)net
Do you think you've grown as a writer? Do you get better with each book you write? Are you afraid you may run out of ideas or is your head so full of them it's hard to write fast enough?
ReplyDeletepennsdog@yahoo.com
I love your books I love your books Lori and the Buchorns are some of my favorites. Which Buckhorn is your favorite?

I think the Buckhorn brothers were some of the first books of yours i read. I can't remember now how i came across them but that i couldn't find them all. Thank you paperbackswap for the rescue on some and then i bought the 4 as a set for Kindle. The new covers are amazing. I have a cover flat for Buckhorn Beginnings. Staring at it right now over my desk lol
ReplyDeleteYou right alot of stuff in the KY/OH area which cool since my husband is from the area where Buckhorn KY is located. Do you have books nor written from that area and have you ever considered trying to write a genre you haven't before?
Lisa B
Congrats Lori! I was wondering if you ever base a book on things that happen to you in real life?
ReplyDeletelead[at]hotsheet[dot]com
Congratulations on the re-issue. How do you decide which books to re-release.
ReplyDeletemarypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Well, I thought I already commented one time! Guess it didn't take.
ReplyDeleteHow do you put out so many releases in a year? Do you ever stop writing? LOL. Good for us readers though. Don't ever stop writing!

I don't choose the reissues, the publisher does.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have "me" in any of the books, but of course, and idea can grow from something that happens to me, something I see, or something I hear. One tiny kernel of inspiration can morph and expand into a full-blown plot.
I like the reissue covers, but I wish the guys had hair on their chests! LOL.
I'm done for the night. Thank you everyone for visiting!

ReplyDeleteDebby236 at gmail dot com
I wasn't as big a reader when this series was first released, but sure glad that I am now. Love the covers and trailers that are done for your work.
ReplyDeletelenikaye@yahoo.com
Congratulations on the reissues. I love your books a lot of them make me laugh out loud. I love that a lot of them are set in KY. That's where I'm from and it's nice to have it talked about in books and it not be totally negative.

Congrats Lori on the reissue, which is sure to add to your fan base. I somehow missed the Buckhorn series the first time around & am looking forward to reading them. Since there is only one hot male on the cover of Buckhorn Beginnings, which brother is he?
ReplyDeleteoops, forgot to include my email.
ReplyDeletedrainbamaged.gyzmo at gmail.com
The Buckhorn Brothers are one of my favorite set of books by Lori. I can remember when I first read them that I hoped she would write Casey's story and she did...LOL
ReplyDeleteLori's books are always a must read. I have to be careful that I don't double buy some of her books because I get so excited when I see her name on one that I automatically grab it without even looking at the title or blurb... :)
