As a young girl, Sarah Grimm always had a story to tell. At times they were funny, other times scary, but they were always happily-ever-after.
Sarah lives in West Michigan with her husband, two sons and three miniature schnauzers. Between mom's taxi service, parts runs, and answering the phone for the family marine repair business, Sarah can be found curled in her favorite chair, crafting her next novel.

AFTER MIDNIGHT by Sarah Grimm
Thirteen years - that's how long Isabeau Montgomery has been living a lie. After an automobile accident took her mother's life, Izzy hid herself away, surviving the only way she knew how. Now she is happy in her carefully reconstructed life. That is until he walks through the door of her bar...
Black Phoenix singer/front man Noah Clark came to Long Island City with a goal--one that doesn't include an instant, electric attraction to the dark-haired beauty behind the bar. Coaxing her into his bed won't be easy, but he can't get her pale, haunted eyes nor her skill on the piano out of his head.
Can Noah help Isabeau overcome the past? Or will her need to protect her secret force her back into hiding and destroy their chance at happiness?

ReplyDeleteUmmm, you're going to make me think right off the bat, huh? LOL
I usually summarize After Midnight like this:
She wants to forget her past.
He wants to reclaim his.
Sometimes the moment that changes everything comes After Midnight.
Although as I type that I realize it's more of a tease than a summary, isn't it?
The idea for After Midnight stemmed from teenage fantasies about meeting and marrying a rock star, combined with the maturity to know that a twenty-something musician is not happily-ever-after material. Add to that the picture in my mind of a woman alone in a bar, playing the piano. That picture spawned a series of 'what if' questions which developed into the book.
Thanks for throwing this party for me!
CONGRATULATIONS, SARAH! You know, maybe that's why I love this story so much. I've always been a groupie at heart. In fact, I married by very own rock star. Something about a man with a guitar, and I turn to mush. Here's to much success for After Midnight and a boatload of sales!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, AJ! Is it wrong of me to join you in wishing for a boatload of sales? *grin*
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your release !!!

ReplyDeleteThere will be at least one more book. While writing After Midnight, one of the secondary characters kept telling me he needed his story told, so I'm writing that one now. Midnight Heat is a reunion romance that begins about seven months following the conclusion of After Midnight.
Did you know a lot about rock bands prior to writing this book or did you do research to get details correct?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your book...sounds like a great read!

ReplyDeleteMusic has always been a huge part of my life, so a lot of what's in the book I already knew. I either learned about it playing instruments or from friends of mine who were in a band and traveled clubs all over the US. The band in the book is only just beginning to get their careers back in order, so I actually didn't have to do much research.
However, there will be at least one more book in this series, and for that one there are a few details I will need to look into.
Happy Release Sarah! Nice trailer. It must be wonderful to play. My mother gave up on giving me piano lessons after six months. I was always out of tune, and yet I love music. My own niece is an opera singer. Didn't take after me!LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy release day!!
ReplyDeleteAFTER MIDNIGHT looks wonderful. Why piano playing? Why this instrument in particular?
marypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Mona- I would love to still be able to play the piano. I gave it up as a young girl. My instrument is the string and electric bass.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in today.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why I chose the piano. Maybe because it's the one instrument that I wish I hadn't given up on. And I so love to hear a talented piano player - just beautiful.
Happy release day for After Midnight, Sarah :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the trailer & the excerpt ROCKS.
Is there a follow up planned?

ReplyDeleteThanks so much! There will be at least one follow up - the story of Noah's best friend and bassist, Dominic. And I've already received a few requests to write a third, the drummer, Alex's story. I'm not quite ready to tackle Alex, but Dominic's story is about 1/2 complete.
I love books with a little mystery. Thanks for the giveaway.

You're welcome, Jen! Thanks for stopping by and visiting.
ReplyDeleteHi thanks so much for the chance to win y our book. I love the cover. Do you get to help in the design of the cover?

ReplyDeleteThe only input I had in the cover was when I filled out the art sheet for it. For those who don't know, an art sheet asks for descriptions of the hero and heroine, the tone of the book, whether there are any celebrities that resemble our characters, and lastly, whether there is something that plays an integral role in the book - which for After Midnight is the piano. For my cover, the hero and heroine actually have each others hair color - the heroine should have the dark hair and the hero the blonde, but I was so very in LOVE with this cover that I've never said anything. Oops, until now. *wink*
I love the question asking if music can heal a fractured soul. Did you listen to any particular songs/musicians while writing this story?

Leni-
ReplyDeleteI listen to music constantly, except when I write. I need total silence when a write or I can't 'get into' the character. After Midnight was also difficult for me because there really wasn't a 'playlist' for this book - a list of songs I could listen to before I sat down to write that helped me set the write mood or tone for the characters. I always have a playlist. But for After Midnight there wasn't one.
Some of my favorite bands are: Shinedown, Theory of a Deadman, Nickelback, Default, Breaking Benjamin and 3 Doors Down.
Congrats on the new release. you are a new author for me and am always looking for new books and authors to read. This book looks great and would love to win and read.
ReplyDeleteMy question for you is in your spare time do you get to read others books? If you do, who do you like? Any favorite authors or books? Also if you could write any other genre, what would you write?
Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.

ReplyDeleteI love to read and do so whenever I have to time. I enjoy Linda Howard, Tess Gerritsen, HelenKay Dimon, Rachel Gibson to name a few.
Hmmm...if I could write any other genre, what would I write? I don't think I would change genres. I just love writing romance so much!
Congrats on your release! Awesome cover! Your book sounds great! Who are some of your favorite authors to read?
