Celebrating A New Release In Alexandra Kane's Phoenix Files

All day today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating Alexandra Kane's brand new release EMBRACE THE NIGHT, the second book in her sexy paranormal series The Phoenix Files.

A woman, a mother, a wife, and a self-proclaimed Southern Belle, Kianna Alexander (also writing as Alexandra Kane) may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but she can write a tall tale in a single sitting. Born and raised among the pine trees of North Carolina, Kianna has always been a voracious reader. Cereal boxes, billboards, and other unconventional sources fed her unquenchable appetite for the written word. Soon, as she entered adolescence, Kianna realized that she enjoyed writing the words as much as she enjoyed reading them.

First, Kianna tried her hand at poetry, but upon discovering it to be both sappy and crappy, she moved on to plays. That was short lived, as writing those darn stage directions was both boring and maddening! Soon she discovered that prose, and romance in particular, is where it's at.

Writing African American and Interracial romance, in the sub genres of romanctic suspense, historicals, and paranormal romance as both Kianna Alexander and Alexandra Kane, she also dabbles in young adult romance.

EMBRACE THE NIGHT by Alexandra Kane

The Phoenix Files Book Two

John Groves is a professor of World History in Raleigh by day. But outside the world of academia, he uses his special talents as a telekinetic to fight crime as a member of PHOENIX.

Tatiana Yates owns a beauty shop in downtown Durham. After leaving the hot curlers and shampoo bowl behind, she releases the tigress within, running free in the forests around RTP. And ripping the bad guys a new one as a seasoned PHOENIX operative.

When the two are paired together to solve the mysterious disappearance of priceless artifacts from the North Carolina's Museum of History, can they fight their fiery attraction long enough to get the job done?

  8. Okay, trying my question again since that didn't come out right the first time. I love the sound of the new book and am wondering how long you see this series going on for and what's up for you next?

  9. Hi,
Regina- you can follow me on Twitter - @AuthorAlexandra

Joder- I'm contemplating a third and possibly fourth book in the series but it really depends on reader response to the first two books. If sales do well, I will continue with the next book, Midnight's Serenade.

Next, I have some historicals under my Kianna Alexander name. Look for the first one, set in 1849 Pennsylvania, in early 2012.

    Thanks for the questions!

  10. Both the characters introduced sound amazing. I can't wait to meet them & for them to meet. Why telekinetics?

  11. Hi, Marybelle,
    Thanks for the question.
I always found telekenesis fascinating, and I thought it could be a fun idea to explore. I also thought it fit my hero's personality, he's kind of brooding and stubborn.

  12. Since you've written poetry and plays, have there been any that have inspired any of your work?

  13. Oh goody a new author! I love paranormal and by the sound of this series, it should be right up my alley. Do you have to read the books in order?

How spicy are the books? Can a teenager read them or are they pretty sexy? And do you have any YA out yet?

  14. I very much enjoy paranormal romances. Will your Phoenix Files series have different kinds of paranormal charactors? What is in your first book and what kind of different charactors do you plan for your upcoming books in this series?

Good luck with your books and I hope you do continue your series, sounds great!

  15. Leni-
I loved the poetry of Langston Hughes growing up. As far as plays, I would have to say The Crucible was my favorite.

    Katie-
The books are related only by the organization, PHOENIX, which is kind of a crime fighting outfit. So you could read the books in any order you like. They do share some of the same characters as well.

    Sharon-
I am going for a different type of character in each book. I fell the vampire thing is a little saturated so you won't see them. I've already used shifters and telekenetics, and the third book is a sorcerer hero with a psychic heroine. I want to kind of think outside the box, and give readers a wide array of characters with special abilities.

    Thanks for all the questions!

  16. -Katie, I forgot to address you other question, sorry! These books have one sex scene each. My first review at Bitten by Paranormal Romance rated the book "flirty". No crude language or anything, so I would say 17 and older.
I do have one young adult story out, a short story called Under the Winter Moon. It's only available on Kindle, and you can find the details on my Alexandra Kane page at Amazon Author Central.

    Thanks!

  17. Hi Alexandra, You are a new author for me and am always looking for new books and authors to read. This book looks great and would love to win and read.
My question is in your free time do you ever get to read? If you do what are some favorite authors or books you like to read.
Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.

  18. Hi, Chrisbails,
I love to read, though I don't have nearly as much time for it as I'd like. My absolute favorite author is Beverly Jenkins, who writes mostly Reconstruction era African American historical romance. I also read Marcia Colette's paranormal romances and urban fantasies, as well as Sarra Cannon, Gwyneth Bolton, Lena Matthews, and so many more.

    Thanks for the question!
