Celebrating Two New Releases For Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy

Today at our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating the release of Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy's new romantic suspense WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM and her new time travel romance, A TIME TO LOVE.

Lee Ann is a Missouri native. Although she emerged from the old neighborhood in her hometown of St. Joseph, Missouri to make her home in the rugged Missouri Ozarks long ago, she retains nostalgia for the hometown.

Her first novel, Wolfe’s Lady, debuted from Evernight Publishing in December 2010 and her second, Love Tattoo, came out in March 2011 from the same publisher. She has three other novels due out in 2011 and two confirmed for 2012. She is a member of Romance Writers of America, Paranormal Authors Guild, Missouri Writers Guild, and the Ozark Writers League.

She now lives with her husband, three children, and one feisty Jack Russell terrier in what passes for the suburbs in a small town.

WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM by Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy

When a routine trip to the local discount store erupts in gunfire, Kendra Driscoll finds herself rescued by a stern-faced federal marshall. When he whisks her away in a government van, she must face the fact that her witness protection cover is blown. Now she'll have to deal with being in Marshall Timothy Campbell's custody until further arrangements can be made. Timothy takes her to a safe house tucked away in rural southern Arkansas and she reverts to being Deborah Kincaid.

As she gets to know Tim, Kendra realizes he isn't as stern as he looks. Underneath his gruff exterior she finds a kind, sensitive man and soon, despite the danger from the Bianco family, she also finds herself falling in love. Worse, so does Tim. He falls hard for his witness and that's something that isn't supposed to happen.

But when events turn ugly and Tim suffers a life-threatening rattlesnake bite, it's up to Deborah herself to face her enemies and deal with the danger for the last time.

  2. As one friend of mine said, you can't complain about this kind of surprise! It's great to have both books out and so far, readers are loving them. They've had some early good reviews too....Five stars for "A Time To Love" from Manic Readers, 4 1/2 for "Witness Protection" also from Manic Readers. That's always nice!

Yes, "A Time To Love" is my first time travel romance. I've always been fascinated with the idea of time travel so I wrote one. I've guested a few places at the end of the week about how I came to write this story....one place was on Jean Joachim's blog.

Thanks and if there are more questions from readers and party goes, ask and I'll be popping in and out to answer them!

  6. June, Witness Protection Program is a stand alone title but there should be a second book to follow "A Time To Love" down the road. It continues Samuel and Annie's love story and we'll see a lot more of Samuel's mom (who may just have a romance of her own).

  7. is this the 1st time you have written a book about the witness protection program and how did you research this?

  8. Tammy, it is the first time I wrote about the witness protection program. I started researching it through one of my cousins who works in law enforcement. He pointed me to some resources and I learned a lot of things about the program.
Any of the research I do - including this - always is so much more than what appears in the book but I have to learn about it and know all the facts to present a realistic picture to the reader.

  12. When you are actually talking to the sources that you've found to help with the law enforcement angle are they eager to talk or do you have to work really hard to build their trust?

  13. Congrats on the double release.

I started out reading mostly historical romances, but when I discovered time travel romances, I was hooked. So excited to read your first time travel book.

What is your favorite genre to write?

  14. To answer some of the questions - actually most of the law enforcement people I talked with were wonderful and helpful. It might help that I had a family "in" but they couldn't have been nicer.

A Time To Love is my first time travel book but it was a lot of fun to write so I think there probably will be more down the line.

My favorite genre right now to write within romance would be historical and time travel - which kind of fit together. I have a sweet historical novella out with Astraea Press, "The Marriage Cure" and a historical coming out next June with Rebel Ink, "Guy's Angel" set in the 1920's. It also has a few paranormal elements too and I'm working on a WWII era romance "The Home Front" right.

  15. Boy you sound like you have a lot of things going on. It's truly hard to believe your first book was published less than a year ago!

My goodness, how fast do you write and how long does it take you to finish a book? How many do you have available now and what do you have coming up?

I'm really in awe of what you've done in a year!
