Celebrating A Trilogy Release For Pauline Baird Jones

Three great romantic suspense novels and a bonus short story in one ebook!

A lawman rescues a romance writer, but can she rescue his heart?
Two men need her. One needs her dead. Author Dani Gwynne must plot her own survival, working against time, terror and her fear of heights. Deputy US Marshal Matthew Kirby is the lawman in charge of finding Dani - before she's killed by elusive killer who has never missed his mark...until now. With the clock ticking down on their macabre game of hide and seek, Dani must defeat a killer who won't stop until he gets what he wants. Or he destroys them all trying…

Byte Me
A lawman meets his perfect match. Too bad she’s a high tech thief…

Deputy US Marshal Jake Kirby is a top tracker, who always gets his fugitive. Now he's hot on the trail of a gang of cyberthieves with an unusual agenda. That trail takes him to Colorado and a country and western bar managed by the sexy, mysterious Phoebe Mentel. Instant attraction quickly complicates this high tech chess game between two people who don't know how to lose and are afraid to fall in love.

Missing You
A lonely lawman finds love again. If only she could remember her name…

Denver Homicide detective Luke Kirby is looking for some peace and quiet when he heads up to the family cabin in the mountains. Instead he finds trouble. A beautiful and mysterious woman has taken refuge in his cabin as a storm moves in. She's lost her memory but not the trouble on her trail. While Luke tries to help her figure out who she is, his brothers arrive in town, needing his help with a murder and a missing secret military project. Now the brothers Kirby must join forces when she disappears…

Lonesome Mama
Debra Kirby's boys aren't lonesome anymore, and now the long time widow finds herself pining for a bit of adventure and romance in her life. When Donovan Kincaid offers a plane ride to a friend's wedding, neither of them expect trouble, but that's just what they get. Now the "lonesome mama" is having her own adventure and her own romance - if she can survive.

  11. Many thanks for stopping by Valerie! LOLOL! All three were rather yummy to write and I missed them when I had to move on. (grin) The ideas, the first one came from my first interactions on the internet, actually. I started this book back in...1994 maybe? I thought how interesting it was that we could "know" people, but not know them. And The Fugitive made me fascinated with the US Marshals. I probably would have joined, but I was too old. LOL!

    Sleep well in Germany!

Danielle, many thanks for stopping by. I had a lot of fun writing my lawmen guys, so hope you enjoy them at some point. :-)

  16. @ Sherry - many thanks! I do love lawmen, too. Will I write more? Not sure. Right now I'm writing science fiction romance and steampunk, so the lawmen might be intergalactic. Space is a lot of fun to write, because if I need something, like a weapon, I just make it up. (grin)

@ Jane - Many thanks for the kind words! Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them!

@ Tracey - Coolness! I wrote the first book in 1995! Ack! It was fun to revist them for this re-release and find out they'd worn rather well (IMHO) over the time! I'm excited for them to find new readers. Interesting fact (I hope) The Last Enemy, the first book of the trilogy is my top selling novel. It went on sale for the first time in 1999. I'm so grateful to L&L for bringing it back out again!

  21. Many thanks for joining the party, Marybelle and Estella! I tend to commit random acts of writing, so was quite surprised when I wrote three connected novels. Lately, I have again connected my science fiction romance, but they are also (mostly) stand alone, too.

If you read the books, you will find that they tend toward action/adventure type of romantic suspense, my favorite (rather than too much blood and gore). More like Mary Stewart, I'd say. So it seemed a natural progression to start writing more high adventure stories, such as OUT OF TIME and THE KEY. I think BYTE ME, in particular is very action adventure, though there is a VERY creepy bad guy in there, too. I had a lot of fun with the high tech thief aspects of the story, though.

  24. The books all sound good. How difficult is it to separate your characters so that they are different from one another and not cookie cutters of each other?

    smg5775@yahoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  25. It wasn't that difficult. Each guy came to me as a unique individual. I think it helps that I have brothers, so I know guys aren't all the same. LOL! Good question! Thanks for stopping by!

  26. Congrats on the new release.
I haven't read any of your books before but this one sounds interesting.
Is there any music you listened to to help you get the mood right while you wrote these stories?

    carolcobun(at)yahoo(dot)com

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi, Beth and thanks for stopping by. I did listen to music. I always have a playlist when I write. I listened to a lot of country music during THE LAST ENEMY, and my character went to a country and western bar and learned to push tush, much to the chagrin of the hero.

In BYTE ME, Phoebe is a singer, and again, country western music inspired the story. :-)

My book in progress has steampunk elements, so I'm listening to classic rock, steampunk, and I have "Oh, my Darling Clementine" on the playlist. (Hero's last name is Clementyne.)

Great questions for the party! Many thanks!
