As a teenager, Rebecca Royce would hide in her room to read her favorite romance novels when she was supposed to be doing her homework. She hopes, these days, that her parents think it was well worth it.
Rebecca is the mother of three adorable boys and is fortunate to be married to her best friend. They live in northern New Jersey and try not to freeze too badly during the winter months.
She's in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the pararnormal and tries to use all of these elements in her writing. She's been told she's a little bloodthirsty so she hopes that when you read her work you'll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. Rebecca loves to write series because she loves to see characters develop over time and it always makes her happy to see her favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.
INITIATION - Book One of Rebecca Royce's Warrior Series
My name is Rachel Clancy. Thirty years before I was born, the world ended. Today is my sixteenth birthday. Today I will go Upwards to fight the monsters and, statistically speaking, I won't be coming back - at least not still living.
Initiation is the story of sixteen year old Rachel Clancy, born with a specific set of genes that let her fight monsters, she has trained her entire life to kill Vampires and Werewolves. Knowing since birth what her destiny would be has not made the onslaught of emotions she faces as she journey Upwards any easier. It doesn't help that her father is drunk and her best friend just doesn't get 'it.'
Rachel isn't prepared for the level of deception she faces, and before long she will find herself on a quest she is in no way prepared to handle. What happens next will alter not only Rachel's life but the lives of everyone she knows. She will learn beyond a shadow of a doubt that sometimes the monsters we know are worse than the ones we don't and that love can surprise us when it comes from somewhere we never anticipated it.
If she lives, she will be a Warrior. If she doesn't, no one will ever remember her name.

Best of luck with the book and the series!
Thank you for having me!!
ReplyDeleteThis will be a five book series about Rachel Clancy that takes her from her 16th birthday until she is almost 19. Rachel has lived her whole life in a habitat below ground. Initiation is her first tale of going Upwards and what happens when she does.
Looks fantastic,
ReplyDeleteI just love how you do YA and others, it's genre I just can't tap into :) at least language wise lol.

Darn forgot to leave my question! My question is what made you want to write a YA series?
ReplyDelete(same email as above)
It wasn't so much that I wanted to write YA as I wanted to tell Rachel's story. I've 'known' Rachel a very long in many different genres. I tried to write her as a grown up first in the very first thing I ever wrote. It didn't work and I stopped working on her, found the Westervelt Wovles, etc but she was always there and then one morning I woke up and it was like--a-ha--she is a teenager. And then her story just poured out of me. Years and years of pent up story to tell all at once. LOL. So it was a matter of me figuring out how to tell the story of a character who demanded my attention.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nicole!
This sounds really good, Rebecca. YA is a difficult genre sometimes. Congrats on your release and good luck with the series.

Green Duckie--
ReplyDeleteI really loved the scenes between Rachel and Jason. Also Rachel and Keith.
I had to really think about your question because I'm 2 books ahead in writing and I almost said something that doesn't happen in this book. LOL
