Cheryl lives in the Chicagoland area with her deaf albino cat. By day she crunches & analyzes numbers as an Assistant Controller for a division of a large international conglomerate which leaves the creative juices free for her erotic romance and paranormal suspense novels.

JOINING THE PARTY - Book one in Cheryl Dragon's Lucky Springs Series

In a small town, secrets are hard to keep. But when photojournalist, Cassie Hawks, comes home to Lucky Springs, no one says a word about what her neighbors have been up to while she's been away.

Noises next door draw her to peep on a sex party that enthralls her. The passion, the openness and the multicultural mix inspire and arouse her - the home owners most of all. The sexy Meriwether men tempt her into a private party, and she's hooked. They willingly help her with her photography and keep her coming back for more.

But can she stay put and get on board with their big sex parties?

  4. Congartulations on the first release in your new series. Great excerpt makes me really want to find out what happens when she goes over to thank the neighbors.

In addition to Leagh's comments, why the emphasis on the multiracial interaction? Is it one of the major themes of the series?

  7. Congrats Cheryl! What inspired you to this? Have you ever experienced a sex party? Did you research the topic in books or talking to people about it? I'm just curious. I think it would be fun to experience a sex party. And I'm sure that after reading this book it would have me wanting to experience it even more.

  19. Hi Everyone!

Thanks so much for coming out for my party! I wish I didn't have to work and could chat all day.

Joining the Party is the book I've been waiting and waiting to release. I love this new series!

the blurb and excerpt are all there, thanks to DeNita! But there are plenty of questions...some great ones! So let me get started...

Menage + and some m/m interaction.

Now let me get caught up on the questions...

  20. Okay, let's see...

Do you have to read the series in order? No, not necessarily. Each book is stand alone...but characters develop and cross over books, some secondaries will become a main character later in the series, so you might read book 3 and see the hero find the right group. but in book 1 he's a swinging single....don't hate him for his past;)

    Thanks for the question!
    Cheryl

  21. Are the characters the same thru the series are is there a new set in every book?

There is a new group of menage main characters. Sometimes you've met them one or two in an earlier book as a secondary character, but each story will be about that group of people finding their true love situation.

  22. How many books will be in the series??

4 are currently contracted. Feb/ Apr/Aug/Dec. Plenty of parties:)

If the series goes well...I have 4 more planned out to keep the fun goiong for Lucky Springs.

So be sure to let me know if you like it!!

  23. Multicultural theme?

This really all started with Cassie. She is a photojournalist and has seen the ugly side of life with Katrina the oil spill in Louisiana. She peeps on the party and sees something that inspires her, love and passion that has no boundaries. it's arousing and something she has taken for granted.

race isn't an issue in the story, it's not a problem. it's an added bit of fun when (YES to answer the other question) she does take pictures. She wants an uplifting photo project to try her hand freelancing from Lucky Springs. Her men are very happy to help!

the multicultural theme will continue in most of the books. again, it's not a problem...it's part of life. Louisiana has cajuns, creoles, black, white, hispanic, and native americans that can trace ancestory back hundreds of years. So it's history gives a unique background and I love how it turned out in Joining the Party.

    Hope you do too:)

  24. Where do the ideas come from and how do i keep all the MEN:) straight.

well not all the men are straight, some are bisexual...as you can see on the cover...

lol...I know I know. When I first started menages I wasn't sure I could juggle two men, that was no problem so I've branched out. 4 is the most I've gifted one of my heroines thus far. But all the men are unique. they have distinct personalitie and interact differently with her and the group. Even if they don't get a POV or rarely get one, they still are part of it and need to feel fully invested.

As far as coming up with the ideas, I wish I knew. It usually starts with one character who I really want to find true love. Cassie came to me, the oil spill really inspired her. all those reporters covering it. seeing oil covered birds. then i thought about Katrina. what these people must've seen. I'd want some happy pictures and a break! So I took Cassie home and gave her some hot neighbors that she knows but hasn't gotten that close with...yet!

Menage isn't for every herione. It's harder for some to process. Cassie does pretty well.

M/M is something I like to dabble in when the right male character shows up. In March, Backing Brian comes out. I'm taking a fashionista who has lived in NY and a a bodyguard who ran to LA, and putting them back in their homestate of Texas stuck together. With rope. it's hot. it just works. The characters make the story...I want them to be happy!

  25. Do I create characters after someone I know?

No, I really don't. My characters are real in my head. I could have a conversation with them.

Now I might give them a quirk or habit that I see in real life and I think is a unique or fits the characters issues.

And to answer that other question, I've never personally been in a sex party. But I've interviewed people who have, house based partie and so on. I don't know if I could do it as a single person but in a small town where you don't have easy access to big city variety/options...I can see this happening more often than people think.

That's what I like about this series. It's menage+, but I think it actually could happen and it might shock some people in town but a lot more people would want to get on that invite email!

  26. Desiree Holt?! How sweet of you to stop your bestseller to pop in on my party :)

thanks so much! I hope people like it!!

  27. Favorite scene? I'd say the last scene...which is one of the parties! Cassie is used to being behind the camera, not being watched by others so it's a big emotional hurdle for her.

    thanks!

  29. This sounds like such a fun and sexy story and I especially like the multicultural aspect of it. As you're writing, do you keep anything around you or watch/listen to anything for inspiration?

  32. I actually use TV for background noise. With music I get distracted...but reruns on TV are soothing background noise...

    it works for me:)

  33. The most difficult part of writing menage?

I don't think it's hard. If it was hard for me, I probably would go with a genre that felt more natural. To me, this is the most fun subgenre.

The only challenge is making it feel natural. Like it could happen when this isn't the most mainstream lifestyle for people. But it's fun to figure out how it works...

  35. Congratulations on your new series. What's the hardest part of a book for you to write?

    sstrode@scrtc.com

  36. The hardest part about writing a book? it depends on that book. sometimes its the opening line or where to end it.

with menage, it's generally that talk about the group thing. since most women aren't routinely in these types of relationships and the men are hot enough to have women of their own...the heroine needs to have a comfort level. sometimes its a quick review of the rule and onto the fun...love will develop from the open experimentation....

but if the heroine knows the heroes well for a long time, like the sitation in book 2 of Lucky Springs, that requires a deeper conversation.

luckily the characters are all so different, it doesn't feel repetitive. their issues and feelings are unique even if they end up in a group relationship...

    thanks!
