Celebrating the Release of Marie Treanor's DRAGUL RISING

Today we're celebrating the new Changeling Press release of DRAGUL RISING a collection of futuristic erotic fantasy by Marie Treanor.

Marie was born and bred in Scotland, but for some years moved around the UK working and studying. Now she's back home and happily married with three young children.
Having grown bored with city life, her family lives in a picturesque village by the sea where, instead of working for a living, Marie is lucky enough to be able to enjoy herself writing stories of romance and fantasy.

She draws the inspiration for her books mainly from the people around her and from Scotland's rich history.

The Dragul are as old as the Earth. Once, they retreated before the ignorant onslaught of men. Now they're back.

As the world recovers from nuclear holocaust, two cities vie for the right to colonize the empty Highlands. Beth, a restless scientist from the City of the Damned, is sent to test the environment. When she encounters the living embodiment of her erotic dreams -- a golden winged man -- her whole life is thrown into confusion.

As the secret of the Dragul emerges, the half-human vampire Michael takes time out of his mission to their kingdom to rescue Danna, the beautiful shapeshifting Dragon Dancer. Attraction between them is so powerful that Danna begins to believe he is her One -- which would be an unthinkable tragedy when he is already bound to another woman.

Eve, beautiful, clever, visionary, leads a delegation from the human Dome City. She is used to succeeding, but she has never before encountered an opponent like the King of the Dragul. Dark, brooding and overwhelmingly powerful, King Vasil walks a lonely path, dedicated to serving and caring for his people. He is happy to battle Eve with wits, sex and ultimately love, for a prize that turns out to be larger than anyone had previously imagined.

Nothing will ever be the same.

This collection by Marie Treanor contains the previously released novellas Dragul Dawn, Dragul in Daylight, and Dragul in Darkness.

  1. Super congrats on the release of your Dragul Collection! That's great that Changeling Press has put your three books together in this special collection and what a great price!

Tell us a little bit about this collection, it sounds like you cover a lot of different sub-genres in these books. Where did the idea for the books come from and will there be more books in this series?

Btw, I stopped by your website this morning and LOVE LOVE LOVE the cover for your upcoming book BLOOD ON SILK!!! OMG - wow! Nice to see your name all big and on the top!

    Enjoy your party!

  3. Thank you, DeNita! I'm delighted to see these three novellas out as a collection, with a fresh lease of life :)

And yes, I suppose it does cover quite a range of genres! Futuristic fantasy romance involving shifters and vampires and human mutants :).

It actually follows on from the "City of the Damned" series, which took place in the aftermath of nuclear war as survivors began to rebuild. "Dragul Rising" follows the children of the main "City of the Damned" characters, and their relationships with the Dragul - who've been avoiding humanity by living undergound for centuries but have now emerged to take up residence in the empty Highlands.

It was great fun to write actually, because I could let my imagination run riot as well as mix up bits and pieces of Celtic culture like oral storytelling and law keeping.

And of course, the Dragul are extremely sexy and indulge in ritual orgies, providing lots of romantic opportunities - and of course, who could resist flying sex? :)

There is already a sequel sries to "Dragul Rising" - "Rogue Warriors", a trilogy also available at Changeling, featuring the next generation of Dragul. At the moment, I don't have plans to write any more, but I do love the Dragul, so I won't rule it out in the future!

Oh and I'm so glad you like the cover for "Blood on Silk"! I must admit I love it too :). And I'm really looking forward to its North American release in September.
