WHITE ROSES by Michelle Levigne

A Tabor Heights, Ohio Novel

Twenty years ago, Toni's sister, Angel, was killed by her secret boyfriend. Now, the White Rose Killer is stalking and killing young women, searching for his true love. Toni is sure this is the same boy who killed Angel, grown to be a dangerous man.

Curt, assistant editor at the Tabor Picayune, has the same theory. They team up in a race against time to dig through the past to identify Angel's killer, before he chooses, terrorizes, and kills another victim.

To protect Toni from being chosen as the White Rose's next 'true love,' Curt and Toni pretend to be involved. Reluctant partnership turns to friendship and then to something more, but will it last beyond the unmasking of the killer?

  1. Michelle - super congrats on your TENTH Tabor Heights, Ohio book!! Wow - when you started out with this series, did you have any idea how many books you'd have? How many more are you planning?

What a wonderful idea for a series, the entire town is open game - lol - but is it a nightmare to keep everything straight?

What else have you been working on?

Have a wonderful day today at your cyber launch party and I hope WHITE ROSES is your biggest seller yet!

  2. Good morning, everybody!

Welcome to a milestone of sorts -- the 10th book taking place in Tabor Heights.

I didn't plan on this many storiesw when I started out -- but as I explore the town, I keep meeting all sorts of new people who have their own lives and stories that want to be told.

White Roses is part of Year One. There are 2 more books to finish out the year -- The Mission will be released in
March next year, and then Accidental Hearts will come out in October. Then Year Two starts with Invitation to a Wedding. There will be 20 total books -- 12 for Year One and 8 contracted for Year Two.

Future titles include The Teddy Bear Dancer, Wheels, A Box of Promises, and Truck Stop Angel.

  3. Right now I'm starting to rough draft Invitation to a Wedding. The goal is to have all 8 books of Year Two at least roughed so I know all the events and the people involved during that year, before I start polishing the first book for publication.

    Will I succeed?

    Stay tuned and find out!!!

  4. Hello Michelle,

That is quite a series to bite off, but what a great idea. I checked out your website and see you have lots of different genres within this one series and I think that's really fun.

What's your favorite book in the series so far and if someone was new to the series, which book would your recommend starting with?

  5. Hi, Sharon --

    welcome!
Dont forget to leave your email address, to be entered in the drawing.

Asking me which book in the series is my favorite is like asking a mother of a BIG family which child is her favorite. Sure to cause trouble!

I would recommend either Detours or The Second Time Around because they cover a lot of time, so you get mentions of other activities, events, and crises in the town and bits and pieces of other people's stories that happen during the course of the main characters' stories.

Detour was written first, and didn't really have any romance in there, but Shane kind of crept into the story and waved his Stetson around and said, "Hey, what about me and Bekka?" And then there was the sub-story of Kat's parents -- which ended up becoming The Second Time Around.

Detours is the story of 3 college girls who share an apartment for a year -- Bekka, Kat and Amy.

During the course of the year in their apartment, you see things like the reaction to the White Rose Killer -- and that's the central story in White Roses, today's launch book.

The germinal idea for White Roses came from a real event, when I was working for the weekly newspaper in Berea -- which is the physical mold for Tabor Heights. A teenage girl's body was found in the park. She had been strangled. It turned out her boyfriend had strangled her and his aunt helped him hide the body in the park. I kind of tucked the story away in my mind and thought, "What if he hadn't been caught, and then 20 years later started killing again, looking for his lost love?" And that's how we got the White Rose Killer -- and the 2 books that are impacted by the search -- Common Grounds, and White Roses.

  6. Question for those of you who have been here before, and who have read some of the Tabor Height stories:

    What's YOUR favorite story?
    Why?

Have you met anyone in the stories that you want to have their own starring role in a book someday? Ask -- I might already have a story planned for them.

For instance, Hannah (from Common Grounds) has a roommate, Rene. The Teddy Bear Dancer is Rene's story, where you learn about that dark place in her past that is hinted at in Common Grounds.

You've met Tommy Donnelly, the crazy guy in the wheelchair, who works with his sister Claire, at the Mission? Tommy will have his own story in Year 2 -- Wheels. Claire gets to fall in love in the last book I just turned in -- The Mission.

So, anyone you think deserves a story? Now's your chance to speak and be heard -- and maybe give me ideas for ... who knows? Year 3 !!!!!!!

  7. Congratulations!!! WHITE ROSES looks wonderful. I love the premise. Why the White Rose Killer? Or is that too much to give away?

  8. He's called the White Rose Killer because he leaves white roses for his "true love" -- and mangled white roses in the hands of each girl he kills.

    That simple.

  9. Hi you are new to me. Which one of your books would you reccomend for me to start with? Congrats on your new release. Great book cover.

  10. I'd recommend getting an "introduction" to the series by either reading "Detours" or "The Second Time Around," -- which, by the way, will be the first paper print Tabor Heights novel! -- just because these two books cover more than a year of action, and make reference to other Tabor Heights events and people and places.

Or, you could try the two free read short stories that Desert Breeze Publishing offers -- "Silver Hearts" and "Homespun" -- or the anthology of 4 short stories, "Seasons: A Tabor Heights Anthology."

    And just go from there.
