  2. I have been seeing a lot of musical heroes or heroines lately. What made you decide on a rock star heroine? And what research did you do for it?

I haven't heard of this series or read anything from you before and I look forward to learning about you and the series.

    PS - I love RS!

  3. Your new book sounds very interesting.

My question for you is why do you write under two different names? Do you find it hard to switch idenities? And what are you working on for Laverne?

Good luck with the new book. I'm going over to read the excerpt now.

  4. I started the series about 3 men who are friends and own and run a commercial security firm. They'd been in the military together and though to put some of their training to good use. All three are protectors at heart. So the series is about them finding their perfect woman. And the lengths they go to to protect her from harm.

The first book in the series is White Wedding and the story of the lead owner Ross and Shanna. The book starts on what should have been her wedding day. The second book is Something Blue and starts on the day of Ross and Shanna's wedding rehearsal and is about Noah and River, a childhood friend and rockstar. The last book, coming soon, Wine and Roses is Simon and Eboni, Shanna's sister and starts the night of the wedding.

  5. Hi Katie,

I've always wanted to write about a female rock star. So many books have been written about male rock stars I wanted a woman to have a turn. As far as research, believe it or not Rolling Stones Magazine and also just searched the internet. But most of the story is from my own imagination. It's not so much about the nature of her business as it is a love story with a suspense element. The fact rock stars are such public figures tied in perfectly with the stalker element in the story.

  6. Hi Sharon,

Great question. And the short answer is no. I'm slowly moving all my contemporary work to Ursula now that doesn't mean LaVerne might not crank one one or two. But most of my fantasy and paranormal work I will continue under LaVerne.

Right now LaVerne is working on 2 fantasy works.

  8. Hello Ursula!
I read the excerpt of Something Blue and boy was that creepy. If that is her stalker's POV then I'm sure the suspense will be fantastic. Of course it might be a misleading excerpt and it could be Noah instead of the stalker. I think Something Blue sounds great!

  18. Estella,

Something Blue is a contemporary romantic suspense. But I also write sci/fi under LaVerne Thompson. I've always enjoyed making up new worlds. And sci/fi worlds are the ultimate. My imagination can really take off.

  19. Congrats! I especially like the part near the end where...oops! Anyway, I loved it all.

  20. Congrats, Ursula! I love the blurb and excerpt for Something Blue. It sounds so exciting!

  21. Love the excerpt and can't wait to find out what happens. I know how difficult it can be to get the first chapter written and find myself needing a push to move on. Is it easier with a series when you have already worked with some of the characters?

  22. Something Blue sounds good. How do you decide when to end a series? When you start a series do you have in mind a certain number of books or do you let the characters decide?

  23. Hi Karin,

Usually starting is easy for me. And yeah I think in a way a series is easier to write because you don't have to search for some of the characters, they're already there and even the ones you're writing about you already know a little about who they are.

  24. Thanks JM.

She-When I start a series yes I have in mind the number of books. I try not to go beyond 3. But sometimes I start a story that's supposed to be a stand alone and as I write it realize I have a series. Those can be trickier. hahaha
