Desiree has lived a life of excitement that brings the color to her writing. She was a summer fishing guide, a summer field hand where she was one of only three women working, a member of a beginning ski team that skied in competition (and no, no broken bones!). She spent several years in the music business representing every kind of artist from country singer to heavy metal rock bands. For several years she also ran her own public relations agency handling any client that interested her.
She is twice a finalist for an EPIC E-Book Award, a nominee for a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award, winner of the first 5 Heart Sweetheart of the Year Award at The Romance Studio, and is published by four different houses. Romance Junkies said of her work: "Desiree Holt is the most amazing erotica author of our time and each story is more fulfilling then the last."

PRETTY KITTY by Desiree Holt
Aisha McClellan has more trouble than she knows what to do with. A born cat-shifter, part human, part leopard, at the age of eighteen when she was just coming into her first heat, a rogue member of the pack attacked her and traumatised her, leaving her unable to shift.
Cast out by her pack, she makes a half-life for herself on the outskirts of both human and shifter societies, moving from city to city, seeking some kind of attachment. She's been in San Antonio for about six months now and has taken to hanging out at The Litter Box, a bar where cat shifters go to relax.
Several times she's allowed herself to go home with someone she's met there, but it's always a disaster, and after that she's careful to avoid them. Her best friend is the bartender, Max Rogan. One night when she's drinking too much he coaxes her story out of her. He is appalled at how she's had to live and what's happened to her.

Do you find it easy to write about shape shifters?
ReplyDeleteelizabeth_14@hotmail.co.uk
Happy Release Day Desiree!!!! And super congrats on a new shape shifter romance.
ReplyDeleteTell us about this world and if this book is connected to any of your other shapeshifter worlds.
Will we see Max and Aisha?
Hope the book is a huge seller for you and the count down is on - how many more releases before your 100th???
Congrats on the new release! What do you find the hardest about writing?
ReplyDeletegreenduckie13 at gmail dot com
Hey everyone!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth:
I actually find it easy to write about shifters. Once I started reading about them I became so fascinated that I bought everything I could get my hands on. I'm just really caught up in the idea of humans shifting into wolves or cats and vice versa. And exploring the possibilities of what they can do in either form. C heck out some of my other paranormals.
Hey greenduckie 13
ReplyDeleteThe hardest thing about writing is making sure I keep it fresh for my readers and not forcing scenes so they sound contrived. But my brain never ever stops working so if I think I'm bogged down with something I just move to another story and then come back to the first one. Otherwise it is both my pleasure and my passion.
Hey DeNita,
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this party for me today. This is my last release until Downstroke on April 8, Number 100. I am sooo psyched about it. Hope everyone jumps on the Ellora's Cave web site that day and buys a copy.
Sounds like a great book! What are you working on now? Do you alternate paranormal stories with contemporary so you don't get bored with what you're writing?

Whoa!! So this is release #99, Desiree?! Woohoo! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI'm just amazed at your stories--you seem to have an bottomless wellspring of creativity and I love your joy to share your stories with us eager readers!
I like the sounds of Aisha and Max's story! Is it a stand-alone?
Happy 99, Desiree!!

This sounds like an awesome story, Des! If I don't win it, I'm going to buy it. (Oh, damn. Now I definitely won't win.) LOL
ReplyDeleteAsh
It sounds like Aisha has had a tragic life until now. Hopefully Max can coax her out of her shell and help her get over the trauma of her past. It sounds like an intense book. I think I would really enjoy it. Congratulations on another new release!

Never mind...take my name out of the contest. After all the books you've bought of mine, Des, I had to buy it, so I did! And, aw heck, while I was there I bought your Carnal Caress in audio too. (grin)
ReplyDeleteAsh
Hey Desiree, congratulations on your new release!
ReplyDeleteTory
Desiree, how long did it take you to get to 100 books? Love your books.
ReplyDeleteMargie
The Litter Box???
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO! Des, you are the cat's meow!
Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteYes I try to alternate but not to keep from getting bored. I can honestly say I'm never bored with ym writing. But I try to keep my ideas fresh so switching back and forth helps. Right now I'm working on a cowboy menage and a paranormal.
Hi Fedora,
ReplyDeleteMax and Aisha's story was originally written to be a stand alone but I have so many ideas bubbling in the back of my mind that I think I'll probably write more built around the club where Max works. And you, this is #99. And thank you so much for the compliment.
Hi Stacie,
ReplyDeleteI do hope you enjoy it. I loved writing about how their relationship developed. Max and Aisha are two of my favorite characters.
Oh, wow, Ash! Thanks so much! Be sure to drink a lot of ice water while listening to Carnal Caresses! **grin**
ReplyDeleteHi Margie,
ReplyDeleteI began writing in 2004, made my first sale in 2005 (18 months later) and my first book came out June 2006. So pretty fast. I've been very, very fortunate.
Hey Desiree,
ReplyDeleteI really don't have a question but I wanted to say Congrats on another release!!! This one looks just as good as the others.

Sounds like another winner and another book for my must have list!

Happy Release Day Desiree
ReplyDeleteIt sounds really good.
flchen1 mentioned this is #99 What is #100 called and about?
elaing8(at)netscape(dot)net
Charley and Dallas begin a roller coaster ride that is emotional and suspenseful. - Is their love strong enough after twenty years to pull them back together? It will be released by Ellora's Cave on April 8. The trailer is up on YouTube if you want to take a peek.
ReplyDeleteWolves will always be my favorite. Will you have others shifters besides Cats & wolves?
ReplyDeleteHi Leigh and Tracie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments! And thanks for being fans.
CJ, I basically stick to cats and wolves because (1) I have three cats and I love them and I'm also fascinated with the sleekness of panthers and pumas and (2) wolves are what got me into paranormal to begin with and I have personal acquaintance with one. LOL!
ReplyDeleteElaine,
ReplyDeleteI think part of my post got cut off when I pasted the blurb in. #100 is called Downstroke and will be released April 8 by Ellora's Cave.
Hi, Annalisa,
ReplyDeleteUp until now of all the books I've written I;d have to say my favorite is a tossup between Where Danger BHides and Rodeo Heat. But Downstroke, my #100, releasing April 8, is definitely at the top of the list.

Hi Larena,
ReplyDeleteWhen I wrote this story I hadn't actually intended it to be part of a series but as I finished it more ideas came to me built around the club, The Litter Box. So yes, as soon as I can get to it, another cat shifter story will be hitting the virtual book shelves.
I love the big cat shifters!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the start of another great series.

Congrats Desiree! Sounds like a great story. Are you writing about other shifters? How do you do the research for this?
ReplyDeletedebby236 at att dot net
Congrats on your release! I love shifters! Will this be a series or just a standalone.
ReplyDeletebeckerjo(at)verizon(dot)net
I know you write in many genres. Which is your favorite? Which will you not write again?
ReplyDeletesmg5775@yahoo.com
Congrats on your release! I just ordered it. I've enjoyed several of your books and you are on my list of authors I look for. Keep them coming and I will keep on reading.
ReplyDeleteHi nNdma!. You;'\'ve made my day.
ReplyDeleteHi She!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a tossup between BFSM and paranormal. Hmm. Maybe I need to find a way to combine them. Which one will I never write in again? Probably fantasy. It's a wonderful genre but I just can't get my head into it.
Hi Debbie and Joanna,
ReplyDeleteI love my cat shifters, too. I do a lot of research on the INternet and haunt the library for books about shifter legends. Even though it's really imagination I try to be as realistic as possible. ANd while Pretty Kitty was originally written as a stand alone, I already have ideas for more stories about The Litter Box. Stay tuned!
Congrats on the new release:) and the ones to follow:) I enjoy your writing but I haven't read one of your paranormal. Guess I need to give it a try. What is your favorite time period to write about?
