Celebrating Sam Cheever's New Fantasy Romance FALLEN ANGEL

Today we're celebrating the release of FALLEN ANGEL, Sam Cheever's contribution to Aspen Mountain Press' erotic fantasy series, Del Fantasma.

Sam writes fast paced fantasy and romantic fiction with feisty characters who deal with life's little challenges in unique and often hilarious ways. As a reader Sam is very impatient. She quickly loses interest if a story doesn't have a good pace and snappy dialogue. Sam's inability to focus in a backwash of human angst and subtleties works out well for her readers, since she writes the way she likes to read.

In her real life, Sam lives on a hobby farm in Indiana with 10 dogs, 4 horses, 2 barn cats, 2 daughters, and one husband. Not necessarily in that order.

FALLEN ANGEL by Sam Cheever

Sick of heroes and on the run from angry gods, Bellona Fara, a Valkyrie, visits a bar called Del Fantasma looking for a bad boy to love. The bar's owner, Cody, introduces her to fallen angel, Gabe, who's trying to atone for a single mistake that haunts his days and nights with regret. When an earthquake shakes the very foundations of life in Vista Loma, California, their growing feelings for each other will be sorely tested, as they try to fight their basic natures while dealing with things well beyond their control.

  1. Hey Sam - super congrats on the new release!!! Just read the excerpt and loved it - you come up with some of the greatest characters! Ones you instantly like and root for.

Will we see these guys again - seems to be a lot of stories here.

I'm not familiar with this series, is it going to be a multi-author series written with the bar as the common ground?

Hope the new book is a huge seller for you and hope to see Gabe and Bellona again!

  2. Hey Lady!

I'm really excited about this story, it was a lot of fun to write and I ended up absolutely smitten with the characters!

The Del Fantasma series is AMP's very popular erotic paranormal series, based on the Del Fantasma bar run by Cody the vampire. Many different authors have contributed to the series. The common thread is that the main characters have to be introduced by Cody at the bar. Where you go with the story from there is wide open. Making each book in the series a fun and sexy surprise for readers!

As far as doing more stories on Gabe and Bellona, I'm not sure. The stories are all pretty much stand alone, but there's no reason I couldn't use a different character from this story and write another Del. It's definitely something to think about.

Thanks for throwing me a cyber launch party! I look forward to visiting with everybody!

  7. Here's another little taste:

Gabe emerged from the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his hips and his hair dripping wetly down his back. He dropped a second towel over his head and scrubbed at the sodden strands until they stuck up in semi-dried spikes all over his head.

A sudden awareness made him lower the towel and peer into the silent darkness. A figure stood perfectly still in the shadows beside the door. At first he thought it was Cody. But the shadows couldn’t hide the soft curves and graceful stance of the creature. Nor the thick fall of bright hair that flared out from the top of her hips.

    “Bellona?”

She stepped forward, inclining her head. She wore a gentle smile on her face and appeared calm, expectant. She was dressed entirely in black, skin-skimming leather. The jeweled hilt of a sword rose over one shoulder. Her feet were encased in knee high, leather boots with metal reinforcements over the shins. Ornate, stamped metal was strapped around her thighs and buckled across her chest. Her forearms were encased in matching metal guards.
She held a small shield in one hand.

She looked like a warrior, ready for battle.

Gabe was in awe. She was an incredible sight. A loin-stirring concoction that made his mouth water. Words tumbled through his mind but none would drop down into his mouth to be forced into a coherent sentence.

Finally he opened his mouth and said the first thing that would emerge. “You might be slightly overdressed. I’m unarmed and way too tired to be dangerous.” He finished the statement with a smile.

Bellona shook her head and lifted her hands. “I come before you as the gods have made me. I am a warrior, sent upon a mission from the gods. I do not choose my mission. I dare not question it.”

Gabe frowned. “So that’s how you justify murder to yourself?”

She cocked her head, her expression calm. “Is that how you see me in your mind. As a murderer of humans.”

Gabe frowned. No. That wasn’t how he saw her at all. “It doesn’t matter how I see you. It only matters what you’ve done.”

She inclined her head. “Yes. You are right. So tell me, fallen angel, Gabe. What is it that you have done? What brings you such self-loathing and remorse?”

He turned away and reached for his jeans. Dropping his towel he stepped into them quickly, feeling the heat of her gaze on his backside. “That’s none of your business.”

“Ah, but it is. You see, you sit in judgment of me, without knowing any of the facts. I prefer to hold my judgment of you until I’ve heard all the facts.”

Gabe zipped his jeans and turned to her. “Angels only meet my fate for one of two reasons.”

She cocked her head. Was she closer? Had she moved? “What are those reasons?”

“The first one is rebellion against the angelic choir…”

“And the second?” Yes, she was definitely closer now. Her beautiful gaze was intense, searching, locked onto his face.

Gabe sighed and walked to the room’s only window to stare out into the night. “Causing the death of an innocent.”

The soft warmth of her breath touched the back of his neck. Gabe stiffened but didn’t turn.

When she spoke again, her sweet breath tickled his ear. “You caused the death of an innocent, Gabe? Just as you assume I have?”

Shame filled him. Self-loathing burned in his gut. He closed his eyes as velvet tipped fingers touched his waist, slipping lightly, reverently, up his sides. “Yes.”

“Then we are devils of the same type, are we not?”

  10. Hey Anne and Jean,

I agree, I like to read about strong women and enjoy writing about them too! I'm alarmed by the recent criticisms of this type of character from some, where they call them men with boobs. Have you heard those comments? And, if so, did you agree?
