THE WOODLOCK by Steve Shilstone

The Bekka Chronicles: Book Four

In the 4th story of The Bekka Chronicles, a time-traveling shapeshiftress sends Bekka of Thorns 1000 years into the past to perform a task.

What task? The frustrated Bekka is unsure and blames the shapeshiftress for failing to give her enough instruction. Adventuring for the first time without her best friend Kar, Bekka is left to stumble all alone in the Woods Beyond the Wood. She is forced to rely solely on her thorough knowledge of historical lore to determine the unknown task she believes must be performed to keep the future as she knows it and likes it.  She encounters and recognizes from ancient tales a shy woodlock and twin water wizards. Seeing no other option, Bekka assumes her task is somehow tied to the trio, and she proceeds to take action on that assumption.

Is she right? She’ll never know until she returns to her own time and finds it changed...or not.

THE FLIGHT OF THE SORCERESS by Barry S. Willdorf

As the Roman Empire crumbles, the Catholic Church fills the power vacuum by launching attacks on classical culture. Books are burned. Women are restricted from traditional occupations. The lives of pagans and Jews are imperiled. The Dark Ages loom.

But two women, Glenys, a Celtic herbalist and healer, and Hypatia, teacher, philosopher, mathematician and the last librarian of the great library at Alexandria, resist. Though one is branded a sorceress and the other an idolator, they refuse to submit to the demands of the state-sanctioned religious leaders. Their struggle culminates in the cataclysmic events of Lenten week in 415 A.D.

Can anything be preserved?

Celebrating Jean Hart Stewart's New Historical Adventure

Today we're celebrating the release of Jean Hart Stewart's new historical adventure, THE THIRD ROSE!

Jean feels she’s very much a Californian although she was born in Ohio. California has been home for a good many years. Life changed drastically for her when she was six and her father died incredibly from an errant golf ball. A dishonest insurance agent forced her sheltered mother to seek work, and she became a teacher. Her hours required Jean to be alone in the house in the afternoon, and since she was forbidden to leave till her mother got home, she became an avid reader. The local library supplied most of the books and she developed early her two of main interests, Jane Austen and King Arthur.

Reading is still one of her favorite activities, although she sometimes has to push it aside to make room for her enduring love of writing. Her journalism degree was used infrequently until recently. Marriage and raising two children pleasantly got in the way. After twenty years of being a real estate broker and with the kids raised she finally could devote her time to writing, her first love.

Jean's enchantment with the lore and legends of Druids and, therefore, delving into their history led to fascinating research that inspired her popular Garland of Druids Series for Cerridwen Press. She's now enjoying writing stories filled with magic and romance for her Songs of the Mages Series, also for Cerridwen Press.

Few things in her life have been so satisfying, especially when all her books have a happy ending. Wonderful to make happen. It only gets more interesting when a secondary character demands his very own book. Who would want to deny him? Not Jean!
