Celebrating Desiree Holt's New Hard Rocking Romance

All day today at our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating the release day for Desiree Holt's hard rocking, intense new romance AFTERSHOCK - the sequel to her bestselling JOY RIDE.

AFTERSHOCK by Desiree Holt

Determined to shake off her past, Sydney Alexander plans to seize the day when it comes to handling PR for Lightin’ the blazing star rising on the rock scene. Rick Trajean, Lightnin’s lead, torches her all business all the time mantra when the sizzling chemistry between them ignites brighter more than the band’s popularity.

As Lightnin’ scorches the charts, Rick and Sydney burn up the sheets. But can their passion handle the pressure of the music business? Not everyone is happy with Lightnin’s success and when the vindictiveness so common in the business threatens to destroy the band, their tour and the love Rick and Sydney found in each other, their powerhouse may come crashing down. What’s left when it does?

Desiree Holt has lived a life of excitement that brings the color to her writing. She was a summer fishing guide, a summer field hand where she was one of only three women working, a member of a beginning ski team that skied in competition (and no, no broken bones!). She spent several years in the music business representing every kind of artist from country singers to heavy metal rock bands. For several years she also ran her own public relations agency handling any client that interested her.

She is twice a finalist for an EPIC E-Book Award, a nominee for a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award, winner of the first 5 Heart Sweetheart of the Year Award at The Romance Studio, and is published by four different houses. Romance Junkies said of her work: "Desiree Holt is the most amazing erotica author of our time and each story is more fulfilling then the last."

  3. Little did I know when Decadent Publishing invited me to a private party at Johnny Depp;s Viper Room 3 hears ago that I'd meet a very sexy bass player who inspired my writer's mind. Jackie Joyride (and yes, the name of that first book is a play on his name) is not only hot and a fantastic musician but an incredible individual shared his life with me and inspired these books. In JOY RIDE we met Marc and Emma (Guitar Man and Music Lady) and lived the JOY RIDE of their story. Here's a little about them if you haven't read the book:
Emma, the good girl poster child, is running from a life she suddenly sees as gray and suffocating—a life where she’s successfully buried all her hopes and secret dreams. Until the night she wanders into Aftershock and is immediately drawn to the hot bass player. The electricity of his performance, the powerful music he coaxes from his guitar, the heavy vibration of each note reaches out to something deep inside her and wakes an Emma she didn’t even know existed.

Marc doesn’t much care for the groupies who hang around the band. He needs a woman he can create a future with that’s a counterpoint to the craziness of the rock music business. When he sees Emma for the first time, something inside him cracks wide open. Just one sizzling glance between them, and he’s sure he’s found the woman to complete his life.

But as the relationship grows, there’s a huge stumbling block: Emma won’t tell him her name. The sex is fabulous but he wants more….

Although Emma is finally finding her true self, her fear of everything falling apart builds a barrier she can’t seem to cross. Marc is taking her on the joy ride of her life, but will her own insecurities destroy everything?

  4. What? That's not enough? Okay, here's a snippet from the book:
Emma didn’t remember falling asleep and when she opened her eyes at first she couldn’t figure out where she was. She was startled to realize a warm body was curled around her, a muscular arm thrown across her hip. For a moment she was tempted to scream but then it all came back to her with startling clarity.
    Andrew!
    Running from his house.
    The club, Aftershock.
And the bass player whose eyes seemed to see into her very soul.
And the magic of their erotic coupling.
    Ohmigod!
She shifted slightly and realized her body was sore in places she didn’t even know she could feel.
    What time is it?
She lifted the wrist with the watch on it but the room was dark so it was impossible to see. Turning her head slightly her eye caught a bedside clock. Red numerals told her it was just after five.
I have to get out of here. Ohmigod. I have to get home.
She wasn’t brave enough to face her joy ride in the light of day. At least not at that moment.
Sliding carefully from the bed she got down on her knees and felt around on the floor for her clothes, silently pulling them on. Picking up her sandals she tiptoes out of the room toward the front of her house, remembering she’d dropped her purse in the living room.
She had just unlocked the front door with a soft click! When she heard him behind her.
“Music Lady?” His voice was hoarse with the remnants of sleep.
She turned and nearly swallowed her tongue. He was standing not two feet away from her gloriously naked his cock semi-erect, his hair in that sexy tangle. He pushed it back from his face and squinted at her.
    “Where are you going?”
“I-I have to leave,” she stammered.
In seconds he was beside her, his hands on her shoulders.
“Don’t go. Please. We didn’t even get a chance to talk.”
“Talk?” she squeaked. All she could remember was the intense physical and emotional connection. There hadn’t been any room for words.
“Please,” he repeated. “I want to get to know you.”
“I-I-I…” She shook her head. “I have to go. I’m sorry.”
His hands slid up to cup her cheeks. “I want to see you again.”
“I don’t know.” She chewed her bottom lip. She wanted to stay but the intensity of her feelings frightened her. How could you feel this way about someone so quickly? Someone so completely opposite everything else in her life?
“Then will you at least come to the club? Next week? We play Tuesday through Saturday.”
    “Maybe. I…Maybe.”
“here’s something to remember while you’re trying to decide.”
He lowered his mouth to hers, rubbing his lips against her very softly before pressing his tongue against the seam. She opened for him without another thought and welcomed his tongue into the hot well of her mouth. Her own small tongue slipped and danced with his while her body trembled and the throbbing in her cunt reminded her of how he made her feel.
His thumbs caressed her cheekbones while he fed from her, the kiss invading her senses. Gasping she broke away.
    “I-I have to go. Now.”
Yanking open the door she raced down the three steps to her car, pressing the fob to unlock it and leaping into it as if she was in a footrace with the devil. She backed quickly out into the street, but then she glanced toward the house and saw him standing in the doorway, unabashedly naked, haloed by the street lamp.
    Ohmigod.
He lifted his hand to wave and she pulled quickly away, her body sending her messages but her mind scattered to the winds.

    1. Hi Mary, I actually had a lot of input. I get a cover request sheet from my publisher and am able to give them a lot of info about the feel of the story. I think they did a phenomenal job with this.
