Celebrating Gilbert M. Stack's Latest Release

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating a new release for author Gilbert M. Stack in Red Rose Publishing's Reality with a Twist Series.

PANIC BUTTON: LIGHTHOUSE ISLAND by Gilbert  M.Stack
When Angie Specter won a slot on the Reality TV show, Panic Button: Lighthouse Island, she promised herself she wasn't going to be involved in a showmance. She's a serious contestant and wants that $250,000 prize. Showmance contestants are weak and foolish, and Angie has no intention of being used by some handsome guy. That is, until she meets Hank. Not only is Hank Cross very handsome, he's as strong and capable as Angie.

When the show's crazy host begins using terror to drive contestants off the island, Angie and Hank quickly figure out that if they don't help each other, they may not live long enough to push their Panic Button.
Gilbert M. Stack has been creating stories almost since he began speaking and publishing fiction and non-fiction since 2006. A professional historian, Gilbert delights in bringing the past to life in his fiction, depicting characters who are both true to their time and empathetic with modern sensibilities. His work has appeared in several issues of Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine and is also offered at Red Rose Publishing. He lives in New Jersey with his wonderful wife, Michelle, and their beloved son, Michael.

    1. Thanks for hosting me! I’m very excited to be here. Panic Button is one of those labors of love which was fun to write from the first to the very last moment. We watch a lot of Reality TV in my house—Big Brother, Survivor, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, the cooking competitions—it just felt natural when Red Rose Publishing started soliciting its authors to write about love developing on a Reality TV program.

Panic Button takes a lot of the things that I like most in Reality TV—tough competition, quirky personalities, a great exotic setting and real bonding among the contestants—and packs it into a fast paced adventure where my heroine really has to dig deep into herself to figure out who she can trust and how much she’s willing to risk to win the prize.

Thanks again for the good wishes! I hope you’ll all give Panic Button a try!

  2. Wow another new to me author. I love this island. Is this the first in the series? Can it be read stand alone?

    1. Hi Donna, thanks for my cyber launch party. Yes, Panic Button is a complete stand alone novel. The Reality with a Twist series is a "thematic series". The only thing connecting them is they are about love developing in a Reality TV setting.

I hope you'll give Panic Button a try. You won't be disappointed!

    1. Favorite reality show is a hard call. The Talent Shows (America's Got Talent, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars) are great because the acts are just so entertaining. But the really competitive shows where the pressure wears the contestants down over time (Survivor, Big Brother) are great from a whole other perspective.

  5. I think this is a great idea for a series. Any hints about what the next book in the series would be?

    1. I wasn't involved with the other books in the series, so all I know is their titles (The Biggest Poser, Eligible Bachelors and Rock Idol). It interests me how everyone came at the same call for stories from a different perspective.

I have an idea for a sequel to Panic Button that would be set in an insane asylum. Most shows get a Season 2 after all.

  6. Hey a new author to love!

What other books do you have available? Are you mostly a romantic suspense author? What genres are your favorite to write?

I'm thinking I can find most of this information on your website, yes? :)

Best of luck with the new book and so glad to have found a new author!

    1. Hi Becky,

Yes my books are all listed with blurbs and excerpts on my website. Samaritan is the other full length novel. It's an urban fantasy romance which is very exciting. My Pembroke Steel series is composed of shorter works based in the 1920s and takes an adventure/mystery slant, sometimes with a supernatural component. They're quick, exciting tales. And my short story, What Child Is This?, is a very sweet Christmas story set in Depression Era America.

Thanks for visiting the Cyber Launch Party, I hope you enjoy the book!
