Celebrating A New Caveat Emptor Release For Zenobia Renquist

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog we are celebrating the release of FORGOTTEN LOVER, book five in Zenobia Renquist's (aka D. Renee Bagby) Caveat Emptor Series.

Renee is a military brat turned military wife who is currently stationed in Hawaii with her husband and two cats.

Whether writing as D. Renee Bagby or Zenobia Renquist, she is a world-builder. She loves inventing new cultures and shaping their histories and laws because it beats researching the existing ones.

Her stories span the fantasy gamut but she dabbles in sci-fi and contemporary from time to time. While her main characters tend to be of different races, she doesn't let skin color rule or limit her stories. For her, it's all about how much she can torture her characters so they earn their happily-ever-after ending.

The rules are all new and pre-conceived notions will only slow you down, so when reading Renee's stories, she asks only one thing -- Leave Your Reality Behind.

FORGOTTEN LOVER by Zenobia Renquist

Caveat Emptor Book Five

Captured by mages, Medusa is more upset at her own weakness than the mages' idea of torture. Once free of them, she plans to slaughter them all.

Except, there is one mage who awakens long buried memories of desire from a past best left forgotten. She knows this man to the depths of her soul, but she and Darius are on opposite sides of a war that has raged for centuries.

It's more than her heart at stake if she gives in to her desires.

  1. Happy Release Day Zenobia!!!

Love your Caveat Emptor Books and I'm thrilled to be able to celebrate another release for it!

For those not familiar with your series, can you tell us a bit about the series and how the books fit together?

And this release is different because the hero is not a vampire, right?

I wish you huge success with the new book and hope you're celebrating your first Hawaiian release day in style!

    Have a wonderful day!

  3. Happy release day and Hawaii? Wow how nice :) Is it your first time there?

I've read of your series, seen it here I believe, but sad to say I haven't started it yet.

Whatever gave you the idea to have vampires and mages at war? I like that it's different than the old werewolves and vampires at it.

And will you do anymore menages? Those might be my favorites right now.

  8. Hi Hi DeNita and thanks for having me here today. And yup, this is my first release since moving to Hawaii.

The Caveat Emptor series is about three couples and their struggle for love in the middle of a war between mages and vampires.

You are correct. This is the first book in the series where the hero is not a vampire. The heroine is. The hero is a mage, which makes for some interesting sparks.

  10. Katie - Actually this is my first time living in Hawaii but not visiting. My family stopped here when the Air Force moved my dad from Okinawa, Japan to San Antonio, TX.

The idea for vampires and mages came to me around the same time I decided this would be a series -- right after I finished the first book. It was supposed to be a stand alone, but the question mark at the end of the book turned it into a series. And, I also wanted to get away from the cliche of vampires vs. werewolves.

I do plan to have more menages. I'll be doing the sequel to RITE MEN FOR MAYA in 2012, which is an m/m/f menage. As well, I have some others planned.

    Stay tuned.

  11. Lil - Hi and welcome. I love fantasy and world building so much I had to make up two names to keep it all straight.

Under my real name, D. Renee Bagby, I write books that belong to my Multiverse worlds -- seven separate dimensions containing alternate versions of Earth that cross over one another from time to time. Each Earth has its own rules, from one Earth that is run by preternatural creatures to another Earth that is completely run by science.

For all the stories that didn't fit in my Multiverse, I created the Zenobia Renquist name.

I write fantasy stories with interracial themes in the mainstream and erotic genres under both names, though I try to avoid explicit language while writing as D. Renee Bagby. So far, it's worked out.

  12. Fedora - Thanks and welcome. So far I have not done anything special, though I probably should. I will think of something special to do once book seven comes out.

  13. Julianne - Hi. My inspiration for the first book was a complete reversal of the vampire lover storyline norm. I wanted a vampire hero who wasn't in control of the relationship. Not only that, I wanted him to under the heroine's control against his will.

From there the series was born.

  14. do you think that you will be sad when you finish the last book, you are getting close now, or will you be glad to move on to something new and different?

  15. Tammy - Hi. And I'm not sure. I've never done a series before, so I haven't thought about how I'll feel when it's over. I've already got several books planned and in the works, so moving on to something new isn't hard.

When book seven releases, I guess I'll find out.

  19. BeccL - Hi and thanks! Unfortunately, I only planned the story arc for seven books. Once book six comes out, you'll see why it'll be ending with book seven.

Don't worry though. Changeling Press encourages its authors to put out free shorts called Encounters. I plan to do one for each couple once the series is finished.
