Celebrating Two New Releases For Zenobia Renquist

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog we are celebrating two new releases from Zenobia Renquist (you may know her as D. Renee Bagby) and Changling Press.

Renee is a military brat turned military wife who is currently stationed in MD with her husband and two cats.

Whether writing as D. Renee Bagby or Zenobia Renquist, she is a world-builder. She loves inventing new cultures and shaping their histories and laws because it beats researching the existing ones.

Her stories span the fantasy gamut but she dabbles in sci-fi and contemporary from time to time. While her main characters tend to be of different races, she doesn't let skin color rule or limit her stories. For her, it's all about how much she can torture her characters so they earn their happily-ever-after ending.

The rules are all new and pre-conceived notions will only slow you down, so when reading Renee's stories, she asks only one thing -- Leave Your Reality Behind.

Now living in vampire territory, she's learning more about Theron, and not all of it is good. 2. Hi there! Congrats on your new releases. They both sound awesome! :) Between your two books, do you favor one more? How long did it take you to write both books? Are you planning on adding more books to this series? Thank you!

  3. Congratulations on your new releases. I enjoyed the excerpts for both books and look forward to reading them. What is the hardest part of writing the books?

  4. @AuthorIsland - Morning, DeNita! Thanks for having me. It has been a hectic morning for me, but I'm here now. :D

Cafe Midnight: Chamomile Nights is the first book released in the Cafe Midnight multi-author anthology featuring hard-working black heroines and the lovers they encounter while visiting a coffee shop known as Cafe Midnight where your most exotic orders are filled with a smile.

I know my heroine was smiling at the end of her book. :P

Caveat Emptor 1: Charmed Lover is the start of a series I didn't even know I was going to write until I finished Charmed Lover. But I don't regret it and I'm having fun writing it.

In this world, the humans are caught in an on-going conflict between the vampires and the mages. There are those who want to live together in peace and those who think fighting is much more profitable. The Caveat Emptor series follows three couples as they struggle with love during this unstable time.

Charmed Lover is the introduction of the first couple -- Theron and Ryver.

The second book in the series, Trapped Lover came out on 10 June. And I'm busy working on the third. I hope to have it done in the next week or so.

  5. @Shadow_Kohler -- Thanks for the congrats! Of the two titles, I do like Charmed Lover more. But it's only by a little bit. I'm a huge fan of all of my stories (or else I wouldn't write them).

Charmed Lover took me about two or three weeks. I'm not totally sure the exact date I started it, but it was early February 2011 and by 22 February I had it and Chamomile Nights (which I had been working on at the same time) turned in to my editor.

The Cafe Midnight series is a multi-author series. The next book is Americano Misto by Cynthia Sax and it's already out.

The Caveat Emptor series will run for seven books. Book 2 - Trapped Lover just released last week and I'm currently working on book three.

  6. @Sherry - Thanks for the congrats. I'm glad you enjoyed the excerpts.

The hardest part of writing all of my books recently has been the sex scenes. I want to keep it fresh and interesting from book to book, so it's not the same old grind. I've had to dig into some of the naughtier sites for inspiration.

Truly. That's the only reason I'm visiting those sites. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :P

  7. awesome. congrats! do you want to branch out and do different genres? do you have a favorite series that youve wrote? what are your favorite authors? sorry, im asking alot of questions. im just curious. :) hope you have a great party!

  8. @Shadow - Thanks and I'm happy to answer questions.

The one genre I want to branch into is horror romance. I think I would do well with that genre. I just have to get the pacing of the story right so I don't lose the suspense or the romance.

My favorite authors are Jayne Ann Krentz (and her other pen names), Bianca D'Arc, Stephanie Burke, and Kate Hill... to name a few. I've picked up a bunch of authors I want to start reading. I just have to find time to actually read. :)

  10. @Shadow - I'm going to try my best at the horror thing. My issue is that nothing much scares me. I laughed through pretty much all of the Freddy and Jason movies. But then I have a dark sense of humor.

I will be writing the book to scare myself, so hopefully I won't go too overboard and scare away my readers. Then again, maybe if it is scary enough I might get Stephen King's and Wes Craven's attentions. :P

You can keep up with all of my new release news at the above links.

  11. lol i laughed through freddy and jason movies too! actually, i laugh through a lot of movies. there just not scary enough. if you can write a book to scare people, than your awesome! id love to read a book and be terrified from reading it. though, i love anything scary, so im into that type of thing. if you get stephen and wes's attention and make a movie, ill be the first person in line to watch it. :)

  12. My first question is how you came up with the name Zenobia? I love that, very unique.

Trapped Lover sounds really good, do you have to read the first book in the series or can you pretty much pick up the series anywhere? I also like the idea of vampires and mages, vamps and werewolves are getting old.

  13. @Shadow - If... sorry WHEN one of my books turns into a movie, you won't be the first in line because I will be. :P

I'll get cracking on that horror romance as soon as my writing queue frees up a little.

  14. @Jerry B - Thanks for stopping by.

I got Zenobia out of a naming dictionary my mom had. She used it to name my brothers and me. Zenobia means given life by Zeus.

I would say you don't have to read Charmed Lover to enjoy Trapped Lover. However, the Charmed Lover leads directly into Trapped Lover.

The series contains couplets -- two books for each couple. Book three (isn't out yet) will start the story of the next couple, so if you wanted to start the series there you could without being too lost. The same could be said about book five.

I agree that vampires versus werewolves is getting a little old, though it is a fun rivalry which is why writers continually go back to it. I liked magic though, so I figured why not pit them against the vampires and see what happens.
