BEHIND THE SCENES - A Tabor Heights, Ohio Novel by Michelle Levigne
Max Randolph and Tony Martin were best friends and writing partners. She had moments of wishing for something more, something warmer, closer, in their relationship, but with the specter of her mother's mistakes when she had been a Hollywood starlet -- resulting in Max's birth -- she wasn't about to risk what she had by reaching for something that Tony probably wasn't interested in at all.
It took a writer-in-residence job and an extended stay away from Tabor Heights to make Tony realize what he wanted most -- Max, in every part of his life.
Then Max's parents were involved in a brutal accident and Tony rushed home to Tabor Heights to support her and her brothers. He promised Max she would never be alone again -- but with a Shakespearean production and book deadlines and stolen identities to deal with, when would things calm down enough for him to tell her everything that was part of that promise?

Good morning, everybody!
ReplyDeleteHere's an inside bit of information (well, not that much inside, since I mentioned it on Facebook this morning... ) but BEHIND THE SCENES originally started out as the first 4 episodes of a proposed half-hour family comedy series. I wrote 4 scripts, and proposed another 5 or 6 stories, and sent them to North Star Productions, which at that time was affiliated with The Family Channel/CBN. They were encouraging, but ended up producing "Big Brother Jake" instead.
Their loss.
Your gain!
There's another short story tied in with BEHIND THE SCENES -- this is a free read titled "Silver Hearts," which will release in December.
Check Desert Breeze Publishing for more details!
Note:
ReplyDeleteI have a speaking engagement this morning at my old high school, talking with the creative writing class. I'm leaving in about 5 minutes -- yikes! -- and I hope to be back around 12:30/1pm.
Please post away, ask your questions, and I'll answer them when I get back.
Promise!

Oh I love the cover for your new book, Michelle and as I've done some community theatre work in my younger days, this sounds like something I'll just need to get. Off to claim my free book.
ReplyDeleteThanks and best of luck with our new book.
Anybody out there?
ReplyDeleteAny questions?
I'm back from the speaking engagement -- I've been back -- why so quiet?

I have been following the series & am enjoying it.

Robin asked what research I did. Ummm, experience?
ReplyDeleteI have a BA in theater/English from Northwestern College, and I did a lot of theater work in my church -- backstage most of the time. I've been in a lot of community theaters in the audience, and I have a good idea of what goes on behind the scenes, whether it's professional, academic or community.
The rest of it is just ... guesswork?
Glad you guys are enjoying it. I just turned in the next book in the series -- Firesong. The title is the name of a contemporary Christian music group, so does that give you an idea what might be happening?
Congratulations on your Release of "Behind The Scenes".I know its going to be an aesoem read .Have a great day .
