SECRETS, LIES AND LULLABIES by Heidi Betts

ROCK-A-BYE BILLIONAIRE

No problem’s too big for CEO Alexander Bajoran…until a baby is left in his boardroom with a note stating he’s the daddy. The mother must be Jessica Taylor, an unforgettable though regrettable one-night stand. Why would she do such a thing?

When Jessica returns, desperate and remorseful, there’s no way Alex will let her walk away with his son. And after discovering that she’s connected to his jewelry empire’s biggest rival, the mogul wonders if the pregnancy really was an accident. What will he gamble to keep his heir…and the woman who still has a stranglehold on his heart?

BUY THE BOOK *** READ THE EXCERPT

Bestselling, award-winning author Heidi Betts began her love affair with the romance genre in junior high school, where she used to sneak romance novels into study hall when she should have been doing her homework. It didn't take long to decide she wanted to write a few romances of her own, so she set out to do just that.

Her first book was released by Dorchester Publishing in 2000, with five more to follow. From there, Heidi moved into the contemporary arena by writing numerous category titles for Silhouette Desire, and recently she signed with St. Martin's Press to begin writing funny, sexy single titles.

With each new book, Heidi asks herself how she can bring to life endearing heroes and heroines whom readers will believe are meant for each other. And with each new novel to hit the stands, readers and reviewers alike declare she knows how to create a story that sizzles, charms, and delights from the first page to the last. Her first title for Silhouette Desire landed at #1 on the Waldenbooks/Borders Series Romance Bestseller List, where her books have continued to make an appearance ever since.

Heidi loves to read, write, watch movies (and just a little too much television), and surround herself with furry, four-legged friends in her home in the beautiful hills of Central Pennsylvania.

  9. Hi, Joanne! I've actually been lucky enough to be able to write quite a bit of what I love--I've done series for Harlequin Desire, humorous contemporary for SMP, & paranormal for Kensington. Desire is keeping me hopping right now, but I am starting to feel some humorous contemp yearnings again... ;)

  11. Okay, seeing the cover of MUST LOVE VAMPIRES as my profile pic when I'm chatting about LULLABIES was bugging me. I think I fixed it, but let's test it & see...

  13. Hi, Crystal! Thanks so much. I really lucked out with this cover - the hero & the baby are too adorable for words. :)

Coolest thing ever, btw... Over on Twitter, the model who posed as the hero for this cover actually tweeted about my book. I hardly ever know who the models are for my covers, so that was kind of a thrill for me. *G*

  14. Hi, Annette! I'm a bit of a secret baby junkie myself...& I love writing about them!

This story was originally titled "A Baby in the Billionaire's Boardroom" - & that's actually what inspired me to write it. I had this flash one day of a rich, single, Alpha guy walking into his boardroom to find a baby sitting in the middle of the table. And I wanted to know more! What was that about & how would he react? The rest of the story sort of snowballed from there. :)

  19. Congratulations on SECRETS, LIES AND LULLABIES.

Was it difficult writing a baby as a character?

  20. Thanks, Chey! I hope you enjoy it. :)

  21. Hi, Mary, & thank you! I've done babies before, so I kind of know the drill. But the trick with putting babies in romance novels--especially Desires--is to keep them young enough that they don't talk & you can put them down for a nap when you need to. LOL (Unlike real babies, right? ;P)

  22. The plot sounds so unique and intriguing. I, too, am wondering how the wealthy guy reacts. Congratulations on the book.

  24. I have read a lot of your books and love them each and every time! Congratulations on your newest release.
Have you had a book that was your favorite to write? Do you have a favorite author (I know that's two questions I'm sorry).

  25. Thanks, Gladys. Finding a baby in his boardroom definitely throws Alex off his game. lol

  26. bn1000~ Thanks! I spent my Halloween watching Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows & was happy to finally see it. How about you? :)

  27. Thank you, Tiffany, I'm thrilled to hear it! :D

As much as I love every story, some books are harder to write than others...& some are more fun than others. Not sure I have a stand-out favorite, but this one was a blast because there was just so much going on. So many layers, with characters who were a bit different (especially Jessica :)), & I also got to play around at being a priceless jewelry designer. If only I got to take samples home with me at the end of the night. ;)

Second question... (And 2 is not too many. :)) I have a lot of favorite authors. From the Desire line itself, I just adore Maureen Child. I don't think she's ever written a book I didn't enjoy. And then I'm also a fan of Susan Andersen, Lori Foster, Gena Showalter, Sandra Brown... There are probably too many to name!

    How about you?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh you have good taste in authors! I have books by every author you mentioned. My all time favorite would have to be Lynsay Sands. Her book got me hooked on reading.
