Marie Treanor was born and bred in Scotland, but for some years moved around the UK working and studying. Now she's back home and happily married with three young children.
Having grown bored with city life, her family lives in a picturesque village by the sea where, instead of working for a living, Marie is lucky enough to be able to enjoy herself writing stories of romance and fantasy.
She draws the inspiration for her books mainly from the people around her and from Scotland's rich history and culture - with, of course, large helpings of fun and imagination!

ReplyDeleteWell, the series is connected by the mysterious Psychic Centre, which had recruited Jenny in "Hunting Karoly." Ellie, who was a minor character in that book, is the heroine of "Guitar Man", and also works for the Psychic Centre. Though the books do have a bit of a dark side, featuring vampires and evil possession, they are largely lighthearted and fun - at least they were for me :)
There is a third book in the series "Freeing Al", which should be out later in the year. "Freeing Al" is about a slightly kinky Romanian vampiress and a Scottish ex-con whom everyone in the country wants to kill!
The books can be read alone, but I suppose they might be enjoyed more if read in order, since many characters make reappearances :)
Yes, my new vampire series at NAL is very exciting! This is a trilogy of longer novels called "Awakened by Blood", about an academic who accidentally awakens the most powerful vampire who ever lived. HE was staked centuries before and now he wants revenge. I'm very excited about this series too! The first book, "Blood on Silk" comes out in the US and Canada in September.

The "Awakened by Blood" books all follow the story of the vampire Saloman and his "awakener", Elizabeth. It's a turbulent relationship :). Thanks for asking!

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what my favourite genre is - usually the one I'm writing in at the time :) As you noticed, I'm a terrible genre hopper - I just go where the imagination takes me. Just now, I'm into vampires in a big way, but I do feel tugs in different directions - other aspects of the paranormal, a bit of steam punk, historical... I'll get to them all in time :).
