Celebrating A Special Charity Release For Samantha Sommersby

Today we're celebrating the release of TOUCH OF FIRE, a very special "28 Days of Heart" release for Samantha Sommersby. All proceeds from the sale of TOUCH OF FIRE and the 27 other shorts, which will be offered exclusively on AllRomance.com and OmniLit.com as individual eBooks, will be donated to the American Heart Association.

Samantha lives in San Diego with her husband and fifteen year old son. She is the author of ten novels and novellas including FORBIDDEN: THE TEMPTATION, her latest installment in the critically acclaimed Forbbiden series. In 2007, Samantha left what she used to call her "real life" day job as a pyschotherapist to pursue writing and working in the publishing industry full-time. She now happily spends her days immersed in the world of Forbidden, a world where vampires, werewolves, and demons are real, where magic is possible, and where love still conquers all.

He'd brave the fires of hell just to hold her...

Firefighter Garrett Flint rescues the beautiful Nicole from a burning building, and then breaks all the rules by taking her into his home and into his heart.

All proceeds from the sale of these shorts, which will be offered exclusively on AllRomance.com and OmniLit.com as individual eBooks, will be donated to the American Heart Association.

  8. @ authorisland - More about the charity series? I have to admit I'm thrilled to be a part of this. When ARe placed an open subs call I didn't hesitate, this is a wonderful cause and heart disease touches so many. I love the idea of doing something to promote a healthy heart around Valentines day. There are 28 stories in all, from all sub-genres. My contribution is set in my home town of San Diego - something else that's near and dear to me and features a fictitious firefighter. As most of you know, wildfires is a big problem for us here in southern, CA and our firefighters are real life heroes.

@JerryB - Paranormal or Contemporary? Paranormal/Urban Fantasy is my first love, hands down. But every once in a while I feel the need to come back to reality. LOL!

@Leni - Yes, I think being a psychotherapist influences my writing in many ways. I spend quite a bit of time fleshing out my characters and in making sure I understand their motivation. My writing is very characters-driven. I believe when you've got that nailed, the story essentially writes itself. You've got to understand your characters, who they are, what they want, why they do what they do, etc.

Please do hop over and check out the charity series this weekend. There are some great reads, they are reasonably prices, and you can feel good about helping out an important charity as you dive into a few hours of terrific escape.

  9. This is a great cause all of you authors contributed your works to. I love firefighter stories and am very intrigued by this one. I'm curious to know if you've used or would use any incidences from during your years as a psychotherapist? Does your work background help in your writing?

  12. @Joder - I do like to write characters who work in the mental health field. As is the case with all writers, I write what I know and my personal experiences influences what I write.

The hero in Forbidden: The Sacrifice is a psychiatrist. I loved writing Wesley Atherton and watching as his perception of reality was ripped away as he began to realize there was so much more to the world than what he'd become to believe.

I have a contemporary novel being released from Samhain in May in which the hero is a social worker who, like my husband, works with abused children. It's called Shelter From the Storm - and you can check out the summary here: http://samhainpublishing.com/coming/shelter-from-the-storm
