Fleeing from her cheating husband, Moira Shaughnessy stumbles across a man she never wanted to see again. A brutal storm and deadly magic open her eyes to the power of the love between them.
A ranger for the U.S. Park Service, strong, competent Moira Shaughnessy is in serious trouble. Fleeing from her cheating husband, a Native American shaman, she stumbles into the arms of a man she never thought she’d see again. He hurt her once by choosing his druid heritage over her. Can she take a chance on him now?
Pursuing very different motives, both men follow her deep into the backcountry. Moira is caught in the crossfire between Celtic magic and Native American shamanism. A freak blizzard compounds her problems, taxing her survival skills to the max. Against the specter of almost-certain death, the sweetest, purest love she’s ever known rises to the fore, engulfing her in unbelievable passion.

ReplyDeleteDestiny's Shadow is a "second time around" love story. Moira and Tim have known one another forever, but he has secrets--lots of them. Finally, when they're twenty-two she walks out of his life in a storm of tears. Ten years pass before they see one another again. She's now a ranger for the U.S. Park Service and he's an MD. Time decides he's not going to lose Moira this time, no matter what.
Hi Ann! Looks like a fun read. :)
ReplyDeleteHow much did your background as a clinical psychologist end up informing the story?
Hi Cat,
DeleteMy psychologist background is useful building believable, three-dimensional characters. So, I think it helped me make Tim and Moira feel real. Tim is an MD. The other thing which helped with him is I spent a lot of years as the behaviorist at a family medicine residency training program, so I got very familiar with medicine and how doctors think.
Oh I love second chance love stories. I've never read one with a druid hero. What exactly is a druid and what research did you do to write him?
ReplyDeleteDruidry is both a religion and a spiritual belief system. It was common during the Middle Ages and earlier, but there are many practicing druids in the modern world. If you're interested, Google and Wikipedia have lots of articles. LOL! I've read most of the, plus I know a few druids and was fortunate to be able to talk with them about their belief systems. Keep in mind, Destiny's Shadow is a work of fiction, so I embellished what I needed to to move the action in the story forward.
DeleteHave you been to a US Park?
ReplyDeletebn100candg(at)hotmail(dot)com
Hi bn100,
DeleteYes, I've been to quite a few U.S. parks. I live about 40 minutes from the eastern boundary of Yosemite. For years, I lived in Redding, so I was near Lassen. I also like Arches, Canyonlands, and the Grand Canyon. Our national parks are important. They mean someone thinks wild places are more important than drilling for oil!
