Celebrating Jianne Carlo's New Viking Romance

Today on our Cyber Launch Party, we're celebrating Jianne Carlo's new paranormal Viking romance and the second book in her bestselling Viking Vengeance Series.

DEATH BLOW by Jianne Carlo

Viking Vengeance II

Can a mere Viking break the curse of a sea god?

Cursed by the sea-god Ægir to be burned at the stake, Lady Nyssa seeks the one man who can save her--the warrior who bears the mark of the Saracen. When she finds a Viking warrior wounded and senseless on a beach, she knows he is her savior. But Ægir’s wrath extends to others in her life as well. He’s killed her father and stepmother, turned her stepbrother into a mountain lion, and imprisoned her people. And worse, he’s cursed any man who lays with her to have his manparts wither and die.

Konáll has traded coin a-plenty to gain a wife with lands, the daughter of the King of Moray. He expects a refined, comely, trainable damsel, not a doomed warrior princess with the strength of a giantess who cannot bear the touch of a man. But once he learns more about this woman who speaks to talking mountain cats and hides as a peasant among the rabble, he cannot deny his feelings. There’s more than one way to breech a maidenhead, and if teaching her the ways of a woman’s pleasure with a carved ivory dildo is what it takes to make her his, then he’s more than happy to challenge the wrath of a god…

Award winning, Jianne Carlo’s motto is simple: Alpha Me Please.

While strong heroines, exotic locations, and cultural differences are her forte, she goes weak in the knees and salivates for warriors of any type – rebels, SEAls, Vikings, and bad-ass mercenaries. Send her a man with an attitude and she’ll find the right woman to tame him.

Jianne’s writing career began in 2008, and since then she’s been lucky enough to have over twenty books published. Most of her books are TOP PICKs and several have been nominated for awards and prizes:

Passionate Ink’s Best Contemporary of 2009 - A Paratrooper in a Pear Tree

Deviant Devil – nominated for The Romance Studio’s Best Suspense of 2011

The Peacemaker – nominated for The Romance Studio’s Best Historical

The Seducer – nominated for Love Romance Café’s Best Historical of 2011

Deviant Devil – nominated for Love Romance Café’s Best BDSM of 2011

Nothing makes Jianne’s day more than an email from someone who’s read one of her books. So far, she’s received emails from almost every continent on the planet. Almost…

  1. Good morning Jianne and super congrats on the new release - beautiful cover and I loved, loved, loved the excerpt! So funny!

And congrats on it already being a bestseller! That's awesome and you must be dancing on air!

For those not familiar with your Viking Vengeance Series, can you tell us a bit about it and how the books fit together? How many do you plan for the series?

Enjoy your cyber launch party and thanks so much for the great giveaways!

Have fun and here's to DEATH BLOW being your biggest seller yet!

  2. I've never read a romance with a Viking hero, but have always thought I'd enjoy it, as I enjoy historicals very much.

What kind of research did you do to write your book and how difficult is it to write the dialog? While your in the middle of a book, do you find yourself talking like they do? :) I could see that!

  3. I love your motto: Alpha Me Please!! Love those sexy alpha males! This book looks interesting, I am not a fan of historicals but if there is an alpha male and sex toys, I am more than up to expanding my reading preferences! What are you now working on?

  4. Congrats! This sounds good. Do you have a favorite cover of your own book?

  5. It's nearly impossible to find well-informed people on this topic, however, you seem like you know what you're talking about!

  6. Ooh, love the sounds of this, Jianne! Do you write full time? Will you be taking any time off writing during the holidays? :)

  7. Sorry to be so late in replying to all the comments, but better late than never - right?

To answer DeNita's question - I have three books planned for the Viking Vengeance series. But everyone's emailing me about Mus/Ciarran - Nyssa's there may be four

  8. I took a university level course on the Vikings, Sharon. I've also read as many non-fiction books on the period and the Viking culture that I could find. Next year, I get t sail on an actual longship *snoopy dance*

The dialogue is easy for me for some reason. I always have 2 manuscripts going, one historical, and one contemporary.

  9. Hmmm, toys huh? Well then Susan, Death Blow is the book for you. There are ivory dildos and aphrodisiac oils...

  10. Happy to hear you think I may be knowledgeable on the topic of Vikings, anonymous. I am a fanatic about research.

  11. Hi BN - I love cover of The Bear and The Bride. But, the cover for A Paratrooper in Pear Tree is awesome too!

  12. Flchen1, I wish I wrote full-time. Unfortunately, the day job gets in the way all the time and no, I'm not taking any time off over the holidays. Hope you have a great holiday season!
