Pauline is the award-winning author of eight novels of action-adventure, suspense, romantic suspense and comedy-mystery. She's also written two non-fiction books, ADAPTING YOUR NOVEL FOR FILM and MADE-UP MAYHEM which released August 2008. Her seventh novel, OUT OF TIME, an action-adventure romance set in World War II, is a 2007 EPPIE winner in the single title/mainstream category. Her eighth novel, THE KEY, released from LL Dreamspell, is the Dream Realm Awards winner in its category and won a bronze medal in the Independent Publisher awards.
What happens when a twenty-first century woman on a mission to change the past meets a thoroughly 1940s man trying to stay alive in the hellish skies over war-torn Europe? Melanie "Mel" Morton is an adventure reporter, who lost her grandfather in World War II. With no family left, she's all about doing her job and finishing her grandfather's biography.
Enter Jack Hamilton, sexy octogenarian, genius/scientist and former WWII bomber pilot. What he tells Mel sends her on her craziest adventure yet - straight into the past to save her grandfather's life - and change Jack's future, if she doesn't accidentally end it.
All Mel has to do is outmaneuver the entire German army--and not fall in love with Jack. Unfortunately, eluding the German army is the easy part in this exciting romantic adventure and EPPIE award winner by Pauline Baird Jones.

Super congrats on the re-release of your Eppie Winner OUT OF TIME, Pauline! How exciting for it now to be available in Kindle for the first time and available to a whole new set of readers!
ReplyDeleteAnd great new cover, too.
Tell us a bit about how this book came to be and Mel is such a great character, do you have any plans to bring her back for a new story?
Many thanks, DeNita! I'm excited to have the book out again! It's been out of print for a year! I love the new cover, too, many thanks!
ReplyDeleteHow did I come to write this book, hmmmm. I'd have to say it percolated for a long time. I've always liked time travel and got the germ of the idea watching LAST OF MOHICANS. I know, pretty crazy, because there are no Mohicans in this book. LOL! Anyway, thought it would be fun to have a character clash with the past, but didn't want to send anyone too far back. It just evolved into a WWII setting, which has always been of great interest to me.
You can read more about the back ground of the book here: http://www.paulinebjones.com/BHTB-OOT.htm
Some day I'd like to finish their story, because I did leave the possibility there. Not sure if it will arrive as another book or a short story.
Many thanks for hosting me today!
perilously,
Pauline
Almost forgot, I do have some updated (and hopefully) good news! My publisher IS going to release OUT OF TIME into wider print release. It should show up this week, in fact. I need to do some web updates and stuff, but been out of town and now playing catch up! But I'm excited to have the repackaged print edition also available for readers. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your book. The publisher must be feeling good about it. It sounds like a good read.

Pauline,
ReplyDeleteOut of Time sounds like a fascinating book!
We tend to forget the difference in values and thinking of people of different generations.
Very creative!
thanks, Jacqueline! I'm on a yahoo group specifically for WWII writers and we have a lovely German lady who helps us all with details from the German perspective. It is also a needed reminder that enemies don't have to stay enemies.

I love time travel stories. WWII is one of only two time periods that I like reading about in books, other than present day. Definitely putting this on my TBB list.
